DLaw is an amazing player. He seems like a great guy too. I hope we sign him and he can rest easy as far as money is concerned all his life.

But he has had 2 back surgeries, had the foot injury and needs shoulder surgery. Plus, he’s had the suspension.

Those things should effect his value a bit.

How many teams will pay more that:
1)Won’t negate the raise with taxes
2)Have more winning potential
3)Have better weather
4)Have a better nightlife

Make a list of teams from that, then decide whether or not it’s worth uprooting to go someplace strange, lining up with strangers. Of course, many young dumb athletes with big egos will ignore details in favor of big money.

Oh it's going to end well for Lawrence. He's going to get paid somewhere. He eventually would sign the FA deal if that's whats left on the table and get surgery then. Pockets around $38 million in 2 years.

He'd be 28 could sign a 3-4 year deal and who knows what the market will be then if he can still produce at least what he did last season.

The Cowboys are waiting to see what Trey Flowers gets on the open market, I think and will get a better grasp contractually from there. Lawrence is the better pass rusher.

This negotiation is made difficult due to the Khalil Mack contract and Aaron Donald contract. Donald is now in the DE group because they play a 3-4

The average of the top 5 DEs is 17M. The average for 3-4 OLBs is lower. The 23.5M average for Mack is an outlier but the DLaw and his agent will want that number.

If the average for the top 5 is 17M then the 5th of the top 5 is definitely below 17M.

Is DLaw a top 5 DE?

I've seen rankings with DLaw between 6 and 10 for 4-3 DEs and outside the top 10 when 3-4 DEs are included. Also in the 6 to 12 range for outside pass rushers which was basically 4-3 DEs and 3-4 OLBs.

If he is the 6th best DE that puts his value definitely below 17M based on previous contracts. Using the increase of the NFL cap as a reference for inflation, the cap increased by 9.4% from 2018 to 2019.

A 16M value would increase to 17.5M with a 9.4% rate of inflation.
