Anyone else hear Rappaport say we have an affinity for Lincoln Riley

And as much as I like McVay and this LA team I’m picking Saints with their experience HC and MVP QB to go further in playoffs.

But Rams are getting close and a joy to watch. McVay deserves some credit.

Why would we expect a 2 yr QB coach with no Other coaching experience at any level to have more success here?

More success than one of the best DC this era in Wade and HOFame Parcells? Please explain why?

He checked off several boxes at the time:
  • Intelligent
  • Well spoken
  • Raised around football his entire life
  • Coached by winning coaches
  • Played on Super Bowl teams
  • Coached alongside winning coaches
  • Trusting that Jones knew something we didn't
Ultimately, it turns out that we knew something Jones didn't.

I didn’t have a huge issue with the hiring of Garret when it happened.

The issue has been, keeping him for as long as the team has, despite the results. Going 8-8 for 3 straight years, while having Romo as his QB should have been where it ended.

Those are the most ridiculous resume for a HC I’ve ever seen. Lol

You forgot the most important ones.
Inexperience provided Jerry means to take credit if had success . And Garrett wouldn’t interfere with Jerry.

In 10 years has Jason ever publicly questioned any decision Jerry or Stephen made ?

He does nothing in public.
He never undermined Dan Reeves in public. He lobbied to Jerry.
He never put the knife in Phillips in public, he did that work behind the scenes.
He never bad mouthed TO in public. He got him behind the scenes.
He never publicly said anything about Romo, he just gave his job to someone else.
He never even talked to Dez Bryant, he just listened to his buddy and decided to cut him.

Garrett never does anything in public. He is, and always will be a back door politician. A weasel.

Linehan was the clapper's hand picked OC. Moving on from him would mean he was wrong......AGAIN!

I think the bigger issue is Riley interested in the NFL?

There’s been several rumbles with interest in him but those around Riley have denied he has any interest.

Even if he is interested... being interested in the NFL and being interested in being Jerry’s next puppet aren’t the same thing.

Correct!!

Why come here with Jerry’s dysfunction? And especially if we’re All In on Dak. Double whammy..

Believe me, there isn't a soul reading this that hates the Eagles any more than I do but the very best thing that can happen is for the Cowboys to get completely embarrassed tonight. It would suck, it will piss you off but it's best for this team in the long run.

Basically we need the ole Bismarck Bomber to save us. One way or the other I always knew he would.

Eagles by 30. Garrett gone tommorow, Richard the interim the rest of the season and then we can seriously talk about things like Riley.

Cowboys!
only thing that sucks about that is we dont have that 1st rounder next year

I agree. With that being said, and it sounds strange saying this. I’m afraid Dallas is gonna win and we’re gonna have to look at him again next year

Yep, somehow, some way Garrett will eack out a 8-8 season....doing just enough to survive as HC. A younger Jerry Jones would of fired Garrett 3-4 years ago....now he can get rid of him

He's also been a proven coordinator as well for several years. Anything is better than the guy we're currently stuck with, who never proved anything before he was gifted the job.
Agree that Garrett’s a lost cause, but bringing in some mostly-unproven rah-rah college hot-shot, based on “anything is better than...” doesn’t sound like a winning move.

I can just here the chorus if Riley was hired and didn’t produce right away:

“He’s young...give him time.”

After which, @4-5 seasons later, we’d be calling for Linc’s head and stumping for the next “can’t miss” HC.

Chip Kelly, anyone?

That’s the thing. We’ll probably score 40 tonight. Because we’re the Cowboys!!

I doubt you hate the eagles more than anybody on here but if Dallas does lose tonight then not a single person that wanted the lost should complain at all. We all know that's not going to happen though

I’m scared to hire a college guy but NFL coaches are going to him to learn more about his RPO philosophies.

I’m hoping for Sean Payton but I’ll take Lincoln Riley for sure at this point over Garrett.

We have to move on from that guy even if it’s for change sake.

Screw Lincoln Riley, I don’t understand the infatuation with him. Every time some college coach has a few decent seasons this fan base goes ape for them. The guy has barely scratched the surface as a HC and his defense sucks. I could see him being another gimmicky version of Chip Kelly and be a bust in the NFL.

Not just this fan base, reportedly 28 nfl teams have talked to him about his gimmick offense.
