Is there a possibility of Zeke holding out?

You missed the point. When Bell wasnt there, they had another quality back come in and did a great job. James Conner missed the last 3 or 4 games of the season FYI. Conner at least kept them in playoff contention.

Zeke needs rest as well. Cant feed the kid the ball 30 times a game and expect him NOT to slow down. HE was NOT the same back at the end of the season seemed worn down to me.
What important piece do the Steelers have that the Cowboys don't?

POSSIBILITY. You claimed he made a “threat.” I say we let you for rot for a few banned days.

The misleading thread title was cleaned up, but yeah, it originally suggested Zeke was threatening to hold out.

No possibility in his 4th year. 2020 is the possibility of holding out.

I agree 100% here........remember this ownership does not have a good track record of paying its franchise RBs WITHOUT a fight. Two names .......Emmitt Smith and DeMarco Murray. Smith had to hold out and they let Murray walk, only to later regret it. It's would not surprise me at all if his agent hasn't already put Stephen on notice of exactly what you've said. He'll play 2019 but will not play one down 2020 w/o a new deal.

How is it any more funny then pro player? Whats the difference? Cant run a franchise giving every player huge money. Need to run the franchise like a business. Those that do it the best are typically THE best.
Time and time again, cap issues are greatly exaggerated. You give your best players all huge money. Zeke is the best player on the offensive side of the ball. It can be argued that he deserves a few MVP votes for the entire league. He's the game's leading rusher, once again. You can find a runner who's good, but Zeke is special. Just like Connor in Pittsburgh, good, but he ain't Bell.

Emmitt Smith held out in 1993 and they replaced him with a 4th round pick because, of course, there are stud RB's in every round.

...except there isn't.

The Cowboys promptly started the season 0-2. Emmitt was resigned just as promptly afterwords.

Keep in mind, this was the Cowboy "dynasty" of the 90's. They were stacked with talent...that couldn't win without Emmitt, who would be the SB MVP that season.

In 2012 the Cowboys went 12-4 with the leading rusher in the NFL, DeMarco Murray. The Cowboys decided to give Dez all the money and sent Murray packing. But not to worry, they had a quality backup in 5th rounderrounder Randle who was raring to set the NFL world ofire.

....except that he wasn't...and he didn't. The Cowboys went 4-12 and Randle's most memorable moment involved the theft of underwear.

Today, the "elite" offensive line is in turmoil as a result of injury, sickness and now age. Now is not the time for Jerry to demonstrate they don't need Zeke...especially since they really really do.

unless he gets a new contract. I say let him rot. Perfect excuse to draft a young stud with our 3rd round pick and let him start the season.
Zeke was run into the ground this past season in an effort for garrett to save his job. Its coming again with Garrett still the coach. It would be much more beneficial to everyone for this team to have two RBs that can alternate.

Give me Conner at 5 million or less a year over Bell or Zeke at 20 million per season all day long. When you have a Oline as good as ours is supposed to be you shouldnt need a guy like Zeke. And Zeke is among one of 6 0r 7 backs that are considered the best in the NFL. The ONLY people that get excited about rushing titles anymore are a few Cowboys fans. In the modern NFL its about yards from scrimmage and TD's.

How many teams actually let their RB run the ball 350 times a year anymore? There are probably 2 or 3 at most. Its by committee or they get them the ball in the passing game more. Love Zeke, but no way I pay him 20 million a year going into his 6th year.

Common sense. And especially if you want a longer career out of Zeke. Im sure he would welcome someone to take some of the load off of him.

I’m not getting your point lol. Bell wasn’t there because he was ran into the ground. He’s not thee because he wanted money he deserved. Which is exactly what Zeke wants.

Pittsburgh doesn't pay what a player deserved, they pay what they deserve.

My point has nothing to do with Bell. The point is that you need a capable backup RB. Prefer to have him be a young stud like a James Conner, like a Kamara.

Pitt can simply move on without Bell and avoid paying him huge money after 5 or 6 years in the league if need be. And you can find guys like that in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds.
