Too bad Taco sucks and Gregory is still a big unknown. Unless a discount is worked out, D-Law and his agent are going to milk the Cowboys for everything they've got. Doesn't bode well to keep a competitive team together at this pace.

C'mon...there's plenty in the cap for significant cash flow now.

Tank is good but, not great! He's not a big difference maker and not a game winner. I would offer a reasonable contract of 4 years and 75mil with a
36mil signing bonus. If he won't sign then franchise and let him go next year. Best sign a new DE in the draft this year though.

He played hurt this contract year...and earned his status. One just doesn't rush to Walmart and buy new checker pieces.

I'd offer him in the 18 a year range and be willing to go to 20 and if not tag him again

Just franchise him again. If he won’t play then try and trade him.

I don’t even think the franchise tag is over 20 million.
Why would a team trade for him if he isn’t up under contract tract and he is refusing to play up under the franchise tag? They wouldn’t have any assurance of being able to even use him.

LOL and some people don’t think Dak will get oaid
I dont think Lawrence should be paid that kind of money because of the back issues. Its gonna be just like with Tyron Smith. They will get 3 good years and 3 below avg years. Dak doesnt need to be paid until the end of the 2019 season.

I wonder how the rest of the defensive player are going to feel when they cant get paid because one guy is hogging all the money.

Of course, the entire contract wouldn’t be guaranteed, so they could cut him somewhere in the last 3 years.

I've always felt that it would be a nice, even number, like 5 years, $100 million.

I kinda thought that too and wanted Dallas to only give him a 4 year 80 mil. He is getting greedy asking for 6 years.

Should have gotten this done last year.

Bingo!!!!!!!! you could have easily locked him up @ an average $16-17M. This is what waiting for another year cost. I have no problem this is at all. Like I've said in a few threads, these players play 4-5 years on rookies deals for money far less than their value coz of CBA rookie wage scale. When the time comes for teams to pay the piper, many want them at a reduced rate. A good example is Barley and Zeke. Hard to argue their production isn't right in line with best players at their position but they're stuck on a cheap rookie wage scale contract. Just me, but it's why I have a hard time understanding why fans get upset when time to pay their true value.

I'm 100% confident any deal he signs will likely have 3-year out........but again he's a core player for this team. Pay him..

I don't think he's asking, I think that this was a projection of how his contract might look.

It would basically be a 4 year deal.

Macks deal basically is a 4 yeal deal as well. Bears can cut him with only a 6.8 mil dead cap hit in 3 years(4 total since new deal). He gets 90 mil over 4 years.
I would assume D-Law's would be the same structure unless they restructure it multiple times.
The length doesn't really mean much since contracts aren't fully guaranteed. It's just a way to have a lower cap hit at first and then higher cap hits towards the end when the guaranteed money starts to run dry, aka cutting time.

Anywho, I feel that's too much for D-Law, considering that he always seems to be nicked up every year and he has faded a bit as the year goes on. This is where Taco should of been showing signs of becoming a starter but he has yet to do that, which leaves us with D-Law, RG94 and then potential/misses as depth.

Hawkeye, it's because team's are stuck on salary caps. We all saw how overpaying for Romo, Dez and others limited the Cowboys from fielding a better team. Would you like to see the same thing happen again? At some point, these players need to take a little less if they truly want to play for a chance to get a ring. If not, go make that money somewhere else, but it would be very hard getting paid elsewhere while being able to reach a Super Bowl.

Taco definitely has hurt the team, but it's the team's fault for picking him instead of TJ Watt. Idiots. Marinelli, that's on you!

He'll have us over a barrel. We will have to pay him more than he's worth to keep him coz it's obvious there is no plan b. There is no quick fix to fill his spot if we let him go. Just glad it's not my cheque book that's covering it.
Ohhhhh....but it is, isn’t it? Assuming you’ve bought Cowboys gear, tickets, merchandise, etc.
