I agree with our inactivity in FA so far

Philly is the only one

And really, Philly didn't either. I think their only big $ signing was Alshon Jeffery on a 1 year deal for $14m - they subsequently extended him late in the year. Their other significant signing was Chris Long, but it was 2 years at something like $3m per year and $400k bonus, but only the 1st year guaranteed. I wouldn't categorize that as a big $ FA contract. The Eagle use FA to sprinkle a little seasoning onto a quality roster built intrinsically.

The Rams are probably the better example and it got them to the SB, albeit only because of a horrible non-call.

So far. A couple of nice mid tier FA's would be nice, now that the feeding frenzy has ended.

Overpaying right at the start of FA seldom works out.
I disagree. We need brought back Witten instead of signing Jesse James, we continue to overlook the DT position, and we won't strike on the quality free agents still available. Woods, Crawford, Collins are still going to rotate at DT and super bowl contenders are still going to whoop them up in the playoffs.

Most of the aggressive teams are the losing teams who are always doing this to no avail.

I’d like some help but not over paying in the first day.

While I want to improve, I disagree w/ that strategy.

Jesse James? Is it his low catch numbers, low TD numbers, or low start numbers that intrigues you?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesse James is a #2 TE. PITT likes him so much that they traded for McDonald in 18.

Your assumption is that 2 days in will be the extent of Cowboy inactivity, this could go on for several weeks, that what I do mean...
It is? Would you mind pointing out where I assumed anything?

"now that the feeding frenzy has ended" it has not ended and mid-tier has not really started on day 2.

Maybe he needs a change of scenery. I always thought he had potential and I will be honest I see the kind of dts we need like Malik Jackson getting 7-10 million and we like our guys.

Yes and no. There's always a flurry of activity on the first day or two that is referred to as a feeding frenzy. It appears that it has already slowed down, no?

Still, I'm not assuming anything. I'm merely pointing out that the initial charge is winding down, so the mid tier signings will start kicking in soon. At that point I'll be beyond POed if we don't make some moves.

To tell the truth, I'm really not sure what you're trying to say.

I'd be fine w/ it, as long as we don't have to overpay. What sort of contract is he projected to get?

I suppose, but it seems like every year people say "X was overpaid". Seems to me "overpaying" is just part of free agency.

They need to straighten out the DLaw mess first. Then need to improve S, DT and look into extending Dak and or Zeke. It is not complicated but the Jones family can make the simple look really, really hard. The cap space is overstated but they do have some money that can be used to really improve the team right now.

No it has not, players are being signed as we speak and will continue all week, yes at a more controlled pace.

Mid-tier usually in week 2 or later with some exceptions, Dallas may wait a few weeks before looking at any free agents unless they pony up for ET.

I am saying that the top free agents will sign for stupid money this week, yes the flurry of prearranged contracts will explode for aggressive teams and teams with resources on day one but top tier free agents will sign all week long.

I am saying that if Dallas does indeed primarily focus on their own players and do not sign ET (a player they covet) then even after two weeks you may be displeased with their continued inactivity.

There may not be any mid-tier signings, they may just raid the bargain bin in week three and on...and build via the draft even without a first rounder.

Free Agency is for filling one or two major weaknesses that you don't think you can find in the draft. The Cowboys have immediate needs on the DL losing Irving and Gregory and they need a safety. If they use free agency to fill those two needs and then draft offense (OL, TE, RB, WR), I would be very happy.

Sounds right.
I would think that the money being paid to FA's will slowly dwindle, not simply stop at the end of the week. I would think that some mid tier's would start signing in the next day or so.

They've franchised him and offered him a contract. Ball is in his court. Not sure what else they can do at present.
