Cedrick Wilson anybody

I really think some of the problem people have with him is they felt early in his career there was at least a chance to be a top level #2 who could step in to the #1 role in a pinch,

I think that is most of it with me, Dallas said they had a first round grade on TWill when he was drafted but he never developed into that type of player. We still got a good return for the #3 pick we used, but nothing like they hoped for.

That said, he was only on the roster this year because his salary was guaranteed. Next year he has a salary of 3.5 Million and we save one million under the cap by cutting him so I don't see him on the roster unless he renegotiates his contract down dramatically.

Yep, I watched him a lot at Boise. I was shocked that he ran a 4.5 at the combine because all he did was run away from everybody at Boise. He's a really good player without the ball in his hands too.

Forty times are deceptive.

Orlando Scandrick ran a 4.32 and Tavon Austin ran a 4.34 forty; however, on the field Scandrick was not remotely as fast as Austin. I've never seen a college player including Deion that appeared to be faster than Tavon Austin. Meanwhile, I've literally seen Jeff Heath run past Orlando Scandrick on more than one occasion.

Dez ran a 4.52 forty, but in his first couple of years with the Cowboys he was incredibly dynamic as a punt returner. There is no way that time accurately reflected his on-field speed at that point in his life.

And just getting away from Linehan's uber-predictable style is going to help as well.

I have no idea what that's going to look like.

Will Moore be allowed to be the true offensive coordinator or will Garrett take back more control? The Joneses had forced Garrett to give Linehan autonomy as the OC which was the right method but the wrong person.
Any OC should have full control of play design, play calls and personnel.

Something happened around mid-season where there was an obvious change with regards to the play design. I've heard Doug Nussmeier was involved with that as well as Moore getting more involved.

Linehan's biggest issue was lack of communication with players, IMO.

Every time Twill had the chance to step up to show he could be a #1 WR he disappeared. They times Dez was injured, Twill did not step up. He had some pretty good games as the #2, but still disappeared more often than he should have.

I always thought he was decent as a #2, but was a declining some. I will be fine either way, stays or leaves. But at this point prefer him to go, as he may be a progress stopper since he most likely will not be here past this next season.

So Brown, Wilson even if Hurns returns in time, he will just make them get less time or push them onto have more success somewhere else.

The best example of that is Everson Walls on the old teams. He timed something like a 4.8 or 4.9 forty and went undrafted when the draft was 12 rounds. Then he started as a rookie and ran step for step with almost every WR in the NFL.

Agree.

Jerry Rice
Mike Irvin
Emmitt Smith

Loved him at Boise State. Has the ability to make a big play and was great at contesting some tough catches with his good size. He didn't come across to me as a super flashy player but was very dependable. I'm excited to see what he can bring to the table and hoping he can translate to the NFL.
he wont be much of a factor until late 2019 or 2020

How tall and what is his weight.
I looked at 3 different places and none of them agree.
Cowboys sight has him at 6-5, but weight says 6-2, click on his name, 6-5 and weight of Zero
Another sight says 6-2 and 197, a third has as of the draft 6-3 and 183.

We do need a bigger WR than we do have IMO, so if he is 6-3 to 6-5, but prefer in the 220 range.
I think he is supposed to be pretty fast though, which means the 6-2, 197 is more like it.

From what I thought he was the 6-2 197. Haha Sounds like nobody knows. I don't know this for a fact, just what I've read. This one sounds the most accurate from his Boise State days.

...and that was the third dumbest thing he did that night.

I like the direction this WR corps is going in. Cooper and Gallup are the future. While we may lose Beasley, Wilson has shown ability. Hopefully he is recovered from injury.

Signing a decent contributor in FA or drafting a talent with potential in the draft would contribute greatly with the other building blocks we have in place already.

I need to look at the stable of other late rd WR's also.

Why stop there? Why not give TWill another 6 years here, because he may eventually show something. Lol

Well, he has shown something. Not enough vs. expectations and certainly not as consistently as desired. But there's a big divide between "....another 6 years" and let him come to camp and compete.

I would have cut him at the cut to 53 last year. I hope he doesn't make it to the cut to 53 this year. If we don't improve on his position we have failed, especially for the cap hit he is getting.

But both his off the field problem and the injury that cost him a lot of time were one time things. There is no past history of either. I really think some of the problem people have with him is they felt early in his career there was at least a chance to be a top level #2 who could step in to the #1 role in a pinch, and when he turned out to be less than that the fans turned on him. I'm not going to be upset either way it goes, but in fairness, he would be a nice luxury as the #3-4 WR.
He's had several issues off the field I thought...at strip clubs and now the intoxication thing. He hasn't been injured that much. I would keep him at a slight pay cut or if he beats out hurns. Only 1 of those guys should make it imo. He could be a good wr3 and a decent wr2 in a pinch.

Amari
Gallup
Hurns/twill
Austin for cheap?
Noah
cedric Wilson
Camp bodies like d.smith

I don't recall incidents in strip clubs, but I can't claim to have never forgotten things. I don't think I'm missing any significant incidents though, am I?

In any case, I agree with your take. He would be a good guy to keep, but we don't really need both him and Hurns.

That'll be the end result if he competes in camp and can't win the job. But if he does outperform the others in camp vying for the 4th WR position he should be win the position. Although he'll have to drastically outperform given the salary differential.

The only reason he stuck last year was the guaranteed money. I think if Wilson had not been injured it is possible that he wouldn't have survived the cut to 53 this past season

I think you're right on that.

He always seemed content to be #2 to dez's #1. Never made any effort to challenge for the spot.
