Except three of the past five seasons saw Dallas in the playoffs and with victories...sing a different tune now.

All good and fine, but in 23 seasons we’re 0-6 in wins that would put us in the NFC Champ game — never mind actually winning it — before we can even think about the Super Bowl. And please remember, Jerry talks about competing for a SB during every offseason.

I agree with you that we’ve made progress, as far as 3-outta-last-5 seasons, by making it INTO the NFC semis, but nothing Jerry has ever said since our last title has proved that we can or will get the 3 more wins it’ll take (semis win, finals win, SB win — each against progressively better competition) to stick another trophy in the glass case.

We may be making steps, but until the team’s actions — not just Jerry — speak, then they’re baby steps and nothing more.

Most people are "watching". They are watching the actions. He can sure talk a great game but let's "watch" how they handle this offseason and how they improve a team that has a bit of promise but clearly needs help via FA.
Would you be happy with Thomas and a solid defensive tackle? I sure would...and that doesn't have a thing to do with the past...if he is serious. I take him seriously...but not stupid as well.

I view this team as a progression from the lockout. A solid offensive line this season, alone, would be a lot as to progress. Maybe a little less injury there, and say Thomas, would change quite a bit now.

Jerry’s ‘Hunger’ For Title Is Greater Than Ever

https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/jerry-s-hunger-for-title-is-greater-than-ever

...The Cowboys believe they’re positioned to compete for a championship. With one of the NFL’s youngest rosters, they rebounded from a 3-5 start to win the NFC East last season. With the exception of Pro Bowl pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence and wide receiver Cole Beasley, most of their top players are under contract at least through next season...

And, through a broader prism, Jones admits it’s “stunning” to think the organization has not been in a Super Bowl since the 1995 season “with what we commit and what we do to win Super Bowls.” Perhaps his greatest disappointment in the last 30 years is not winning a title during Tony Romo’s prime.

Now, led by two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott, a young Cowboys nucleus has gotten valuable early playoff experience. Jones says it’s time to capitalize on that.

“We got a lot of reps out of these guys last year in key situations,” he said. “Then you look at our quarterback, you look at (running back) Zeke (Elliott), these guys are seasoned. We need to grab this while it's here. It won't be here forever.”...
CC, I so appreciate your optimism. I really do. But for me, after 23 years of Jerry’s poor work as leader of the football side of things, I don’t choose to take anything Jerry says about how brilliant the future looks with anything other than a giant grain of salt.

My mantra for years is simple- “I will believe it when it happens.”

I want it to happen. Nothing will make me happier as a fan than to see this team hoist another Lombardi. But if I’m being honest, I have 0% faith in Jerry and his way of doing things. I hope it works. But as the old saying goes, “hope is not a strategy”.

If Jerry was truly serious he'd step aside and hire a real GM. And let him hire a real HC who isn't an adopted son.

The D-line, minus now both Irving (granted was always a long shot) and Gregory, not to mention the possibility Lawrence decides to play hardball and delays his surgery, could be a serious issue.

“I do my best work without a net. I really do,” Jones said. “I'm better with a little risk involved. In essence, there's a little bit of no net here."

I find this quote humorous. How is he without a net? He isn't getting fired anytime soon. He isn't accountable to anybody. He has a titanium, carbon fire net under him. No one is safer than he is.

Lordy I can't argue as to potentially limiting with that picture in the present. Myself, I feel that Lawrence will both be a Cowboy and play fully this season. Depth is now missing in the defensive line...agreed. But there is free agency and a draft that is far from limiting this season. This can and should improve from this very point in time.

He's talking in the real world and fully aware of ramifications and gambles.

Still not hungry enough to hire the best GM he can find and go sit in the owner's box.

Really...why should he. He isn't immune to success or spending the energy to overcome his own biases.

Owners/GM's in the NFL, have been pretty successful. Not many can fill the starting levels for an attempt...no don't jump into insult personified as a proof. Go to examples of these and look at the statistics involve with former ones with a Super Bowl trophy or more.

Understood, and there are limitations in trying to compare directly to teams who dominated at the top levels for this past season.

Here, know your own people, and don't sell them short. There is playoff experience on this youthful team and a few key additions could flip the whole switch to go.

But there are no ramifications for him.

He will be the owner and GM of this team until the day he dies, regardless of his decisions.

Don't short sell pride and personal integrity. We all walk our own paths, and on different levels. Only a fool doesn't learn and expand his own view. No, I don't see Jerry as a failure in that arena.

Thomas and a good DT?

I could live with that.

Well, he's been starving for 20+ years then. Sure tell that crap to somebody else. This team doesn't even know they've need a DT n S for a decade, gtfoh.

Oh, and your routine of doing a negative posting immediately after a positive posting of mine dealing with Jerry Jones is way past boring.
yes he nerves me as well trying to force all the negativity on us SMH there seems to be 5-6 of them that just wont let up..we are fans its sport, its not life or death..I get involved in the games themselves and will get very upset and in season its nasty passion but right now all the BS and negativity before a snap is taken in the regular season gets old..stop harping on the last 25-30 years and start looking at each new team as anew era a new time frames and right now we are 3 years in and im giving them chance to succeed..when they dont we move on..

Can he play free safety?

It depends. Little guy was all over some shady fella named Count Dooku.

Can he cover? Check.

He was bouncing from wall-to-wall and closed on Dooku from multiple directions.

Does he take good angles? Check.

He will need a dedicated oxygen tank (he gets winded pretty easily). Only obstacle I see is the league suspending him for use of an illegal substance. Something called The Force. No one can see it and there is no blood test that can detect it but everyone knows Goodell does not care about particulars like those...
