I gave you the truth. The facts. The numbers.

Over the past two seasons, Lawrence has more sacks than Von Miller and Khalil Mack. And he's a complete defensive end that is also our best defender against the run.

I'm sorry if that truth bothers you, but nevertheless, it is true.

I know you'd like to now minimize the guy, but facts are facts, even the inconvenient ones.

That may be YOUR truth, and that's absolutely fine. However, there some that could just as easily argue that 3-4 OLB may be worth more because they have more responsibilities than just pass rushing/stopping the run. Both Mack and Miller also have to drop into coverage on occasion. AGAIN, I ABSOLUTELY WANT DLAW BACK!!!!!!!! But, I just don't think he's this generational player like the other 2 and he should no doubt be paid a deal that averages around $20M a year with most of that guaranteed. But, if he's really looking for the $23M that has been rumored, I wouldn't do it.

Feel free to look up the numbers and attempt to refute any of the facts presented. They're not mine, I don;t own them. They're out there for EVERYONE to see, even someone like you who would rather not. Over the past twp seasons, Lawrence has more sacks than both Miller and Mack.

I wouldn't go as far as $23 million either. But unfortunately, the Cowboys waited and the market has been reset, and here we are. Pay him or trade him and find someone else - fast.

So how would you propose to fix this current predicament then? If you have no problem with how they got here?
No brilliant insight on my part (and, probably what the Cowboys would do), continue to negotiate a long-term contract for Lawrence . Failing that, I would look to trade him. Just my view, but I am not inclined to let him play out a second FT.

Thanks for asking.

We agree here, I'd quickly look to trade him while I still had a chance to sign a potential replacement before they're all dried up as well.

And assuming any and all risks due to injury. While other defensive linemen are getting $85 - $90 million guaranteed, he's getting $20 million. I can see why he might be upset.
Hey, being upset is part of life. He will just have to make due on $17m last year and $20m this year. Two years $37m boo freaking hoo...

Ok, maybe I didn't explain myself right. I know he has more sacks than the other 2 [25 to 24.5 (Miller) and 23 (Mack)] the last 2 seasons. That isn't my argument at all. I just see the other 2 as HOF level guys RIGHT NOW while I see DLaw as a guy that could get into that argument with a few more good years. That's what I'm basing MY assessment off of.

That is magic time and that window will close quickly. If they're that far apart, they need to field trade offers now and get something done but his contract demands may be prohibitive to a trade. There's what they want in trade and what he wants in a contract, much like the trade between OAK-PIT, his price for the contract drove the trade down to a 3rd and 5th.

In the "it could only be Booger" department, they got as 3rd and 5th for the best WR in the game and DET got two 1sts for Roy UT Williams not even the best WR at DET.

"Yeah! Take whatever we give you and be grateful!"

"Now let's overpay that quarterback ASAP!"

Tank deserves the average of the top 5-7 pass rushers in the NFL. NOT the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.

Dak deserves what other, RECENT, top 15 type QB's are getting paid. Probably a little more based on potential and success.

Pretty simple stuff.

THAT QB range is around 25-30k per year.

They are all overpaid as far as I am concerned.

Surely you can see the importance of the QB over the DE as well. At least show an understanding of football in general.

And the ASAP part is to save money. Now that angle is probably a little too complicated to a Dak hating troll. But Ill be more then happy to explain it to you if you want.

Seems to me that they should change the tag to non exclusive franchise tag, and see what he gets offered.

OK. I'm just trying to explain how the player and agent are seeing his side of negotiations. This is his one big shot and he's trying to make the most of it. If Dallas won't pay him, trade him immediately and get someone or someones that can replace him.

The one guy that has earned his payday more than anyone and the team is unable to get a deal done:

Isn’t he averaging .4 violations of the substance/PED violations per season? That stat matters a lot.

Key emphasis on the word now. Give a final offer. Don't let this play out in the media. Make a decision right now.

NOW. Not next week. Not two weeks from now. And certainly not on top of the July deadline.

Other teams want to get out of this week with their battle plans for the draft.

Lawrence's value will deteriorate with time, not increase.
Sorry but the wifi calling is kind of spotty on the yacht. Lawrence will just have to stew for a week or two.

Did they put an exclusive tag on him? I'm not sure how that process would work with a guy not currently under contract? Maybe they give him and his agent the right to negotiate a deal with other teams? But everything would have to happen quickly.

He's had one great season in 2017. That was the only season he started every game. I love the guy, but you can't throw "best DE in the NFL" dollars his way and not hurt the team salary cap-wise.

I would really like to know what our offer was to him. With the FO knowing what the market is I wonder if it was a insultingly low offer. We know the market says 17-20 but we will give you 12. Lol

Just my guess, he gladly played 2018 on the tag with an apparent promised from Stephen do xyz and we'll take care of you. This is why he issued the "your move" statement. We know his 2018 salary was $17M and 2019 will be $20M. We also know Stephen at one time said they weren't that far apart. My guess, Stephen is offering something in the range of $17-19M but DLaw is thinking $20-21M. But they could be close on yearly payout but struggling with guaranteed money or signing bonus.

Are top 15 QBs really getting that??? By the way, you have 25-30k but I assumed your talking million.
