Agent's Take: Cowboys likely to go on spending spree during 2019 NFL offseason
Owner Jerry Jones has exercised restraint the last few years, but that will change in the offseason

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has exercised fiscal restraint over the last couple of years. Things are about to change in Dallas during the upcoming offseason. His check book is going to open wide.

Jones announced his intention to give quarterback Dak Prescott a new deal hours after a home loss to the Titans on "Monday Night Football'' earlier this month. The 2016 fourth-round pick becomes eligible for a contract extension once the regular season ends on December 30. Signing wide receiver Amari Cooper, who was acquired from the Raiders for a 2019 first-round pick as the late October trading deadline approached, to a new contract reportedly is an offseason priority. Pro Bowl defensive end Demarcus Lawrence also has an expiring contract.

Check out 2019 and 2020 list of our own free agents .........2020 is the monster. I'm guessing they will use 2019 to try and get some of the 2020 signed.

Yeef! That's quite a list. Let's hope Stephen keeps it real.
 
As noted the past few years.....this coming offseason is one where Dallas will likely dole out some big contracts just to keep above the floor and retain core players. Don't be surprised if we dip into the free agent market heavier as well. There is a ton of cap to spend.

And remember we tried to pay Sammy Watkins...
 
Paying the defense is going to be tough. All these guys need paid in the next two years.

Blue Chips: DLaw, Byron, Jaylon
Studs with off field issues: Gregory, Irving

Not sure where I stand with Maliek Collins.

This is pretty staggering considering Dak, Zeke, and Amari need paid on the offensive side of the ball.

Good to know we have been drafting well but future drafts are not guaranteed to bring in good talent. Not sure how much room we have for FAs. Need to win now.

For the record, last month, Stephen singled out DLaw, Byron Jones, Dak at the top of his list. Sure there are more but I think he threw those names out for quick reference of what he was facing for 2019.
 
List is polluted with min salary vets and guys that won't be back.

C.Reid dude has been a player for us and I dont think it will cost must to get him for a 3 year deal?

Swaim yes.

Flemming if the price is right as a nice swing tackle

Irving if hes cheap and produces down this home stretch I re-sign him to a "prove it" cheap contract hes an absolute force in games

LP if he wants another season sure...

Everyone else looks like roster churners or can be replaced if they cant be had for mins

Because the franchise tag for Dak would be over 25M in 2020 and then you gotta pay him 120% of that (30M) the following year.
The more reasonable approach is pay him now and get the discount then spread out his cap hits.
 
We have the space and they know who they need to keep winning. I trust mcclay and Stephen determining who should stay and go
