Any reason to believe Dak era will surpass Romo era?

If this dysfunctional organization couldn’t build a good enough team around Romo why do we believe they will around Dak?

Well the one advantage that Dak has over Romo is that he is entering into a dysfunctional organization that is drafting well. With Romo, it was he was in an organization that drafted well, but the one thing I disliked about Parcells was he basically tore down the organization structure he build, and took his people with him when he went to miami, Jeff Ireland for one. So Jerrah took over drafting again and had some very disastrous drafts. It wasn't until Romo was past his prime that the organization started drafting well again. The only problem is we'll will always have a puppet coach, which is why Jerry likes Garrett. As for as the Dak era being better, well Romo took it upon himself to improve. Hopefully Dak will do the same thing and work on his footwork. Romo worked on his release time, which would also be something good for dak to work on. Dunno if he can fix accuracy all together and I'm still wish it was as easy as Dak calling up McNabb and asking him what his secret was for being a deep threat and McNabb saying and McNabb does that Mel Gibson line from the Patriot and says something like "Aim small, Miss small" and it works. Ah well... :)

They have had some very good drafts, maybe even great drafts. Except remove day 3 from last year. IMO anyway, but a few picks have grown on me, like Schultz, maybe Armstrong. Want to see what Wilson does.
But they also have salary cap room without having to worry about restructures to gain cap space.

That is a huge plus going forward. There is a very good core of talent to build around now. When Garrett took over he had to rebuild a lot. He started by getting rid of over paid, under performing, aging players. And many on the OL. Then have to do the without much cap room.
Stephen had to deal with Jerry's past mistakes of overpaying, and making bad trades.

All that seems in the distant past now. As I said in a thread I created yesterday. I am doing a rest and looking to the past 3 years as whining about the past 8 years and past 20 years, what good does that really do. If fans want to wallow in that misery over that, then so be to. I won't do it. All maybe throw in a barb here and there, but as a joke, not as a complaint.

He’s started as a rookie and we didn’t lose three years of his career rebuilding a roster that had fallen apart from 2007.
at this point Dak and injuries don't seem to be a problem, so much time was lost with Romo especially at the end of the seasons. so Dak should have a better chance if he can get his mechanics worked out if not it will not matter.

Romo started with much better coaching in Parcels. Dak is stuck with JG. They haven’t had a losing season yet but the coaching must improve if they want to get over the hump.
Assuming the coaching doesn’t get better is Dak enough to take us further than Romo did with this HC?

Is our 22nd ranked QB just a great coach away from becoming a top 10 QB?

I think Dak would benefit greatly from an OC whose not hellbent on making him into a pure pocket passer. I at least want to him work with someone other than Linehan before dismissing his chances.

Dismissing his chances? Daks going to be here for several more years.

He’s already taken us to the same place Romo has by 25.

IMO, this team is much smarter than the one Romo had. We can complain about coaching all we want but they understand how to win is by controlling TOP and running the football. Romo and co. Didn’t realize that until he was 33 years old.

Yeah I judge Dak based on how well he can play with incompetent coaching and a outdated playbook that doesn’t take advantage of his strengths. Imagine a playbook that did?

He was 22nd ranked but mind you before actually having a number one receiver he was almost last place of not last place. He was closer to top 10 to end the season then he was 22nd.

Do you think Dak elevates our teams with horrid defenses and no running game In 2011,2012 and 2013 to week 17 play in games?

I have no idea. I see him play one way against Jacksonville and entirely different against the Rams. He's all over the map. I don't think he's ever going to be as good as Romo, but he may not have to be.

Dallas had 1 playoff appearance in the final 6 seasons of TR starting. Only 1 time did the team surpass. 500.

Since TR was replaced by Dak the team has won 2 division titles in 3 years and never been .500 or below.
So Dak has already surpassed the teams TR had.

Since I believe most if not all agree Dak isn't as good as TR was at his peak it is pretty clear the organization has simply gotten better and has a plan that wins games.

The time to go further is slowly closing.

You got deals to the QB, RB, WR, LB(Smith), CB(Jones) quickly approaching and the deals to the Offensive line are hitting their peaks too.

Right now with their star players on peanut deals is the time to try to be aggressive, get one or two good free agents and compete with the top teams before everyone gets paid and you got to start thinking about restructuring deals and cutting guys.

I think Dak has a shot, but at the same time there will be highs and lows. Right now he is near the highs, but once the offensive line needs to be rebuilt, and the team now has the 216-19 draft classes signed, we'll see how he does during the lows.

He has a young RB and 2 young receivers with promise. It's certainly possible, but hard to say when his story has just begun.
