Best one ever was on the Newlywed Game.

Q: In your neighborhood, what direction does the sun rise from?
Husbands all look puzzled, and give the right answer.

Wives come back and have to answer, not seeing how their husbands answered.
All the wives got it wrong and berated their husbands for not matching them.
None of the husbands let out a peep in protest.

The 2 best answers on The Newlywed Game were "the butt" and "Ben-Gay" .

I've got an amazing recipe for herbed potatoes that would rival any 5-star restaurant. I can sing all the words to Feel For You by Chaka Khan. My hands measure 9 1/4". I've played 18,826 unique words on Words with Friends. I am not currently wearing an AFO. I've driven a school bus (here's the cue for anyone not happy with our QB situation).

All of those things are just as predictive as the Wonderlic of my ability to be a successful offensive coordinator.

I have no idea if Boy Genius can do the job. I don't know him and have never spoken to him. I just want to get back to the Superbowl and win the thing. We have several issues with our Cowboys. Not the least of which was a very mundane and predictable offensive game plan. In my opinion, we need an offense that is unpredictable that poses a consistent threat to defenses. I'm going to be rooting hard for Moore to bring that to the team.

She asked you the question on Saturday or who was playing the Saturday SB game? There is a difference. If she asked the question Saturday then she isn't a football junky. If she asked who was playing the Saturday SB game she's daft :muttley::facepalm:
Asked on Saturday who was playing on Sunday...after 2 weeks of me watching NFL network and listening to NFL radio talking about nothing else. Oblivious.

Ha ha. Just looked up the Wonderlic of our new and improved boy genius Kellen Moore - 26.

This team is such a clown show. The *only* qualification they've ever pointed to with Moore is his supposed genius, yet that appears to be a complete fraud, and one publicly verified as a fraud.

Some reporter has got to ask Jerry:
You and your staff have been raving about Kellen Moore's intelligence.
Yet his wonderlic was 26, only slightly above average versus the general population, and lower than Travis and Zeke.
Do you see Moore as smarter than they are? If so, why?

The wonderlic test is useless. If it helps you, Quincy Carter scored higher than Peyton Manning.

No, it's not

I agree with you that it's not useless, but neither is it definitive of anything. It's merely one of many tools teams use to evaluate a player, but in and of itself it doesn't mean much unless the score is so low it proves someone simply has no capacity to learn. Obviously that wasn't the case with Moore or Peyton.

Look at wonderlic averages of starting QBs, those who have had long success in this league, look at the wonderlic score of the definitive top 5 QBs of the past decade.

Of course other factors come into it, however, out of everything you measure with a QB - the one thing that will often determine how well they do in this league is the wonderlic. Yes, outliers like Marino, Bradshaw, and McNabb's will happen - two of them played in a different era, one got by with having some athleticism - but if your QB is below the wonderlic average for a QB, yeah it has a cause for concern.

Pointing out some outlier makes you look like a moron. Do you understand that?

Look into the modern era of QBs, their wonderlic scores - the average to have a successful NFL career at QB is around 25-28. The average wonderlic score for those who have won a Super Bowl is 30.

The wonderlic for all starting QBs right now

Carson Wentz - 40
Alex Smith - 40
Eli Manning - 39
Matthew Stafford - 38
Andrew Luck - 37
Jared Goff - 36
Aaron Rodgers - 35
Ryan Tannehill - 34
Tom Brady - 33
Marcus Mariota - 33
Kirk Cousins - 33
Matt Ryan - 32
Philip Rivers - 30
Josh Rosen - 29
Andy Dalton - 29
Nick Foles - 29
Jimmy G - 29
Sam Darnold - 28
Drew Brees - 28
Russell Wilson -28
Joe Flacco - 27
Jameis Winston - 27
Baker Mayfield - 25
Dak Prescott - 25
Patrick Mahaomes - 24
Cam Newton - 21
Deshaun Watson - 21
Derek Carr - 20

You seeing a pattern here, bud? I swear, I feel like some people took an IQ test and scored in the low 90s and now try to discredit anything that is similar.

