Jerry is simply appeasing the Lynch Mob adding some Hope for them.

Jerry has every intention of resigning Garrett. As usual it would take a total collapse to bring change.

Yes sir, it's entirely possible and even likely, his way of playing his usual mind games with the fans.

At the same time, it seems highly likely that he's also trying to make JG look good all the while. ;)

He’s actually trying to make himself look good. As usual it’s more about Jerry Jones than Cowboys Football.

Fairly obvious that Kellen Moore is being groomed to eventually replace Jason Garrett as HC.

Say KM’s a quick study, has early success as OC and shows the required leadership skills. Then Jerry might replace JG sooner rather than later; possibly moving him into a FO position.

If, on the other hand, KM suffers growing pains and needs more time, Jerry will likely extend JG a few more years while KM gains experience.

Bottom-line: Kellen Moore’s the new HC-in-waiting. Just a matter of time.

I don't care how bad KM is - I want it to happen. It would be just too sweet.

Boy Genius II replaces Boy Genius I. Heaven!

Since 2013 in the division, take into account the year he had no QB, and a rookie QB for a year after that.

Cowboys vs Giants 9-3 One loss at home in 5 years. All 3 losses by a total of 11 points.
Cowboys vs Skins 9-3 One loss at home in 5 years.
Cowboys vs Eagles 7-5 Only one loss @ Lincoln Financial since 2011.

Yeah, Jason Garrett is a horrible horrible coach.

Again, people are focusing on the fact he's in the last year of his contract. The same thing happened years ago. Garrett coached on the last year of his original 4 year deal without a new deal. My guess is Jerry has no issues doing it this way because it gives him total flexibility to make a coaching decision without any financial repercussions.

He's not horrible. Anyone who says that is just being silly.

But he's not great or even really good either. He's just............ blah.

Garrett has it made. He has a lifelong position with the Cowboys organization in almost any capacity. The Jones family will create a job just for him if it doesn't exist.

I never said Garrett was fired at 3-5 for sure.

Prove that comment. I’ll wait.

Oh you were bullish, you told me , I must've been feeling nervous....lol. joke was on you.

If Moore does a good job, JG gets an extension
If he fails they all get fired
That what I predict

My take is slightly different.......agree with Garrett's extension if Moore does good but I don't think Garrett getting fired is as automatic as some make think unless we have a losing season. We could make the playoffs and miss the NFCCG and Moore first season as OC is highly successful. But his experience is quite obvious also. Other words, he just needs a little more grooming. I can easily a short-term Garrett's extension with this scenario.

Prove it.

Nowhere did I ever utter that Jason Garrett was definitely (or "for sure") getting fired. I probably said to you that you must be getting nervous at 3-5 because I did believe a losing season could result in his firing. Surely, you can see the difference between those two points of view, correct?

You tend to exaggerate the positions people take to fit your argument. In the past, I believe you've accused me of saying Garrett is a "horrible" and/or the worst coach and I have never uttered any such thing.

So you can't prove I said, with certainty, that Jason Garrett was going to get fired "for sure" at 3-5?

I'll own it if you can prove it. If you can find a comment on this board where I said that Jason Garrett is definitely, for sure, going to get fired, I'll own it and say, "you know what, I did say that, you were right........"

The closest to "bullish" I have ever gotten was saying that I thought he could get fired if the 2018 season ended with a losing season. I also think he could get fired after this season if they fail to make the playoffs.

Jerry Jones is comfortable letting Jason Garrett enter the final year of his contract, and he said Garrett is comfortable not having long-term security. Of course, the Cowboys owner also has said f...

Good points my friend.

Both Jerry and Steven have said the team needs to build upon last seasons success. In fact Steven had to defend the organization against accusations they were “satisfied” just being in the playoffs.

Add to that no extension for Garrett and the writing is on the wall. Garrett at a minimum needs to make the playoffs next year. Hard to imagine a scenario where the team doesn’t make the playoffs and yet Jerry hands Garrett a new contract.

Don’t see how Jerry sells that to the fan base. Like you said, Garrett needs to deliver in his contract year.

That’s fair though. They’ve built a good team. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t be able to deliver.

I agree
Jerry likes JG and he wants him to be the guy
My guess the idea of letting him play out his contract was not Jerry’s initial thoughts
I think he was brought around to the idea

You wanna know whats hilarious about the Garrett posse (all 3 or 4 of them)? The moment he is no longer the HC they'll instantly turn on him and say he should have been fired years ago.

LOL. Nothing builds up one's credibility like accusing someone of something and then when called on it, claim you don't want to take the time to prove it.

But I am not really all that surprised by anything you post or do anymore.

Obviously no one could prove that for sure but it certainly was a popular rhetoric being echoed across the site by many that Garrett was on the verge of being fired after 3-5.
