The blueprint to slow the Rams was provided by Detroit?

I remember reading a couple different articles about this. Even though the Lions didn't win they gave the Rams all they could handle and the Bears and Eagles took ideas from that game plan. Do not sell out to stop the run, do not bite on any PA, that's how they generate their big plays.

Eagles and Bears have solid run defenses with just their front 7. Chicago was first in the league, Philly 7th.

Dallas? 5th.

Yep, nice find. I assumed we would just target what the Bears did....generally they just use four man pass rush and play coverage. We will mix in a few blitzes I am sure.

I've been looking for a couple other articles I read a few weeks ago about what the Bears and Eagles also did, but can't find them. It was basically, bringing and disguising pressure and stunts, varying the coverages because Goff was having difficulty reading coverages, especially when teams started ignoring PA. Showing different shell coverages that were fooling Goff. I can't remember exactly what was mentioned, but it was along those lines.

It was 16-13 after 3 quarters. Pretty decent for a team with a very mediocre defense.

The thing we have going for us that other teams don't is our version of "sitting back and allowing the run" still includes LVE, J. Smith, and the Hot Boyz in a nickel package that's been effective against the run.

We have a good defense and I love it.

The score was 16-13 until the last 6 minutes of the game. The Lions had the right game plan, just not the talent to completely pull it off, coupled with a bad turnover. The game was a lot closer than the score indicated.

I've always said I don't get why LB do that anyway. I understand if it's like 3rd/4th inches getting fooled but otherwise just wait till the rb gets to you if your dline doesn't stop him then make the play. Seems pretty common but people's instincts get used against them all the time

But their offense wasn't exactly explosive all day. Even Gurley's day was deceptive. He only had about 60 yds and no TDs until they scored with 6 minutes left. He had about a 15 yd TD run then, and then had a 40 yd scamper when Detroit was selling out at the end of the game. The Lions did a very good job of staying in the game with a team much better than them.
