Some more from Stephen...
https://1053thefan.radio.com/articles/news/cowboys-tight-end-will-be-priority-offseason

"I think we got some good young players. I think Blake Jarwin, in particular, probably has the most upside. Is he ready right this second ... probably not," Jones said on his weekly radio show with Ben and Skin on 105.3 The Fan. "I think tight end is very important. In terms of one of our top needs and what we'll be looking at in the draft and looking for ways to make that a stronger spot. It feels like we don't have that quote on quote Jason Witten, Jay Novachek, number one tight end."
Need a Jay Novachek -He was a major part of 3 Super Bowl Championships

It's called SMOKE my brother.I don't like SJ, but he's not dumb. More Arrogant than anyone in Dallas? Yes. But not dumb at all, Hea saying ezaxtly what he wants to say. Double, triple, and quadruple reverse psychology
Actually this is not the first time Ive heard him play his cards before the game started. His arrogance is probably the only thing I don't like about him.....because it makes him say stuff like this.

Just don't draft one in the 2nd round. History isn't our friend when we take a TE there. 3rd seems to be out spot for TE.

He's a crybaby that wouldn't come off the field on critical passing plays but he didn't make any gamechanging plays that won beans . He had a ton of receptions but a third of them were for 3 yards on 3rd and 10.
The cowboys need an athletic receiving te and get away from the prototype designated blockers who can't jump .Lol . We're trying to win football games not sell groceries. Or are we???

If he didnt play everydown he woulda got beaten out by Martellus Bennett and we probably would have another Superbowl or 2 but Jerrah likes to stick with the popular non Scoring type and play the endorsable player.

Do we have some kind of witness protection program for fans?

There are no smoke and mirrors with us. Hope it doesnt hurt us

It's funny how Stephen telegraphs these positions of need early on and we're still able to get a player at the position, usually with an early pick. It's like everyone forgets his comments.

The fact that WR and TE were such huge needs that they traded a first for one, and now might be thinking of taking one with their first pick in 2019, is a complete indictment against the staff after all the crap they talked about feeling good going into the season with Hurns and Barwin as the #1’s.

They completely bungled that entire situation.

They're never going to tell you going into a season that they think the players they have are lousy. Look at what they do, not what they say.

I think it hurt us at times and makes us reach on players like say Taco. I'm still high on Taco's potential but what could have been?

I'm sure they didn't feel like they were reaching based on their grades, but they were apparently wrong on the player.

But how do you interpert "priority". Does it mean using the highest pick we can on a TE, or a middle round pick ...

At the end of the day, every team knows the needs of every other team, and besides, Stephen didn't say TE was the top priority, or even a top priority, so who knows if he is thinking 2nd round or 5th round or some other round. Other teams don't know either, so I doubt teams will be chasing their tail round after round to jump ahead of the Cowboys

Meaning if there is a TE of value on the board when we get ready to pick no matter what the round is.

Just don't draft one in the 2nd round. History isn't our friend when we take a TE there. 3rd seems to be out spot for TE.

Both Bennett and Fasano were good tight ends.
Only Escobar was a bust, but you are talking about a 66% hit rate.
In 1995 the Cowboys took Kendell Watkins(6'1, 280+Lb) in the 2nd round who was a "TE" but was more of an offensive lineman and he tore his ACL in 96.

Bennett retired early(10 years in league) and Fasano played for over 10 years.

There is no Witten in front of the young guys who is on the field for 98% of snaps anymore.

We've only taken 1 TE in the 3rd round since Jerry bought the team. Too small of a sample size to say it's our "sweet" spot to draft a TE.

Anywho, I would be fine with either round unless a guy like Hockenson, Smith JR fall to #58. Then I want one in round 2.

Exactly, so would other teams scramble to jump ahead of the Cowboys every round to take a TE in every round not knowing if the Cowboys even have an interest in a TE in that round? Suggesting they will draft a TE somewhere in the draft isn't really a revelation.
