Romo is a smart guy, but he couldn't even be bothered enough to stay in shape....he was a dough boy for the last 4-5 years, which certainly didn't help his ability to escape pressure; and stay healthy. Never came into camp the last 4-5 years in shape. That being said, I doubt he would be willing to put in the hard long hours needed.

Looks like old JJ turned another page!! or new JJ added a page to an old book. JG the hatchet man, who knew. I'm still intrigued with the rumor that JG is getting kicked upstairs to GM to work with McClay and SJ. I doubt it happens because that just adds turmoil with a new HC and OC coming in. Still, intriguing none the less. Lot's of college and NFL coaches at the Senior Bowl.

Just say thank you JJ

I doubt this was Jason's decision, even if he wanted Scott gone. Doesn't seem to me like he has any real say in who is and isn't on what is really Jerry's coaching staff.

I'm leaning toward internal. They can tweak to better suit their personnel and rework the situational playcalling to make improvements. Blowing up the offense is going to become a work in progress with no guarantees. Cowboys already have a stout running game, they just need to alter the passing game so that Dak is more of a threat and it can become an extension of the running game with more a quick hitting style and RAC opportunities.

It does bring up an interesting topic of discussion. What odds would you put on Romo becoming the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys at some point in the future. I think it’s got to be better than 50/50. I just see him wanting to take that path. With the stats he put up mixed with how good he is in the booth, if he were to win a Super Bowl as a head coach, he could very well get into the HOF someday. I think he is going to want to continue chasing a title as a coach. It’s the missing piece to his career and he would have 10 offers for TV the day he retires from coaching so that gig will always be there for him.
If the over/under was 50 percent, I would take the over.

Yes, an NFC championship and SB are missing from Romo's career. Would he come back as an OC? He certainly knows the system but he has zero coaching experience. I never bought in to him being a mentor to Dak on the sidelines. Some former players have turned in to solid coaches but some haven't. There certainly is no guarantee. Interesting to think about tho. I'm reading that Doug Nussmeier is the favorite internal candidate. He has experience as an OC. Still that doesn't fly with the "opportunities could open up in the next two weeks" statement by JJ. Is there a young assistant on any of the 4 remaining playoff teams that he could be eyeing? Or a college OC who could be at the Senior Bowl? I honestly don't believe it will be Romo.

External. What good does it do to bring in somebody who is already here. How is that going to help develop our young QB?

Nussmeier is the only internal candidate worthy of any consideration at all, and I wouldn’t consider him a top candidate.

He's the odds on favorite if it's internal. Still that doesn't fit the "things can open up in the next two weeks". I know that's JJ creating an illusion but he has changed his style a bit this year. Dez out, Linnehan out, big in season trade. Something or someone is pushing him away from the stand pat days

Well being physically fit doesnt indict a persons ablitiy to 1.)Coach 2.) scheme or 3.) call a great game...

Prime examples of this?
Andy Reid... not exactly worried about his "dough boy" appereance as youve stated
Bill Belichick isnt exactly rico suave
Sean Payton seems to enjoy a very healthy serving of seconds and thirds while at the dinner table

McVay is fit....

3 out of the 4 top coaches going Conference championship week would be "dough boy" by your definition thus probably don't put in hard work
