Something that Dak doesn't do that would help him alot

why didn't brees "slide up" Thursday night? answer, we sealed the middle. works the same for dak.
Actually Brees dealt with the pressure pretty well and did do a lot of slick things in the pocket that Dak lacks. Brees was facing a much better, much faster pass rush, was playing from behind, and still took 5 less sacks than Dak. The problem for Brees is in addition to facing a good pass rush he also faced a very good secondary that was all over his targets all night long and gave him nothing easy all night long. Dak faced a trash secondary which included a horrific performance by Eli Apple that should have been exploited a lot more than it was.

Why in the world would Peyton take on a job as a qb coach? If he decides to get back into football, it would be as a part owner of a franchise.

Peyton Manning was used as an example that Jerry has enough money to hire anyone and the best if he wants to SHEESH!!!!

For anyone that does not believe a coach cannot coach this issue out of a player should go back and listen to Bill Parcells REPEATEDLY yelling "#9, you got to get the ball out #9" or "Tony, it's 1,2, 3 throw".

Now, could that fix Dak? I don't know.

But I wish we had someone doing to him what Parcells did to Romo.

Wish Parcell's could have done it with Romo lead teams maybe they would have won more than 2 playoff games. 1, 2, 3 throw... oops. Do over?

Bingo!

I wonder if everyone who questions why Dak is not stepping up into the pocket actually realizes that many times pressure is coming from the interior???

I wonder if they realize that it happened with Romo too. Pocket collapsing, woops, take off man. Good thing Dak is built like a tank and too bad Romo wasn't

I agree. The Washington game and some in the atl game he did step up and had success. But he he didn't in the NO game and hasn't done it much at all this year. I'm a fan of his but that is one part of his game that i hate.
agree, during this 4 game run, he actually has been stepping up into it a lot better
and....seeing a lot less of the silly reverse "romo'esque" rollouts to the left that seemed to be trouble every time.
seeing less the spread legs jump ball pass that had nothing on it either

someone is coaching him up......no doubt, he is improving on some previously recognized weakness's and his game is improving

Now........add to his list ball security, get some touch on balls when needed ( missed td pass to gallup, and the missed Td to N.Brown from the5....) just get some air under some balls when the time needs it

he is getting better, but he needs to be consistently better during a season, even during a game. 12 fumbles just too much from QB position.

Why doesn't Dak step up in the pocket and avoid about half of these sacks? Is it just me or does he seem to always go back during the rush? I swear these coaches are just not teaching him the little things that would make a big difference. I don't think Garrett is going anywhere but lord we need a QB coach.........
How about stop hopping up and down, set your feet and throw !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt that Peyton would even consider coaching, at any price. He has more money than he can spend without putting in endless hours coaching. I think he makes more doing a few commercials than he could make in a year as a QB coach. Today's high-profile athletes (especially QB's) make so much money in a career that coaching simply isn't an option they consider.
He may want to coach for fun. Retirement can get a little stale maybe

Peyton can't afford that. Only qb that can is collin Kaep after he wins his collusion case against the NFL and gets a billion.

Cause there is no where to step up. We've seen Dak step up in the pocket as a rookie and most of last season ; just not as much this season. Looney is respectable but he ain't Freddie.

How do you know the coaches aren't telling him that..you can't hold someone's hand during the game

Again, why does Collins get a pass from fans when it’s obvious he’s backslid and responsible for so much of the pressure? I don’t get it.

I think people understood the coaching change hurt him in particular. However, with that problem remedied hes running out of excuses.

And here I thought the answer would be taking up sewing, so he could learn how to thread the needle :lmao:

When Collins was at Guard, the pressure was coming up the middle regularly, just as we did vs Brees. Filo has been stronger, but with a bum ankle, he gave up middle pressure this week as well. Martin isn’t at full strength, and despite the praise for Looney, he’s not Frederick, not close. Add the weakness up the middle with Collins whiffing a couple times per game and Tyron being out, that’s pressure off the edges too.

Dak has walked into sacks trying to climb the pocket, and he’s rolled into sacks trying to get outside and keep his eyes downfield.

What some call a lack of pocket awareness, I see as a QB trying to stand tough in the pocket, ala Aikman, and take the hit in exchange for delivering a last second pass.

My complaint is that we all know a lot of our plays require time to develop, but Dak has to know how long each play takes and give up on it sooner....throw it away, take off running sooner.....he will get blasted for both when a receiver breaks free at the last second, but not giving up on plays is what’s leading to these fumbles.

Regardless of silly fans calling for more downfield shots when the protection is breaking down, just check it down to give someone a chance or throw it away. Those are smart decisions when you finally have a decent defense, whether fans complain or not.

Worse yet Jerry has enough money he could hire Peyton Manning to be the QB coach its not like it counts against the cap. Coaching is the one thing you can buy that has an incredible impact on the team and Jerry is so slow coming around to realize this .

With the proper QB coaching Dak would be close to a finished product . With the water boy in charge of the job it could take 5 yrs as Dak will just learn everything the hard way
I'll never understand why he didn't pay Romo to be qb coach. I think Romo was instrumental in daks rookie year success

The strategy is to not rush the ball to throw interceptions... they're willing to trade that for more sacks, holding the ball, etc.

Dak is a bus driver.

Nothing more.

Brews also has 17 years more NFL experience and better coaching.

You may be right, but I just don't see the wealthy superstars wanting to sacrifice the endless hours required from pro coaches. If they did choose to coach, it would be for love of the game, not the money.

I want to see Dak tuck it and run more, even if for 2-3 yds. Step up in the pocket, if nothing is open right away, take off. If he does that a few times, it will start keeping the LBs closer to the line, opening up passing lanes.

Also, can we use more slants and seam routes, also some circle routes.
