Crappy thing about Galloway is that he produced multiple 1,000 yard seasons after leaving Dallas.

As much as I applaud Parcells, I always felt he gave Galloway away unnecessarily for Keyshawn Johnson. And lost a lot of speed for the offense in the process. Johnson had worn out his welcome in Tampa Bay with Gruden and would have been cut anyway, Dallas didn't need to trade away Galloway to get him.

That was the time we should've started trading off anyone of value and done a complete rebuild. The pathetic stance of trying to win w/ no downtime was started at that time, and is a major reason why we haven't had much success in a long time. A simple analysis of that team easily showed it was going nowhere even w/ Aikman and Galloway. It was time for a rebuild. Not rebuilding meant it would be years until relevance.

Once again shows the value of having a real GM, one would could've accurately assessed the talent on that team.

Exactly, Jones only compounded the sins of the past by making desperate, short-sighted moves while attempting to hang on for one last shot at glory. In doing so, he mortgaged both the present and the future. Hard lessons learned.

He didn't learn.

Oh, I think he has. Not quite as well or as quickly as I had hoped, but I think he has.

He did still make the WR Roy Williams mistake year later, but that's long since passed to.

And while he did have several years of "the old Wildcatter: happening in the second round of the draft, that has stopped for the past several years as well.

Given their draft history over the past several years, outside of a Taco Charlton move, their decisions have been excellent and have paid off handsomely in terms of player talent.

I see lessons learned. Not as soon as I wish they would, but learned nonetheless.

That's pretty much their attitude.

Just my opinion, but I can't help but to think that some of it is influenced by who they can't get this year, but might get next year.

I can't prove that definitively, but that's what I think is happening.

Was that the year they signed 2 linebackers from the Titans Super Bowl team and they flamed out as well?

He didn't learn as far as pathetically trying to be a winning team every year.

We just went through the exact same crapp after the 09 season. W/ the team falling apart around him, Jerry still didn't understand how to rebuild. He even turned down trades, a high draft pick for Jenkins and Antonio Cromartie for Tashard Choice.

It was always a stupid thought that most NFL GM's knew better, that a player is good just because he played on a super bowl winning team.

If you look at the draft history for the last 20 years, the drafts where the Cowboys haven't had a 1st round pick have been awful (2000, 2001, 2004, 2009). We'll see if McClay can work some magic this year

It was referred to as the "Pickle Juice game". The temperatures were sweltering, and the Eagles looked prepared and fresh while the Cowboys weren't. Yet another example of why Coaching Matters in my book. One team had it in Andy Reid while the other didn't.

Yep. If I remember right, the temp that day was something like 107. Texas Stadium was a miserable place in those August and early September games after the boxes were added that blocked airflow. Fortunately, my seats were in the shade - I can't imagine what it was like sitting in the sun.
