Curiously to see why country music is so unpopular? A lot of people say they wish Rammstein would play as a half-time show for the Superbowl.

So I went with an open mind watching this full concert of Rammstein

And I don't get it? I don't understand one word they are saying. I don't understand how anyone is not bore with this type of music?

I'll be watching more concerts of other type of genre.

Country music died a long time ago. It literally no longer exists. It's POP songs about dirt roads and bros.
Lol..and I bet most of these dudes have never been on a dirt road. There's not even any eye candy like Shania twain back in the day, and she actually had some halfway decent songs.
I have a neighbor who is a country music writer, for small time local people mostly, apparently it's pretty rough

Country is the 2nd most popular music format in American radio after Adult Contemporary, which is why after 25 years in radio, I do not listen to radio. News/talk is the most popular radio format, another reason I do not listen as I find it depressing that those people are not incarcerated somewhere and are free to roam the same country that I am.

For years, Country had a stigma attached to it of Bubba and Earline in the single wide comparing gaps in their teeth but it began to change in the 80's and really made a move in the 90's. This was in conjunction with the emergence of Grunge in Rock and the exodus of many listeners in search of something else. Some had already left with the breakup of the Beatles, the real "Day the Music Died" to a large segment of the audience. And Nashville took note and so did the label composers.

"Urban Cowboy" is given responsibility by a lot of consultants for the real take off and glamorizing Country and then there was the Elvis and Michael Jackson of Country, Garth and Country found a new audience and that image of the Grand Ole Opry was replaced by a huge arena act taking Country to where it had never been before.

So, unpopular really only applies to the Country haters, both groups. The ones that hate the twang and the ones that hate the Nashvilling of real Country.

I do not think most people look at it as a choice of Country or Rammstein, there is soooo much in between.

Music labeled "Country Music" is extremely popular
It's probably never been more popular.
Now if you want debate what really is country music, that's another topic. But the genre has exploded.

The OP has started a half dozen threads on different topics since joining this forum and all have been miserable fails.
Sorry, but it's true.:muttley:

Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Charlie Pride, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn. I think that was the last generation of Country Music.

I am a mostly classic rock guy, more specific British Invasion. I like some country, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson ... I guess I even like classic country. What can I say I'm a classic or a relic...

But if that the case, then why don't people who listen to pop like country music? Why is it everyone look at me weirdly when I tell them I love country music? I like the pop country music than the classic country music but I still love both. Maybe its just California that hate country music ugh.

What they call “country” today is a slap in the face to country music. Metal and “old school” country are my two main genres of music.

Willie, Waylon, Cash, Merle, Allison Krauss is pretty cool, Oakridge Boys, Asleep at the Wheel (texas swing), and then there’s some TX country artists that are kind of old schoolish with their own twist (Robert Earl Keen, Rusty Weir (RIP), Gary P Nunn, Tommy Alverson, Billy Joe Shaver, etc).

It took me a while to get into country, then I heard Travis Tritt do T-R-O-U-B-L-E, and I started listening to more. I like Hank Jr., Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, some Toby Keith, and more. But country now is absolute garbage.

American isn’t asking for Rammstein at the SB. How you could even entertain that as a general consensus is what I’d like to know?
