Against Tampa Bay, the Cowboys defense scored 7 points on the fumble return, and essentially scored another 7 with the Tampa turnover deep in the red zone. On its own, the Cowboys offense scored just 13 points- against one of the worst defenses in the league (Tampa defense ranked #24). Tampa's D gives up an average of 28.7 points per game.

The previous week, against a defense that gives up an average of 21.8 points per game, the Cowboys offense scored zero.

In the last 2 games, the Cowboys offense has essentially scored an average of 6.5 points per game.

The possible culprits (GM, coaches, players) have been discussed ad nauseam. Regardless, this offense is not inspiring confidence for a play-off run.

its a concern but theres no such thing as essentially..if you havent notice teams could fumble, throw an INT, get stopped etc etc..the offense scored those points..wasn't that the one throw to gallup? they earned the 7..the defense collapsed against Philly late and who bailed them out? The offense.. its team game RZ needs fixing for sure but we didnt have many drives against tb as they owned TOP especially yhe 1st half so its deceiving.. they have been working on the RZ offense, hopefully it pans out even further in the playoffs..

So many things wrong with this thread. I'm guessing you're not a Cowboys fan especially the way this is worded. Clearly a clever troll job. Anyways, the last two games demonstrate "trend" but it's foolish or convenient (depending on agenda) to use a two game sample size to determine postseason success.

To be fair, one of the reasons Tampa gives up 28 points is exactly why we got 27. They commit a ton of turnovers and give a lot of short field TDs. But yes, this offense is anemic on a good day.

The offense has been fairly poor all year.
It is not all that talented. In fact no unit is likely top 10 overall except maybe RB if you count Zeke super heavily and ignore everyone else.

But the team took the game off against Indy period. That was just woeful to a man.
And against the Bucs they scored 20 on offense. The QB scored 12 of them with 1 TD pass and 1 TD run.

Until the OL gets healthier, the WR corps gets healthier (Austin and Beasley both very banged up) this is what we have to work with.
TE group is never gonna be among top 20 units in football but at least it has come off 31 or 32 with emergence of Schultz.

The offense does not stink. I actually like our players. Next year Conners will be NFL rdy and maybe Fred will be back. We have a legit #1 WR who now draws double cover regularily, a good slot WR and and promising #2. We have a really good RB and very serviceable TEs.

Only one position lacks. But that is actually the worst to have a bad player at.

Give this team a good QB and sky is the limit.

That’s not how it works. You can’t take points off the board because they had favorable position, anymore then you can put them on the board for things like blocked fgs etc

A 3-yard drive is not offense. Sorry.

A great deal of our problems appear to originate with our difficulties on the OL. We need a promising OT to be ready to fill in for Tyron when he's unable to contribute. A center might be another to replace Frederick for the same reason. Another OG to either replace Williams or fill in for Zack Martin when he's hurt could also turn out to be a blessing. TE too, anyone? Seems to me like those things might constitute a good start to resolving our offensive woes.

That's revisionist history. First of all, when the defense scores (which is, by the way, a good thing) it takes away an opportunity to score for the offense, takes away time of possession, and other performance statistics.

Secondly, you can't "uncount" a score by the offense on a short field. While the defense set it up, the offense did score.

Third, you have to consider situational football. The offense goes into a very conservative mode once the game becomes out of reach of the other team because ball protection becomes more important at that point.

The offense is a bit lethargic. That much is undeniable. There is enough to complain about on offense without making things up to attempt to make a fallistic argument in favor or your position.

The only time a game has been out of reach for an opponent this year, was late against Jacksonville.

Yes. And here lies the problem. The resources needed to fix that issue were devoted to other areas. The Cowboys did get value for those resources. The bigger question is- was that the best allocation of those resources.

No question the offensive line has taken a big step backwards, and is a huge part of the problem. Given that the team will likely stick with Dak, this is what needs to be done.

Thats the reason i was so angry about the Cooper trade. We needed those resources at the QB position not at the WR or others.

Cooper is a great player for us. But we need a QB. We needed that pick to draft or trade for one.
