We may not need to win but the momentum this game provides going forward is huge and it could change the season.
Which is exactly why this game shouldn’t be glossed over as non-critical.

I disagree. We need to win every game here on out until Feb.

Eagles/Colts will not roll over for Dallas if we lose tomorrow

I think it depends on the goal. If it's just to slide into the playoffs for one week and go home, then it's not a need.

But if the team, not to mention the fan base, wants confidence that more is possible then beating the Saints would be a way to get it.

To win the division.

The Egirls next week will go further in determining the division.

And if we sweep then we’ll only need a couple more wins regardless what they do.

Beat the Eagles and 9-7 will be enough.

I agree but Dallas then needs to beat Philly & Colts next two weeks to win this division.

I don’t know that it has to be the Colts.

I figured if we beat Philly, Tampa and NY we can lose to NO and Indy.

That’s assuming of course Wash doesn’t go 4-1 with Colt.

After sitting at 3-5 and the season on the brink of a total collapse I’d argue just making the playoffs would be surpassing expectations. Anything beyond that is pure gravy.

I disagree. If you want to make the playoffs, you win at home and you win in your division. Cowboys have 3 home games in a row. They won one of three against the Natives. If they do not come out 3-0, they will not make the playoffs. I GUARANTEE.

Losing never helps you win. "HELLO! YOU PLAY THE GAME TO WIN."

I don’t disagree that would be the ideal situation. My point remains though that it’s not needed.

And beating the Saints is certainly not needed to win division. But the Egirls is.

I understand the division games are must wins. you have to sweep Philly and the Giants. But you also have to win those home games (Saints, Colts, and Buccaneers).

The reason I said if they do not sweep the remaining division games and win at home is because of the QBs/teams they play at home (Brees, Luck, and Jamies). You use the same formula to win each one of those games...win time of possession. You win your home games and beat the Giants you are 10-6 even with losing to the "Egirls". However, you would own every tie breaker with the Eagles who would have lost to the Saints, and Buccaneers. Washington has lost to Indy and Atlanta. You have to beat the Saints, Indy, and win one more NFC East game to get into the playoffs without depending on a lost by the Natives and the Eagles. That is the only guaranteed way to the playoffs for the Cowboys.

Dallas simply needs to win every game they can from here on out. While beating New Orleans would serve to boost their confidence and make winning the Eastern Division a bit easier, it wouldn't make us a lock to win the division title, either. What it would do is to make winning the remaining games on our schedule considerably more important. I also expect the Colts to offer a tough challenge in our upcoming game with them. There'll be no cakewalk!

If we win all the remaining games, we win "all".

If by "all," you mean winning the Eastern Division, you'd be correct. Then, we'd be faced with winning a conference title, etc., etc. To me, "all" means winning the Super Bowl . . . but that's another animal altogether. (We should be so lucky!!) ;)

My "All" did not include the SB.

Win or lose on Thursday night, the Cowboys have get to 10 wins if they want to have a decent chance at a post season appearance. They do not much tie breaker leverage for the wild card.

If they want to make any noise in January they need to beat the Saints. If this team is as good as the homers say they are, they need to beat the Saints.

yep just getting in the playoffs is enough. lmao.. lower bar.. give Garrett the COY again too while we're at it.
Would you prefer to not be in the playoffs? This is the team, your team, and it's not as good as the Rams or Saints right now and maybe not CHI but winning the division is nothing to put down.

If the team wins the division, that means the QB is playing well and the D is forming up nicely and they have a shot at taking the next step in 19. If they win the division this year, they are closer to the next level and winning it again in 19, which has not been done in 15 seasons.

If that's too low a bar for you then why in the hell are you here? Those 20 winning seasons in a row and 3 out of 4 SB's are long gone in the rear view mirror. I got accused of that lowering the bar crap years ago and I didn't like it then. Those Cowboys that established that bar for you and me are long gone and haven't been seen, except for glimpses, in 23 years.

The playoffs will be more interesting to most here with the Cowboys in it and it may just be me but being the East Champion is important. SB or bust fans should have jumped ship a long time ago.

I don't raise or lower the bar but am more than glad to belly on up to one.
