Look, ruffian, this board has long called for Lee, Witten, Romo, etc. to be "coaches" in whatever capacity.
The diff is, with 78%-80% of NFL players being black, rarely do I see a call for a black player to immediately start coaching in the NFL.
What is up with this?
I think I know.

The discussion was in regards to Lee taking an assistant role. stay on topic or keep your ignorance to yourself.

He's been a coach?
Well, boy howdy, bloke, guess I was wrong!
And this will be distressing news to the 1,000 other more qualified coaches --- of all colors --- to know they will have to wait because of your enthusiasm for a brittle player. I mean, he can play, correct. Then of course he knows how to coach!
Ive seen him on sidelines with LVE. Those two are talking almost rvery minute the defense is not on the field. I don't know how much of that to contribute to LVE's success but I feel sure it's substantial.

They did exactly that with Doug Free
no they extended him and paid him everything and more. remember they were paying him dead money. And only did that because they needed the caproom. They dont need cap this yr or next season or the season after that. did u know that right now they are scheduled to have 113mil in caproom in 2020? They will still have 22 people under contract too.

Don't hint at racism if you believe it is the reason. Say it. You have never been shy.

BTW... I disagree with the premise if that is what you are hinting at. Lett is the assistant D-line coach

Obviously he has some prorated signing bonus that will accelerate into the cap if he is cut or traded. $3m?

If we make him a reserve next year and we cut him back to say $3.5 million per year, as I understand it, he would count $6.5 million on the cap with no dead money at the expiration of his contract.

The real cost of keeping him in that case would be $3.5 million because we are going to eat the $3m next year whether we keep him or not. So we aren't going to save a ton on him one way or the other. Someone will have to fill his spot if he is cut or traded and unless it's a cheap draft pick it's not going to be substantial.

Essentially if we want to spend Lee's money somewhere else about the only way to get some significant savings out of that $7m salary is with a cheap draft pick.

I wouldn't mind seeing him as a very reserve backup (play only when needed (20 percent of the snaps) and not be forced into playing time. I also wouldn't mind it if we saved cap by drafting a rookie to replace him.

he’s maximized every ounce of natural ability his body gave him. He looks like his natural body weight should be like 190. I think his hamstrings are never gonna cooperate and he’s gonna be our head defensive coordinator after playing a few more seasons.

But there’s potential here imo for him to step aside and avoid all this consternation.
Yes I t it's his last year. I said when he was drafted that he was too small to play LB in the NFL.

If he'd play at a reduced salary it would be great to keep him.
He can still play at a high level but obviously health is always a concern.
Not against rotating him some with LVE & Jaylon, and in base having him in with those two.
Play him around 25-30 snaps a game.

It may be his last season of being just a player but I think he will continue playing as well as making the transition to coach.
