I do have to ask

So far, what FA deals do you think Dallas should have outbid the winner for?

I liked the price that the Eagles paid for Jackson DT.
Anything else?

Every year there's whimpering and whining. Never fails.
...and I get it. But almost all of these deals are bad ones or the acquiring teams
It is not that we fail...... we don't even try

EWeddle wanted to come here
MJackson was a good fit
AHumphrey should have gotten a look
We need to get a FS

I am OK with the Cowboys not being short-bus riders when it comes to FA but one guy at a need position for big $$ is absolutely fine.... Please baby-Jesus bring us a ball-hawking secondary guy that performs above and beyond. LOL

They started with SLee, Witten and TSmith and continued with TCrawford, Beasley, TFred, ZMartin and Heath..... they also signed TWill, Bailey, CJones and LCollins

DLaw is a big test but he is asking for the moon......38m over two years is not enough
Dak will get signed
ACooper too

JSmith is an easy deal imo
BJones and Zeke might take the Franchise Tag

we have taken care of our own..............we need to expand the talent pool to include some FAs
Stephen seems to be allergic to FA spending and it is becoming a detrimental problem preventing us from fielding a complete championship caliber team. Frankly I'm tired of it.

Stephen Jones is almost singlehandley giving Dallas the reputation of being a cheap skate

Whether its FA from outside or from the inside I believe its hurting us bigtime

If I was a good player I wouldnt even bother meeting with Dallas knowing they are just gonna low ball me

I don't like the Cowboys absence during FA, but every good player seems to think they should be paid the highest at their position. Otherwise they're insulted. There's a salary cap, no room for respect money. You get paid for what you can do going forward, not what you did in the past or what you think you can do compared to someone else.

Is Stephen cheap??? Or is he parsimonious? Prudent? Pennywise? I say he's going about his business the right way.

There are two ways to look at it.

1. You overpay in the first few days of free agency. So it might be financially prudent to sit out these big time deals.

2. Other teams get better while the Cowboys don't.

Reality is probably somewhere in the middle. Depending on your roster and cap situation, it might be ok to slightly overpay for certain guys you believe are difference makers and at positions where you're thin.

Nah, dude. We just gotta keep showing these FAs who’s boss until they decide to sign with us for bargain prices. /sarcasm

But, seriously, you make a really good point.

No not really...

Eagles, Rams, and Always the Patriots went to the Superbowl because of their Free Agency moves

These idiots think they are the Patriots. It’s laughable. Dallas needs a star at every position to overcome the HC.

I think most agents already know what we do.

This is a fallacy that is unfounded. We do what we do.

If they think making free agents know we are open for business is a priority, we are doing it wrong.

His penny pinching frugality has become a hindrance if that is how players and agents around the league see him.

If your question is who would I sign....it would have 100% been Earl Thomas....that one move alone gives us a legit Superbowl Defense

Yep, ET takes this defense to the next level...…………….but, we apparently are not interested in that, just happy to make the playoffs occasionally.

Has anyone signed him yet?

And does price matter at all?

Another name to remember from free agency. Anthony Hitchens. Anyone miss him this year? And for the money he got? Dez got canned and no one thought enough to sign him until the Saints were almost out of receivers. We do need to try and get a deal with Lawrence and we should be shopping him to see a value. If we can get a first for him and maybe something else....I would do it and sign one of the other free agent DE's that are out there and then consider using the #1 we get on a replacement pass rusher. We can't count on Gregory.

Dallas has paid big money to keep their own guys that they wanted . At the time Tyron got a deal that paid him as one of the top 2-3 OT's. Frederick gor a deal that paid him as a top 2-3 center. Martin was paid as the best OG ever if I remember right, certainly in the top couple. Lael was redone early and was compensated more than fairly for what he had done to that point. Dez was paid as a top WR when his last deal was done. Romo's deals were always among the top QB deals. On defense we paid Crawford as everyone laments. Lee was give a high dollar contract when his last deal was done. No dollars have been released in regard to Lawrence as far as I know....so to say we are shortchanging him is at the very least premature...and there are legitimate concerns about his health. Two back surgeries. Two shoulder injuries. The fact we traded a first for Cooper knowing we are going to have to pay him among the top wideouts hardly says we are being cheap. The deals given to Beasley and WIlliams were certainly at least at their market value at the time if not higher.

That being said....I do think we need to target one big name guy to bring in. We have a big need at DT. We have a big need at S. We have a big need at DE pending the Lawrence move.

There are some moves I have trouble with. Resigning Witten was an awful move. We have young guys that looked to be coming around at the end of the year and Witten in his last couple years was nothing more than a safety valve. I think we should bring back the young guys and add a younger vet or a mid round draft pick. Would save a little money. I think the restructuring of Lee should also be done with Crawford.
