Will the Cowboys have an advantage?

1. Nothing materially has changed with the culture
2. I don't have a problem with Shotty, I have a problem with him being another yes-man coach like Garrett and McCarthy.
3. We've had "decent looking teams" that haven't achieved anything and as I stated earlier, nothing has materially changed about the culture of the franchise or how we evaluate talent.
1) How do you know nothing has changed? He has been the coach for a couple months and they have had a good offseason - are you in the locker room? Are you in the meetings? You are just speculating.

2) Yes man? again you are speculating, Shotty will have his chance to make his own brand - with the offseason it sure seems like hes had some type of positive influrence.

3 same as one

You are just negative and not giving him a chance - sure it might flame out and were likely to be a sub 8 win team, but there is zero reason at this point to have any issue with what Shotty has done here in the short tenure he has had.

Jimmy Johnson was able to 100% establish his coaching culture under Jerry Jones. Bill Parcells tried but was not successful in re-creating his Giants' version in Dallas, although he came close.

Jones' influence was too corrosive towards seeing that possibility come true. Sometimes, even a Super Bowl-caliber head coach cannot enjoy an advantage doing what he does best.
I agree but parcells did get them to the playoffs even with how toxic jones is / was

...I think so. If Dallas was able to scrap 7 wins in brutal 24'. The team got better, at almost every position.

Dak is healthy again. I REALLY feel Shotty, is gonna surprise the league.
Dak is healthy again, so no excuses, right?

1) How do you know nothing has changed?
Because we once again have an offseason where a whole lot of lip service has been paid to prop up a guy who has never had any success in all the years he has been in the NFL.

2) Yes man? again you are speculating,
Actually it's a more than healthy guess given the Jones clan's track record of people they hire

You are just negative and not giving him a chance
I don't need to give crack cocaine a chance to know it's bad for me - same with this. The circus culture still exists and just because they hired a new yes man to hold a clipboard on the sidelines doesn't mean jack squat.

First 4 games of the season:

Filthy
Gnats
Da Bears
Cheese Heads.

The Cowboys have a brand new coaching staff position wise pretty much from top to bottom. New defensive schemes, new offensive schemes and new special teams. Sure Shotty was the OC last year but that was in name only. MM ran the Texas Toast offense which only gave lip service to the running game. Shotty has come out the gate saying that’s going to change.

So I think the Cowboys will have at least a little bit of an advantage early on. They’ll need it for sure.

Let’s hope!
I think you have to come out of those first four at 3-1 as the back end of the schedule is brutal with 3 games in 11 days around Thanksgiving and some tough 2nd half games.

And that likely means beating the Giants, Bears and Packers because I can't see how they are winning that first game unless Philly is really, really rusty.

It could work but at the same time it could also be a weakness we don't know how they're gonna come together I don't like the fact that we're not gonna have time to even ease into the season and figure our identity out so you better hope these coaches are better than last year's coaches that took eight games before they realized Rico was a starter before they realized that our offensive line didn't have the best 5 out there and Zach Martin wasn't at his best that people were not playing well they couldn't even figure that out until almost halfway through the season...

I do believe this coaching staff will be smarter than that I mean they do realize that that's what all these camps are for that's what training camps for that's what preseason for you're supposed to work out all those details before game one not be using the regular season as an experiment to figure out who's the best roster the best starting 22 they had it all wrong for a while...

At the same time I used to argue against the fact that Mike Mccarthy should have been let go after the Green Bay game but after seeing that disaster last year he needed to go we did not need to go into this season with a bunch of lame duck coaches I thought it would inspire them to not lose their job and instead it made them lethargic and lazy and obviously the right thing to do would have been letting them go early but now going with this new staff I love this staff schottenheimer is still a big question mark but his staff looks like a great staff that will be well prepared..

But I'm not going to guess how the seasons going to go I watch it one game at a time and I got to hope that we get healthy quick meaning some of these guys were missing is the only reason I'm really not feeling well on defense with a bunch of guys coming off knee injuries especially at corner but missing overshown I mean he's the X Factor.

So it makes me a little uncomfortable starting out the season with a strong set of opponents and it really doesn't seem to ease up much it's gonna test this staff early and often and maybe that's a good thing there is gonna be no sitting and waiting to get better it's opening up the season and just going for it...

