Rapoport: Zeke wants a new contract this offseason

..this is where you want Belichick mentality. If some of these guys want fortunes, cut em'. Only a QB could hold his pants for descent cash. Draft some good OL players and any runner can run those holes.

This story would come out right before the biggest game of our season.......SMH

BTW.....are we willing to go back the any RB can run behind this line card? I don't think so. Zeke is a legit 3-down back.....hard to find.

I don't have the energy to read this whole thread, but my thoughts are that I don't blame any player for trying to maximize their earnings. I just wish this could have waited until the offseason.
Of course.

So, would you rather make 100 million and lose or make 80 million and win?

...could be bad Omen for game. Nothing like talk of money to bring the Devil and his advocates to play.

Receivers are completely different. What I’m saying is I think we could find a suitable RB that would be adequate, and much cheaper, if we had an upgraded O line which is much more important than a single RB IMO.
Understood.

Not sure about that, really.

If we had everybody on the OL back and healthy..

maybe.

We are not an elite OL anymore.

An ordinary back lesser than the best in the NFL like Zeke would not carry us.

Just saying.

Thanx for playing along.

This is the funny thing about people talking about how we have so much cap room. We have so many guys coming up for big deals that we are gonna be in the same position as always....not active in free agency.

We have Zeke, Dak, Cooper on offense and Tank, Byron, Jaylon, Gregory all coming up on D. That is 7 guys that you want to keep for sure.

This wasn't surprising. The question is will we give it to him?

It may be better if we extend him now in terms of cap on down the road. I don't think we will extend him two years early.

100% not a chance. RB you do NOT extend early. He could easily get hurt. They are prime candidates for franchise tagging.

Add 2 years and another 28million guaranteed. With incentives he can make an additional 17-8 million on that deal.

2 years, 35 million if he hits it all.

Sell it like he can then get another huge contract. Spread the cap hit out over the next 5 years.

Expensive by worth it.

The possibility exists we might trade somebody so to save something.

Like Oakland did with Cooper.

Who says we have to resign them all.?

I agree, our O line is still quite good but not what it was in ‘16 or even last year. That’s why I would prioritize spending cap space on the O line rather than a single RB. If this line gets worse, so will Zeke’s production (already has), so will Dak’s production and so will the receivers production. The overall success of the offense hinges on the O line no matter who is at RB, QB or receiver. With our current situation up front, siging Zeke to a big contract would not be a priority IMO.
