Has the Dallas media actually called them out? I didn't take the Dallas media as one market of being soft. Are they scared of losing credentials? But has anyone asked Jerry these comments. An ugly loss tomorrow would be very interesting.
That's what it kinda feels like, brother. Jerry keeps an iron grip around this franchise... the local beat knows who butters their bread, who gives them access, soundbites, interviews etc. Jerry sells himself, so the local media (and national) doesn't need a winner/contender to sell content, nor do they need to drum up controversy. Dallas/Jerry breeds controversy on it's own. Dysfunction, for the Dallas Cowboys, is our relevancy.

There are people like Sturm, Cavanaugh and couple others who are starting to go against the grain. But our beat reporters need to go pure East Coast media on Jerry and Stephen. National media is all over the org, but local is just starting to push back and question the braintrust. Jerry, Stephen, Garrett need to eat their own poo everyday until change occurs. They conveniently avoid any media that would call them out.

As many have said, seemingly nothing will change until Jerry's bottom line is effected. Revenue continues to rise. Forbes superstars. So yeaahh....

Here's a flashback from 2012 and history repeating itself:

Tim Macmahon is the reporter asking the tough questions. Coincidentally, he no longer covers the Dallas Cowboys.

This why Dallas will continue to be average. The owner just can't admit he is part of the problem. The first step in any failure is admittance to being a part of that failure. Jerry just simply is blind if he thinks he himself is not part the problem.

The part where the guy mentioned the last three games is key. Brought this up to a friend a couple week ago and it scares me. Garrett could go 0-5 the next 5 games but if he wins the last three, he absolutely could save his job.

I don't know why that would save his job. Dallas would end the season 6-10. Heck, I don't know how 7-9 could save his job at this point.

- Jerrah: we've won 3 superbowls with me being gm ... so ...

- Tim Macmahon : yeah , you've also won 1 playoff in 15 years , what makes you think you are capable of still being GM?

Jerry's face turned red ...

We need more reporters like Tim Macmahon . Asking the tough questions .

Those that aren't beholden to Jones and the Cowboys are telling it like it is, those that are beholden? They do what they're told.

We need a platoon of Tim Macmahon's in Frisco to put heat on the FO. Every entrance and exit at the Star planted with a reporter and microphone ready to ask questions like the ones Tim was lobbing at Jerry.

Even Patrick's crew was asking why the Dallas media doesn't call out Jerry and Garrett. I've seen many posters here asking and wondering the very same. What a mess. And every morning when I wake up, it takes all of 10-20 minutes (I've gotten better the last week) before it strikes me that our suffering is for naught, that we pissed away a high first round pick. The whole rest of this season is gonna be one long Groundhog's Day.
Try to remember that the team's ineptness isn't your fault in any way. Maybe that'll help.

I used to be depressed for days over a loss, but now I barely think about it the next day.

Like he said.

"Dallas has everything but results."

That pretty much sums it up. Dan Patrick is right— They aren’t Cleveland. They spend money. They just haven’t invested it the right way (at least not entirely) in order to get results on the field.

I’m not anywhere near the vicinity but I’d guess a good chunk of the “Dallas media” are either in Mr. Jones’ pocket or are basically marginalized such that they are screaming into a vacuum with respect to any harsh criticism. After all, Mr. Jones has been spin-doctoring for decades now so he’s gotten pretty good at it.

Which is about where I'd foreseen our seasons record immediately after casually glancing at out 2018 schedule after it was posted in the latter part of the 2017 season.

(SHEESE, if we could only be that LUCKYo_O)

Been 23 yrs since the Cowboys have seen an NFC title game, and will be another 23 yrs until Jerry Jones meets Al Davis. To think otherwise is a Dallas fan in denial. He is the ONLY constant during this 2 decade+ drought and will not change so the current GM keeps rearranges the deck chairs on the Titanic, while playing soft soothing music to his fans to stay calm

Truth. The cold truth with 23 years of facts and evidence. Sad that Jerry continues to give the fanbase his middle finger. We deserve better.

I stop thinking about losses less than 5 minutes after the game ends. No excitement for the rare win, and no numbness for the losses.

I think that is the key to it. Jerry is so open with the local media, and he really opens the team up to outlets who will work with him. He won’t outright take away credentials, but those in his good graces become like partners. Even when the local media questions him, they do it in a soft way.

Perhaps, but it wasn't a shot fired due to the pangs of hunger,Nay! for it was a shot fired in anger over a dude named Dan, who'd stolen the girl of his fancy, whose name was McGill, and she called herself Lil ,but everyone n

I have pretty much seen every reporter local and national go after JJ. To the extent of what McMahon said to his face probably not. But the local media has never held back on ripping on JJ since he arrived back in 89. Even the guys who cover the team for the mothership question everything the FO and coaches do, in which they should.

Jerry just can't accept the fact that the game he loves, he just isn't very good at it. And he takes it personally because he's so successful in business. But, even then, he's not really the one constructing his billion dollar stadium, he's not the world class engineers, he offloads all the analytical stuff to other people, which is fine because that's what good businessmen do.

The Cowboys are *his*, he calls all the shots, there isn't anything that gets installed or pieces moved around that he didn't personally approve. He does the engineering, he pours the concrete, he does all the calculations. He's all the independent contractors rolled into one.

And he thought Garrett was his "ace in the hole". Turns out, he wasn't.

We can only hope that his ego will get the best possible candidate for the job after this.
