Dak appears more and more to be a Quincy Carter clone

I'll leave out the cons...here are some Pros for both players

Carter
seemed to have a stronger arm
was more athletic (mobility and speed)
could pull off the spectacular, occasionally

Dak
better overall leader
sturdier frame
way better team representative off the field...obviously
due to his work ethic, can be counted on to work on his game

Carter was below average. No doubt. Dak is above him slightly right now. Can Dak improve? Maybe. I was watching Carter at UGA. I couldn't believe it when the Cowboys drafted him. I was stoked, for a minute. Soon to realize that Carter doesn't have it for the NFL.. The Team around Carter wasn't much better. Dak has considerably more talent around him. I do see a resemblance in Carter/Dak. It is exactly correct to what Redball is talking about. Only difference is I still think Dak can turn it around. I hope Dak can. But, I also hope that Dallas doesn't waste the young talent they have at key positions waiting for this guy to turn it around. He's got another year IMO... Get better, or out.
Clear eyed view.

I always chuckle when the forum gets it's knickers in a knot over a player.

The coaches need to see it.

Not us.

I know it bothers some to compare DAK to a failed QB/drug dude.

That is not my point at all.

It's the overall results with DAK.

At least Quincy Carter has the weed excuse to fall back on as to why his passes were errant as well as his lack of football IQ...

Your argument fails on the overall results as well.

I've posted the numbers to support my claim numerous times so I'm not doing that again. Nothing is going to change your feelz on the subject because you've offered little else as evidence.

Is Dak great? Nope. But he's not Quincy Carter.

Also, to be fair to Quicy, he also didn’t play in this pass happy era, where DBs can’t touch you. I guess he also has that...

LMAO, we beat the .team considered to be the best in the league
Once.

Then celebrated like it was the SB.

This is the immaturity of this team and what we are dealing with.

And DAK for all his talk about his mom and why he is who he is..

she would not be too happy with his play.

And I appreciate his beliefs he has from his mom.

But he needs to look in the mirror and have a come to Jesus with her.

As far as "raw born with it skills" Carter was actually better than Dak. He had a stronger arm, quicker release and was more accurate. Dak just does not have certain aspects of his game and he never will. He's so inaccurate and chokes worse the more open a receiver is.

I actually liked Quincy Carter. He did throw a lot more picks.

After yesterday's performance...

I tried looking at our schedule to see who we have beaten this year that has a winning record..

Other than the Saints..

I could not find anyone.

Unless you want to count the Iggles who are now 1 game behind us and closing.

This says it all.

The playoffs are not someplace we will succeed.

Our 90's something offense run by DAK who appears more and more to be a Quincy Carter Clone..

will not be able to score enough.

All the teams are good there except us.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I am sure you guys will.

Winning the division is not going to help us.
Hard to disagree with you, Red..

Dak Prescott mastered the playbook in one preseason and had the best rookie QB season of any player in NFL history. Fans see 3 DL in the backfield and say Dak has a fatal flaw in pocket awareness.

Quincy Carter never mastered the playbook and his "leadership" was so bad that his coaches and teammates hated him. He was cut at the first excuse and never started in the NFL again. That is the definition of fatal flaw and fans don't see it.

Quincy was a better athlete but you need to rewatch the tape if you think he was more accurate than Dez. Dez will have bad passes - Carson Wentz had more last week - but the reason Quincy had ONE good season was that his receiver corps was Joey Galloway, Terry Glenn and Antonio Bryant. They made adjustments on every pass Quincy threw and Quincy also had Jason Witten and Dan Campbell at TE along with a great dump off option in FB Richie Anderson.

If you look at the passing chart it shouldn't surprise anyone why his yardage totals are so low typically. If not for the YAC ability of Cooper his numbers wouldn't even be as good as they are. A lot of underneath throws. How many deep balls has he missed Gallup on this year? With the exception of the one against the Skins (but hey a blind squirrel does find a nut once in a while).

Dallas is 17th in the league in YAC and were 28th when Amari Cooper joined the team. If you want to discount Dak on that stats, you have discount more than half the league along with him.

Pat Mahomes is 2nd in the NFL in YAC yardage, I don't see anyone discounting his play based on YAC.

Quincy Carter actually had a quality season in 2003 and was slated to start the next year. Parcells had no trouble moving on though given the opportunity. If we have the opportunity to get better at the QB position, we should take it.

But Mahomes also has plenty of balls down field outside of a 10-15 yard window he completes too. That's my point, when do we get those from Dak? We don't.
