Well, if the Cowboys and Jerry have given up on him, then I'm not sure how anyone could trust him going forward.

The Cowboys must have their reasons for keeping the issue with Irving under wraps. It has been said it's an INJURY issue, others are claiming it's PERSONAL ISSUES. Whatever it is, we know what it's NOT.

If he'd flunked another drug test, believe me, we'd know. The team can't keep something like that quiet and Garrett wouldn't be bothering with this 'day to day' responses to questions about Irving.

I know some fans have been holding out hope that the team has been holding David Irving back as some sort of secret weapon for the playoffs. He obviously didn't play this weekend.

It has been reported that his injury isn't issue at this point. From a team perspective, he has obviously let his team down over and over.

Are there some here that still hold out hope that he will be a part of the Cowboys plans in the future?
Did Irving do something personally to you? Otherwise I don't really get this thread but it happens.

If Irving cannot be trusted to make himself available, he can't be trusted to help the Cowboys, period.

He's had more than sufficient time to recover from his high ankle sprain. He's way too selfish to keep.

One of the staff writers on DCcom said 2 weeks into the injury not to expect him back this year. He's mental, has a nutter for an X and theres a child in the middle. Bout the best to hope for now is someone will sign him and there is a 7th round comp pick!

People said this about Gregory, too. The story is never finished until you see the credits roll after The End.

Now after those tweets/articles were posted- the following were posted

It can’t be understated how huge this would be for us. If you think Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence look great now, just wait until there’s a sack-a-game type of monster wrecking the interior of their o-line. Our defense would go from great to terrifying.

If he can battle his demons as Randy Gregory has yes I would, he's a talented football player he's just a knucklehead, but you have to want to be helped before anyone can help you.

Gregory's was marijuana and depression.

Irving's is coke, baby mama drama, lack of interest in football and possibly depression.

Irving is not a bad guy when listening to him. His ambition has been shot and that type of drug is highly addictive because of the temporary escape it provides.

When you come down from it nothing matters but the pain and making it go away. At that point the temptation to make it go away temporarily is very strong and easy to do if you have the money.

Only way is to get off the wheel and bite the pain and clean up and assess yourself a program to rehabilitate yourself. Chris Carter did it and we had our own Michael Irvin who somehow could function. He may have been more for the party where Irving is for the escape of problems.

I have never done it before but I have seen many people unfortunately and it's a scary disease to watch people live through.

If Irving is working on that first and foremost I don't blame him because believe me, there will never be the focus needed in any aspect of his life and career with that disease taking over his life.

So let him rehabilitate if that's what he's doing. He is not distracting the team and they seem to be giving him his privacy.

First I’ve heard Coke is the problem. Where’d you hear that?

His talent dictates that he will get more chances. Like it or not that fact will have to be accepted.

Randy Gregory doesn't have demons.

The NFL has a thinking problem.

Disagree on that one.

If someone offers you a million dollar a year job and says the only condition is you have to stop eating hamburgers, then stop eating hambers or get a different job.

I don't think pot should be illegal, but there are plenty of jobs he could have done that wouldn't care if he smoked.

He always knew what he would have to do to play in this league, he just had other priorities.

Marijuana he got suspended 4 games for.

Xanax they found in his system.

He's been medicated with opiods and other pain killers and stated this off season that every game he's played in he's been medicated.

There were posters earlier in the season who had some links and posts to cocaine.

Irving has admitted that his issues he is rehabilitating are for substance abuse and if he's no good for himself he's no good for football.

They can't clearly come out and say each and every substance because there's privacy policies and rightfully so.

There are just so many troubled, drug-crazed, violent players available, maybe we should just move on to the next project.

I neither hold out Hope nor have given up hope. To me the possibility of him playing or not isn’t worth worrying about either way at this point. If he plays again, that’s fine, and if he doesn’t, that’s fine too.

Even if he can come back, he will be not worth the roster spot. He isn't in game shape and would be akin to where he would be physically to where he was before preseason workouts.