If your QB, in the modern era, is below the NFL average it should be a red flag. OBVIOUSLY, there are other factors that can come into play - system, some players can overcome their lack of football IQ and get by with athleticism, some players have the brains but not the arm.

My guess is, you'd have a Morris Claiborne wonderlic score since you think Quincy Carter's wonderlic discredits the entire thing. "Useless" LOL

While I wouldn't say wonderlic is completely worthless, the example he gave of Peyton and Quincy is not an outlier.

Drew Brees had the same 28 Peyton did. Russell Wilson also scored a 28. Roethlesberger has won a couple of Super Bowls and scored a 25. Brett Favre is among the best QBs of all time and a Super Bowl champion and scored a 22. Terry Bradshaw won 4 Super Bowls and scored a 16. Dan Marino scored a 16. Jim Kelly scored a 15.

On the other hand, Quincy Carter scored a 30 and Drew Henson scored a 42. Even top prospects like Brady Quinn (29), David Klingler (30), Rick Mirer (31), Johnny Manziel (32), Joey Harrinton (32), Christian Ponder (35), Matt Leinert (35) and Akili Smith (37) had higher, and some much higher scores, and the wonderlic clearly was miles from telling the whole story.

The definitive top 5 of the last decade? Who would that be? Brady, Brees, Payton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlesberger? 3 of those 5 all had wonderlic scores of 28 or less, all were less than Quincy Carter and a slew of other QBs, many of whom failed despite even being drafted very high.

And, lets ask this question ... if NFL teams felt wonderlic is clear and definitive, why was Tom Brady drafted in the 6th round? And if you explain that away as the Pats ignoreing the wonderlic, then why did high first round picks like Akili Smith, Christian Ponder and Matt Leinart fail despite high wonderlics?

The reality is team's know it isn't a definitive test, and history backs that up. It's a tool for teams to use, not a definitive test.

You're attempting an outlier with Carter....

Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Manning

You can name a few the last 10 years, the fifth QB often flip flops

You then had Rivers, Romo, Big Ben, Eli Manning/Matt Ryan here and there all battling for this. All of which had at the leagues average for wonderlic at the QB position or well above it (Romo and Eli had 37-39, Rivers is 30)

And I already pointed out to you, there are other factors within the success of a QB - some simply don't have the arm, the athletics, or never got with the right coaching staff. HOWEVER, look at the the list of starting QBs I just provided - each and every one of those QBs have different strengths and weaknesses, yes? Yet, they all held a starting job in this league and many of them have held it for a while now. Almost all of them have either the average wonderlic for a QB or above it. I will state again: Other things can be factored in, however, the best way to determine if a QB can make it in this league is a wonderlic score.

The QBs that often fall out of the average are players with athletic abilities, like Cam Newton. It should be no shock that these players rarely win you a Super Bowl though.

An outlier with Carter? Have you seen the list of QBs with higher, and even much higher, wonderlic scores than Manning and Brees? There is a truckload.

You said "definitive top 5" of the last decated, and now you saying you don't know who the 5th in what you called the "definitive top 5" is? In any case, of the one's you considered in the running for the 5th spot, Roethlesburger is the only one that measures up. On top of statistical success that is comparable with any of them, Big Ben is the only one over the last decade that has had significant team success. Romo and Rivers have barely been to the playoffs at all, and had no success when there, and Eli doesn't even have a winning record over the last decade.

As for your comment about players with athletic ability, guys like Mirer, Akili Smith, Christian Ponder, Blaine Gabbert and Matt Leinart were all highly regarded as athletes and had much higher wonderlics than Brees and Peyton and others, and they were all high draft picks. AND, they all failed miserably.

Face it, what Wonderlic really does is help separate out the bottom level guys that have a true difficulty learning, but for guys in the average to above average range the separation in scores doesn't really provide any definitive answers.

I was curious if anyone would mention Drew Henson.

Dak has said otherwise. So has Jerry recently. He's saying he wants changes from Moore, and wants him to contact him if he gets resistance.

May all just be talk. But at least it's talk in the right direction.

The wonderlic is the poor man's I.Q. test. Only a boob would believe a man's intelligence could be measured by a 12 minute test that can be practiced ahead of time.
