What’s been the best of the last 23 seasons?

Don’t think they beat that Pats team in the SB. We didn’t have the DL to dominate Brady like NY did.

Our DL wasnt as good as the Giants. That’s true. But the cowboys defense did have 46 sacks that season. Our pass rush was really good in its own right.

We also had Wade Phillips coaching who is one of the few defensive coordinators to hold his own against the patriots in the playoffs.

Obviously we will never know who wins.

Ok........and we swept the Giants that season, until the playoffs happened........

The question was which team I thought was the best. I thought that was our best team the last 23 years.

We will never know if they beat the patriots or not but I think they would have had a shot. That cowboys team was incredibly talented.

I think 2007 was their most complete team. Their defense was good too. But I think the 2014 team had a dominant offense that controlled the time of possession and dictated their own terms.

After watching the conference championship games today for the 23rd year without the Cowboys, my depressed mind turned to wondering a sad question- which of the last 23 seasons was “the best”? Still amazes me that none of those 23 included even a divisional playoff win.

But with that said, I would have to say either the
1. 2007 season which was Romo’s breakout season when they went 13-3 and probably had their best team and best chance to win it all.

2. Or the 2016 team that also went 13-3 unexpectedly during Dak and Zeke’s rookie season. It came out of nowhere which made it doubly fun and doubly disappointing when we lost to the packers.

Sad to say that two seasons where we won 13 games yet didn’t win a playoff game are the two seasons I enjoyed most in the last 23.

As a Cowboys fan since 1964, I cannot believe how frustrating it is to watch another season pass without much to show for it.
2007 was definitely our year, Crayton gave the game away

2014 we should've been up more at at the half, but why did our defense have to be so frickin bad.

2016, still have Romo. Coaches are still learning and don't understand rooks don't win it all, they literally were the reason we stood no chance.

No argument there. Our offense in 2014 was incredible. Almost unstoppable.

And we beat the Seahawks in Seattle that season. If it wasn’t for the BS Dez call against the packers...... man

2016 was a really fun year. I’m young, so I didn’t get to experience the 90’s with the cowboys, but I was old enough to experience the Romo era and the now “Dak” Era. 2016 was really fun because I always find it fun watching rookies play extraordinarily in the NFL. That’s why I enjoy watching people like Patrick Mahomes or even Mitch Trubisky play (even though both of them are in their 2nd years). Dak and Zeke were an amazing duo that could not be stopped (however they were stopped by the stupid Packers).

I still have nightmarish dreams about the Dez no catch, the Jared Cook toe drag, and I'm sure going forward, that awful play call on 4th and 1. Following and believing in this franchise is so emotionally taxing.

Can't imagine what it's like to be a Browns or Lions fan.

2007 was better. Better team. Better game day coaching. Almost made it past the Giants, who made an historic run, with TO playing injured and only lasting a half. Would have still won if Crayton hadn't pulled up on the 2nd to last pass.

YouTube rewatching the 1992 championship game. Aikman to Harper up 24-20.
2007 followed by 2009.
2007 should have gotten to SB.

The 2007 team was easily our best team since 1995 (and possibly since 1994 as I’ve never felt the 95 Cowboys were all that good, that was a really down year in the NFL).

People forget how good that team was. We won 10 games by double digit marginsanf had 5 wins against playoff teams.

It’s damn near criminal that they didn’t at least make it to the Super Bowl......

Same exact with me. I was definitely convinced down the stretch that 2007 was Dallas' year. That Giants loss still stings.

I felt pretty good about 2014 too though.

2014 was the best offense, but the dline just wasn't competitive for the playoffs. Especially with Terrell McClain out. I think have the dline never played another regular season snap in the nfl.

2007, 2009, 2014 and 2016 were all really fun

I still believe the 2014 team wins the Super Bowl if the Dez catch is upheld

I don't think we even win the game. Rodgers was walking over our defense at that point. We needed to run down the clock as much as score.

2007 team was too busy reading their own press clippings, which has happen a lot with these millennial Cowboys. But on both sides of the ball tha was the team....who knows how a SB appearance that year would have changed the course of Cowboys history.

This is a fun thread. I enjoyed the Demarcus Ware (1), Marcus Spears (1), Kevin Burnett (2), Chris Canty (4) draft at the beginning of the Parcells 3-4 era. I thought we were on our way to building a dominating defense and would have a great team for years to come.
