on the table.

I’m avoiding it like my name is Sandra Bullock.

I know the clueless sheep are running with it. Can’t turn on TV, Radio, or Twitter

Best ever!

And since Brady now has 6, I’m sure they’ve really lost all perspective and there debating who was a better athlete Brady or Jordan

Yeah let’s compare: The ultimate role player vs the greatest one man wrecking crew that sports has ever witnessed(wilt and Jim brown)

Would history be different?

What if Bill Walsh wasn’t driven by rather leave a year too early than a year too late

What if Joe Montana didn’t lose his job to an inferior QB

the Cowboys mini run in the 90’s May never have come to pass

No disrespect to the Cowboys but Walsh/Montana >>> Seifert/Young all day

As the great Eric Bischoff always says: context is king

This is why you shouldn’t label anyone in sports the absolute greatest without proper context

Young was one of the most overrated QBs i ever watched playing. The way the 49ers handled Montanas injury and his demolition i will never forget. How they handeld player like rathman, rice, montana or craig. Players that brought them fame and Fortune. That had no class. Worst franchise in the league. And they havent changed. Just look at the Kapernik case.

Montana is the greatest QB to ever play the game. Brady is lucky to play in the right franchise which is corrupt but has all the right connections. Brady and the Patriots are just a shame for the game.

Young is, IMO, the most underrated QB of all time. The dude was special. Better than Montana, special.
Around 2000 the DMN Site had commentary clips from there sports reporters

In one of the clips, Tim Cowlishaw talked when he was deep inside Jimmy’s inner circle. Jimmy was worried about a matchup with the 1992 Vikings. The only NFC team that concerned him. No fear of the 49ers. Nobody associated with that team was worried about Steve Young. Ask Tony Casillas

I agree Montana is the greatest ever. But Young was awfully damn good. And I don't believe for a second that Jimmy did not pay heed to the 49er's with Young. That is why after the Championship game, he exclaimed "How About Them Cowboys", he knew they had climbed the mountain, that the super bowl was all but won. And the next year when he made the guarantee of victory, it was simply a tool in his tool box to gain a further edge against the measuring stick. Dallas would have beaten Montana and Walsh and with Jimmy they would have won at least 4 in a row over anyone.

In fairness Montana for all intents and purpose missed two straight seasons with injuries and in the second season Young was the NFL MVP. I’m not too sure how you handle that one differently. And technically, they still supposedly did offer Montana a chance to be the starter going into camp in ‘92 but he asked for a trade.

Landry tried to hang on to those same type guys and ran the team into the freaking ground, you have to get rid of those guys sooner or later.

Brees when he was younger reminded me a bit Steve Young, smaller mobile and accurate passers.. Brees is still getting it done but he has lost a step....

Montana is the best ever.

Young was great, but he whipped up on mediocre teams.

Young was a Manziel/Brees Hybrid. Incredible scrambling ability and deadly accurate. But he had some fatal flaws that you could unearth with pressure and elimination of the run game.

The talent around Young was almost unmatched- except by Dallas.

Hopefully we start to see the beginnings of the downfall of Rodgers. New coach, new offensive system, I hope he struggles Bigly.

I saw it as the other way around. Besides the one year they had to go through the Cowboys to get to the SB, the other 3 times were basically uncontested. Steve Young had a monster Cowboys team to contend with every year or I think he wins 3 to 4 SBs.

I didn't notice too much of a drop off from Montana to Young. In the 1990 Championship game when Montana got hurt in the 4th, Young came in and moved the ball right up the field. Something Joe had trouble doing all game. Had Craig not fumbled with 2 and a half minutes left on first down they go on to win 3 in a row.

In all honesty Young was the better statistical QB hands down. But he could be had.

Montana game managed like no other and was completely unflappable in final 2 minutes.

Both were great. I agree the 92, 93 Cowboys beat any Montana led team. They were built to disarm WC teams and undress them with unmatched physicality in the run game.

The Cowboys were brutal and didn't even have personal knowledge of their own ability until after the 2nd SB win.
