Report: Raiders are shopping Carr

Why not? They're not dumping him this year because his dead cap would be 27 million. Next year his dead cap is 5 mil and cap hit of 21 Mil. They are in good position to draft a QB this year and release Carr next year. Then have someone on the rookie contract saving cap space. That said, see why they might want to trade him now?
Carr's Dead Money is so high because his 2019 19.9m salary is gtd

If he is traded the gtd is traded too and OAK would only be left with 7.5m in Dead Money for 2019

That would be a savings of 15m this year and 21m in 2020

That is a big incentive to find a trade partner if they like Murray

The new team would have Carr for 4/79m with 23m gtd

Amari needed a change of scenery because his drop rate was the highest in the league. He wouldnt of been traded at all had he been catching the ball like he did with Dak. I suspect that might have more to do with Dak doesnt throw a fast ball like Carr and the shorter routes he was asked to run. Between Amari and Zeke catching those short balls and having some big games with a ton of YAC. Daks stats would look a whole lot different.
Raiders had a garbage defense and no RBs. You put Dak on the Raiders and he wouldnt come close to the 4000 passing yards that Carr had.
But the idea is not that I want Carr its that teams that have capable QBs that are every but as good as Dak are trying to upgrade.

Yet Carr has lower YPA than Dak.

You just like to make up a bunch of crap.

Agreed 90%. I just don't like Murray. Not an NFL quarterback. I highly doubt they'd draft Murray although the Raiders have been known to make some extremely questionable 1st round picks. Tim Tebow won the Heisman, so that holds no weight with me. He's a school yard quarterback that's too short but can make some noise until he hits the NFL. He's not winning anything at that level. He should play baseball. He'll make a lot more money and he doesn't even have to be good.

On the Eagles Board we call him Carrbage Time. A lot of his stats are easy drives in the 4th quarter while the D is playing prevent because he's down by 20.

He has a contract, why would he renegotiate to less than half of what his current deal pays him. There’s a lack of quality QBs in the league and someone would easily take him at his cost.
that is why I said what I said at the end...

why invest 35 million of your cap in QB, specially 10 mill in a QB that may never play a down? makes no sense at all.
who said anything about keeping Dak if we had Carr for $10mil? He's under contract for another year, you could easily get some picks from a desperate bottom feeder, hoping for another Herschel Walker type trade if he's as good as some of us believe.

carr had 4,000 yds passing and a higher completion percentage and he didnt have a running game and no #1 WR. We saw what Dak did with out Amari.

He had 4000 yards passing and a lower YPA. All that means is he threw more passes. And they each had Armani for roughly half the season, so I don’t see how 165 more yards on the season and a 1% difference in completion percentage is better than 8 TDs, 3 fewer turnovers and about 250 rushing yards by Dak

sounds familiar.

and it is definitely arguable Dak is better than Eddie Munster Carr
Well it would be nice to have carr as bkup, but jones boys dont want to pay anything for a bkup, and
they for sure dont want andy controversy brewing here with carr vs dak.

Jerry may say hes all in on Dak but he aint gotten a deal yet!
well they havent signed anyone recently, probably waiting till after the draft.
The jones boys are pondering with their vast football genius right now.
They will make some decisions later on.

Don't kill the messenger here but I don't believe this for a second. Gruden preference has always been seasoned vet QBs.

Report: Raiders are shopping Derek Carr
Posted by Mike Florio on March 2, 2019, 6:03 PM EST
Well, now the offseason is getting interesting.

Master Tesfatsion of Bleacher Report reports that the Raiders were shopping quarterback Derek Carr at the Scouting Combine.

While few players are unshoppable (Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, Aaron Donald, maybe Deshaun Watson), it’s not currently believed that the Raiders have serious interest in trading Carr.

I'm not one who cares what people post or where they post it,,,usuallllllllly.

But I'm just saying. I mean unless you're posting this in hopes of going after Carr, (Which would be nominated for dumbest post of the year) , then why is this being posted on the main page? Serious, What does this have to do with The Cowboys?

For those of you who say well Carr had Amari as long as Dak had him! Its no comparison because Amari when playing with Carr had an extremely high drop rate!
Like I said, Carr had no #1 WR!
Scott Barrett of PFF: “Cooper led the league in drops (18) and drop rate (20.0 percent) in his rookie season (2015), but then seemed to get past the issue in 2016, dropping only four passes. In 2017, Cooper again led the league in drop rate (17.2 percent). Not only are these numbers bad, but they’re historically bad. Since 2007, there have only been three players to see at least 100 targets and post a drop rate of 17 percent or worse: Braylon Edwards (2007 and 2008), Greg Little (2011) and Cooper (2015 and 2017).”

Why waste a draft pick on a QB that has regressed the last 2 years. We need to see Dak next year with a full season of Cooper and him, and presumably with fredbeard back and the and the O-line should be better.
