What kind of year would Michael Gallup be having?

If Dak could anticipate players being open what kind of year would Michael Gallup be having?

He could seriously be considered one of the top offensive rookies if his QB could find him.

That guy is a talent.

If I had to guess based on what I’ve seen in this thread it’s what round you were drafted in.

Antonio Brown - 6th round pick.

Although he's probably the exception and not the rule.

Every year I ask the scouts and draft gurus I know to give me the surprise guy in the draft, the Haason Reddick who kind of comes out of nowhere. Last year before the 2017 season, 3 scouts said Michael Gallup. He might have ended up going in the 3rd round but they all raved about his upside and after the draft, felt Dallas stole a player.

Gallup and Cooper should be a nice tandem for a long time.

The talent is Amari Cooper who before the trade, every WR on the roster was garbage. I told you he was a special talent.

Dak is what he is. But the drive before halftime showed you why the next coach is going to ride with him at QB.

Yah, Im not seeing that as of yet. You keep using the word "enough". Which is what I am talking about. He is good in all those areas you mentioned, but not elite in any of them. Fast "enough" but not elite speed, strong "enough", but not elite strong.

You look at a guy like Cooper and he is elite at several things:

-Elite route running
-Elite 4.3 speed
-Elite YAC ability
-Good size, strong
-Lacks great jump ball ability.

Well, route running comes with experience in the NFL so I don't think you can say that a rookie can't be a #1 because he is not a great route runner. You don't know yet if he will be because he's a rookie.

Lots of #1 WRs did not have 4.3 speed. Heck, a lot of them didn't even have 4.4 speed.

I can understand YAC but first you have to get targets so AYP is probably a better marker.

What is Good Size? Gallup was 6'1 205, Cooper was 6'1 210, so I don't know how big you have to be.

Gallup has very good jumping ability, better then Coopers so who sets the standard for elite? I don't know what that criteria is so it's hard for me to say if Gallup has that or not.

I think Dez is a terrible comparison. They are two much different receivers. I actually don't see Gallup in that class with Dez in his prime.

But I do very much like our receivers going forward. But yes, they need a pro bowl type TE to do with them.

I think he's going to be better then Dez.

I think that this is important and you should ask yourselves if this is the criteria you are using to measure Gallup's potential as a #1 WR.

Are you comparing Gallup's skills to Amari Cooper's, are you comparing Stats? If you are, that's not a very accurate way of measuring Gallup's abilities. First of all, there have been more talented and less talented #1 WRs, from a physical standpoint, then Cooper. Neither of those things dictate success. I think what you do here is you look at the player and you evaluate his skills, based on what he has shown, athletic wise, and you project. This does not mean that Gallup will be a #1 WR but that's not really the question I have asked. What I have asked is what you measure a #1 on. I mean, I don't know how you couldn't look at Gallup and not see that potential already there.

I think prime Dez's playing level is similar to prime Cooper's (not sure if we got prime Cooper, but his route separation has been impressive), but I think Gallup could be better than Williams at his best.

Its because you are arguing about him being a low end #1, and I am arguing about him being one of the best receivers in the NFL. That's the difference.

OMG...…...Gallup to me is already head and shoulders better than Williams. I hated Williams as a #2.

You can not make a definitive statement on how strong Gallup will or will not be. He hasn't been through his first complete NFL offseason program. That's foolish to me. Now, I will say this, I don't think that he will be as strong as Dez either but I'm not going to say that as a certainty. Dez was a big kid coming out and that really didn't help him as he got older. Dez never really had elite speed or quickness so as he got older, his size only made it more difficult for him to create seperation. Dez never had consistently great hands so losing that ability to create separation is what eventually killed his career here in Dallas, among other things. Gallup, because he is quicker and because he is not as physically thick might have the advantage there. We don't know yet.

As of now, I am not seeing elite level talent in Gallop. But its only the first 10 games of his rookie career. But somehow, you can? Ridiculous.