Funny how WASH had all new everything including a rookie QB and hey reached the NFC Title game, yet DAL probably won't even make the playoffs. They will just use all the excuses in place.
Actually, your argument works for us,

I mean you do realize how ironic your statement is if they can do it in their first season with Dan Quinn of all people and a bunch of ex cowboys players and coaches and by the way could barely beat us with our practice squad players in the second game actually pulled Jayden Daniels and they got their butts kicked in the NFC championship guy by the way that means the Cowboys have every bit a chance to also be in the NFC Championship game this year..
the odds are with us right ,we changed out a bunch of stuff, no one's going to see us coming, everyone's going to think we're going to lose every game just like you... you only seen it from Washington side like we can't do that you didn't remember, we just went through a stretch went healthy of winning 36 games 2 division titles and went to the playoffs three straight years?

wow, this fan base is sold on the fact that we could win seven games with a bunch of backups in a terrible year but can't win 10 to 11 games and have a shot at doing something in the playoffs it's inseparable you guys only want to see the negative, but everything is lining up that that could be the very thing that's positive...

it's whatever side you're on the silver lining or the jaded fan base so you can see how you want but I'm going with silver linings playbook and I think they're going to an NFC championship game this year, and I know I already made a post about it, I'm putting myself out there, i'm exposing myself to all the receipt keepers and I'm going to say this,

If healthy, if Prescott who by the way has never had a season with less than nine wins when healthy, he's never had a losing season ,if he has a healthy team and a good support system we will go to the NFC championship game this year barring major injuries barring losing Prescott or major key players,

They will go to the N F C Championship game, book it...

Bookmarked. Done.

Everyone can only imagine what might have been if Jerry Jones self-contained himself as he did late winter 1989 through the winter of early 1994.

Hey make sure you put the disclaimers in there.lol

I have an out; key injuries, losing players, important players at key positions for the year, including in absolutely the number one player would be Prescott..

we need to start the season and finish with him , people don't realize that gives us a leg up (pun intended), some of your haters just don't like the fact that Prescott does give us our best chance to win double digits and to go further....

And you realize I said that before the Pickens trade and I also believe the Cowboys are not done there's some rumor out there that there were two significant trades that were in the works they made one happen I still believe they're probably going to bring somebody else here like a corner maybe Jalen Ramsey I know they say it's not but that doesn't mean it doesn't change they also have an opportunity if needed to bring over say Nick Chubb if they don't like what they see early in camp.

So ,I said this before all this happened and they're still building....

why are you even following the team this year? You clearly have already made up you mind in terms of how they are going to peform.

I am realistic and don't think were going to get over 8 wins, but i am also not going to call the season over and the coach a failure before the first practice snap.

I feel bad for you, sorry you are so negative, hopefully you are a more positive person in other parts of your life.

There really are no hidden secrets with this team. Pressure Dak and play man to man. Double Parsons on passing downs and chip him on screens and throwing behind him.

lol seriously. guys will grasp at anything.
and they don't realize they get 100 times more reps in practice, closed practices , for no one to see the new scheme!! that's an advantage nobody lays out game plans and schemes in the freaking preseason games for everyone too see!!!

Who does that? nobody,

that's why those 15 to 30 snaps for some of our starters people are all crying about are all in vanilla nongame plans, it's going against no game plan, bringing out no game plan it has no actual advantage anymore...

They practice plenty and they scrimmage plenty that is why they call it practice and the ones that are called closed practices that's where they're getting all their work done seven on seven eleven on elevens that you never see that's where the game plans and new schemes are implemented.

Who in the world lets people think that that somehow preseason like it was in the 80s or pre 80s and as the 90s finished it started changing they do not play a lot of starters to get ready for the season that is no longer necessary these guys most of the great ones stay in shape year round there's enough practices in camps to implement all your game plans and your strategies you don't put it on blast in a preseason game you don't even put it on blast and open practices people have zero idea of how professional teams are ran they will hide this from everyone until the regular season starts...

It never ceases to amaze me on how clueless and delusional fans are of how professional teams are ran and they think they know more than professional staffs..

What's the advantage again? New schemes that we won't have practiced in preseason because the Joneses are terrified of injury?

You may not have noticed that I did so in the post that you replied to. I do not believe it was necessary for you to repeat that you 'have an out' after already specifying them.

Why is it a disadvantage to a team when they change a coordinator or coordinators, but it’s an advantage to the Dallas Cowboys when change their entire coaching staff? Schotty never said he was OC in name only, he had a role. And didn’t MM talk about more focus on the run game before last season?

The talk didn’t mean much last off season and doesn’t mean any more this offseason.

Just making sure I cover myself here.. The more proof I have the better I can defend myself come February LOL . I will not hide I will not go away I will be here like usual unfortunately for you all..

Tradition, plus I need some comic relief in my life.
I feel bad for you, sorry you are so negative
Please don't. I follow this team with a "the other shoe will drop soon" mentality. What you claim is negativity is simply me being realistic of a franchise that has essentially spent the last 30 years mailing it in. Let's face it, The Dallas Cowboys are not a serious football team, run by serious people. It's more like a money generating brand name at this point and football just happens be some something that it does to fulfill some obligation.
