That's 2 picks, and a fumble. Dak fought well today. He was able to overcome his turnovers for the win.
But that last pass to Cooper should have been picked. The corner had the inside and Cooper saved the day by running into the CB. Take a good look at Dak's feet when he throws it. Back foot jumping into the air. Who coaches that? He had no velocity at all on the ball. Should have been a pick six and horrendous loss. But I'm not complaining.....
As a DB you are supposed to drive through the WR on that slant with right arm behind the player and left arm knocking down the ball.
Trying to undercut it leaves you open to exactly what happened.
Cooper basically played a CB technique and sealed the guy inside.
Dak hardly deserves credit for some masterful throw there but Douglas gambled and lost; and Dak got them to that point with another drive down the field.
Dak ended the game with a QB rating over 100 again and DAL dominated the game on 3rd down creating an insane 32 1st downs and piling up yardage every series but the 1st one.
As Troy is fond of saying NFL QBs earn their salary on 3rd down. 1st and 2nd is on coaching but 3rd down is the QB down.
Picking up 3rd downs and putting points on the board when it matters late is where QBs separate themselves.
Right now for a young QB with plenty of technique flaws(back foot throws and lack of ball security--common young qb mistakes btw) you've got the major intangibles in place.
Dak needs a top notch personal position coach when the season is over.
If Linehan doesn't want that they need to fire Linehan for that reason alone.
Brady and others use those guys to this day at 40+.
Technique is largely muscle memory and repetition.
End of the day, 5 wins in a row including knocking off the 1st place NFCE team at the itme then beating the defending SB champs twice and the hottest team in football... anyone who can't appreciate that is just a sad, sad individual.
This is about as good and meaningful a run as DAL has had in 23 years.
