Of course he'd make more, it's easier to sell a winning team than it is a "meh" team. Jerry can justify it by looking at the most valuable franchise in sports. In Jerry's mind he's just one or two moves or breaks away from winning a SuperBowl and then he'd show everybody he was right all along. We're not just at the mercy of Garrett's "process", we're at the mercy of Jerry's process too.
Garrett’s process is Jerry’s process. Garrett is a direct product of the dysfunctional situation Jerry has created.

The money only allows Jerry to continue his ways. Jerry’s passion is fulfilling his football fantasies. The money stream just allows it to happen and continue.

If you want to stop Jerry you slow the money stream. The fact he could add to the already wealthiest franchise won’t change him. Only a threat to it will.

Where was Dan Patrick when Jerry assembled the best team in the league during 90s, winning more super bowls than coveted Landry.
Just the type of attitude which continues providing Jerry a seal of approval. Basically a pass for life with the early success. Something Landry wasn’t provided.

Right, so it's not that he doesn't care. He honestly thinks he knows what he's doing.
I think he recognizes there are others who do it better. But he’s determined to do it his way. And not really interested in owning a team unless he can do it his way.

No one wants to win and prove themself a football guy more than Jerry. But when you admit you’d of fired yourself you’re just playing to the Lynch Mob. What’s so startling is we have continued to reward him.

It’s too late now once the stadium was built and revenue streams in place. Game over. Jerry won. We’re screwed.

Runny this wasn’t directed at you but your post sparked the thought. Thanks

In all fairness to Jerry he’s not bad for an owner. He’s able to stay about middle of the pack. But unable to keep up with the better front offices and coaching staffs in the league.

If only all NFL owners were mandated to be their GM, their son VP with puppet coaching staffs I think Jerry might could dominate . Lol

I preached this years ago but nobody cared. It’s too late now once the stadium was built and revenue streams in place. Game over. Jerry won. We’re screwed.

But Americans reward mediocre products everyday. We are creatures of habit like a junkie waiting for our next fix however crappy and watered down it is.

Jerry has maximized an American Icon for his own personal entertainment and passion to run and coach a football team all at our expense. Well done Mr Jones!!

I know. You just had one thought lead to another, and had to put it in writing. I get it.

Jerry didn't assemble jack. Jimmy did then Jerruh got jealous and wanted the credit. Time to stop this bs narrative that Jerry had any hand in acquiring the talent for those 90s teams. You must be a kid.

I think the media will eventually, but I haven't seen them really asking Jerry the hard questions. Demanding answers about two decades plus of abject failure as an exec/GM. We certainly aren't seeing media go at Jerry the way that hoss Macmahon did on page one. Jerry was squirming and completely uncomfortable during the last ~20 seconds of the clip. Jerry became vulnerable for a brief moment. And I don't think he particularly enjoyed that. Maybe if he's confronted more and more about his ineptitude, the questions will start to resonate in his soul? Probably not... but I think that's far more likely than some mass boycott targeted at Jerry's wallet. There's too many fans that will buy the ticket from the person that decides to boycott.

In Dallas, we're lucky if we get a tweet or two from the local media being critical of Jerry. Which is a step in the right direction, I suppose. JG and Dak are getting chirped at a little bit by Dallas media. But Jerry, hardly. And Stephen is the mastermind-in-waiting, prodigal son who can do no wrong: When Jerry steps down, Stephen will fix everything. He's already taken over most of the day-to-day dealings of the org! He's the real brains behind the Cowboys -105.3 The Fan

It would be funny if it weren't so depressing.

With all of that said, Jerry and Co are getting eviscerated by the nat'l media. And that's nice. Hopefully it gets louder and louder and closer to home, to the point they can no longer avoid it, with reporters breathing down their neck..

The real answer is probably more like: Jerry's been scrutinized by the nat'l media before. What's it to him again. They're far away in their cushy NY/LA studios, anyways. And Dallas media wont rock the boat other than maybe some rando reporter here and there. Status quo until at least Jerry's passing. Also, we need something to happen in Stephen's life, a "come to Jesus" moment where he realizes how out of his depth he is running a $6B NFL team. But that won't happen and Stephen will be the Guy for the next 30 years. Idk..
Jerry and Jason will be asked about the Linehan reports on their radio shows this week, and both will say a lot of words without saying anything.

Garrett has as much power in this team as jerry does.

9 years as HC , you can bet his opinion is as good as the owners opinion .

The title says it all: "Dallas Fans Deserve Better Than This"

So before anybody thinks about turning on each other because we're all down, depressed, and on edge, remember that.

We all deserve better than this.
Ive been a Cowboy fan for 40 years and its only that last 5 that I feel like I have become bitter and hate the front office! The fans deserve better but Jerry deserves this!

Remember Jerry fired Jimmy because back to back championships wasn’t fun enough for him because he didn’t get the credit he wanted.

And we wonder why we are where we are. Please.....

This philosophy in general is fine but when you only dumpster dive in free agency when even mid tier free agents could improve your team, you need to pay the piper.

There is a time to be cheap in free agency but not all the time.

Thinking about it, maybe I should retract my comment. On a value per dollar basis, seems like we do even worse with the mid tier. Thornton, Carroll, Hurns. For all our whining about Carr, at least we got a decent starter out of it.

There are a lot of unknowns with free agents. The team that signs them is the one that had the rosiest estimate of those unknowns, and if you're rosier than everyone else, it's very likely you're overestimating what you're getting.

I understand wanting to improve the roster, but largely by design, free agency will not be a cost effective way to do that. It's not about being cheap, it's about wanting to get value for the money. It's just unlikely.

Given the uncertainties, dumpster diving more than you need might be the best way go.

Is there anywhere with the historical record of our free agents?

Cowboys used to overpay free agents and their own, as a corrective they have went cheap which is also problematic unless it is a Zack Martin or Fredrick which is warranted unlike say Crawford.

Poor evaluation has also been problematic for the team as well in all tiers of free agents.

They have not been very good lately in free agency overall and dumpster diving has not been fruitful.

That's why I wanted the full free agent list. Dumpster diving seems productive. Woods has been a big win.
