I’ve definitely considered that. And whether the actual problems have solutions at all. I’m not sure they do, it I’ve long considered the combination of Garrett/Stephen/McClay to be the most reasonable shot at addressing things.

I don’t think that 9 years of coaching tenure necessarily ought to be a free pass to the NFCCG. It depends on the team. And not all NFL jobs are equal. The one in Dallas is one of the hardest jobs in the league.
Right!

What is the realistic solution with Jerry’s ways?

Were you trying to use the word ‘syncophant’ there? It makes more sense. Though I kind of like ‘syncopath’ too, I have to admit.
Yea, I was unsure of his intent as well. Made it difficult to respond. Ha

Depends on what the answer is? Your answer and Jerry’s are probably not aligned.

And why it’s difficult to hold Garrett to the same measurement we would other HC around the league.

The answer is make a damn NFC championship game.

Garret can’t do that under this circumstances he has. Maybe another coach can. But Garrett can’t.

So, that’s your ultimate measurement.? Any HC who can’t make a championship game suks?

Curious why we believe this roster of talent is championship caliber?

Where did I say he sucks?

Please quote me as saying that.

There’s a pretty wide gap between a coach who “sucks” and one who is able to coach a team o championship success. Garret lies somewhere between those two ends of the spectrum.

The problem with fans and the status quo is the thinking that this team who can play some decent games every once in a while due to some star power we have will consistently be able to beat 4 playoff teams in a row.

I say four, because I doubt they're good enough to be the 1st or 2nd seed in this NFC.

The hallmark of Garrett's teams is the ability to win games against bad teams and fortunately for Garrett, the NFC East is extremely weak right now.

We went 5-1 in the division, but 5-5 outside of the division. The thing is, I absolutely expect this team to be demonstrably better next year, but I still don't expect any level of consistently at a high level which the Cowboys have never had under Garrett. It's why he has never reached the NFC Championship. That requires a level of consistency that Garrett does not possess. It's why he has 8.5 years as head coach but only 3 playoff births with a playoff record of 2-3.

McVay performed terribly in the playoffs, but in two years has had his team through 4 playoff games... that is one shy of Garrett in 6.5 less years....

I just find it stunning that people can actually defend his record and this mediocracy.
Paging Hostile, or is he still hiding out at the Homer'sOwn?

Ah! By your logic I’m a ‘yes man’ because I blame the front office, and you’re not because you blame the head coach. Interesting take.

I do find it humorous that you choose to argue in favor of Garret. Because you believe Jerry is a terrible GM.

Yet that terrible GM is the one choosing to keep Garret all these years and for at least another season.

Think about it......

I also don’t like Jerry as a GM. But I think his decision to keep Garret after all this time is a symptom of him being a bad GM. Because Garret while being a decent HC, isn’t good enough.

The difference is you are holding Garrett more responsible than the one who keeps him in place.

Not really. Jerry isn’t going anywhere until he dies.

If there was somebody with the ability to fire him..... I would be calling for him to be fired too.

So I guess I need to attend church more often...... because god is the only one who can do that.

That doesn’t relieve him of responsibility. The fact he isn’t going anywhere cast the gloom of hope over the franchise .

That’s the ultimate goal but not measurement.

Maybe to YOU it isn’t the measurement.

But if a coach isn’t capable of leading his team to a championship then the team is really just pissing into the wind.

Tell you what. Let’s change the measurement to an NFC championship appearance once every 8 seasons? How’s that?
