The roster still had flaws last year and they have the cap space and flexibility to address a couple of needs in FA and simply choose not to.

You can convince yourself they are great roster builders but the results on the field tell a different story.

The biggest issue last year was 1T, which they actually filled well for a stick of gum.

If they actually just went out and got a safety instead of fixating on ET, good safeties were to be had for a couple of sticks of gum

Playing for value, we would have had another safety cheap. We would have been better.

But woohoo, we went wild and got Cooper! Yay?

I don't think it will be yay when Cooper takes us for a huge contract and we have no pick in the 1st.

You should be happy. They're thinking more like you than me. And it's been screwing us.

The Cowboys have been one of the best drafting teams over the past several years. There have been multiple articles that analyzed the performance of teams in the draft.

Isn't it great that we traded our 1st away this year? yay!

Stop trying to save 3 million and either sign Lawrence or trade him. Not being able to get other FAs because you can’t sign the guy you’ve negotiated with since last year shows you don’t know what you’re doing.

The team is starting to enable the Steelers chaos. You drafted guys that performed. Sign them and if it takes an extra 2-3 mil for pro bowl quality so be it.

No one is mad Beasley walked. But you have no DL to speak of right now and no conceivable plan to improve. This is about to be 2017 again. Having a let down because the FO wants to look like the smartest team in the league. Yes the Patriots can let every player walk because of Belichick and Brady. Dak is not anything close to Brady. You have pro bowl players. Lock them up and stop alienating the locker room!

We’ve seen the last 2-3 years when the team struggles TV ratings and crowds have started to fall. A new coach can only fix so much. People may hate Garrett but this is the FOs fault if the only improvements they make are 2nd and 3rd round players.

You apparently don't understand or you have underestimated the genius of Jerry Jones. Do you know what has made Jerry as successful as he is? Do you understand why he has built the Cowboys to be the most valuable sports franchise in the history of the world? All while at the same time being the general manager of a losing team for almost 1/4th of a century. There are not many teams in the NFL that have been worse than the Cowboys have been in the past 24 years, possibly three or four others have not played in a title game. Yet, his stadium remains full at every game, his team single handily saves NFL ratings from embarrassing numbers in a weekly basis, and Cowboys merchandise sold more than 18 other teams combined last season.

How? Why? My Lord its crazy...But when it comes down to it, we just don't really care. We are doubters every January through August. With a break for one weekend in April or May. But come September, we are believers again. It's got to be one of the greatest mysteries in sports. Can you imagine if a city like NY, Philadelphia, Greenbay, or Pittsburgh had a coach that never went past round one of the playoffs for ten years straight? How would the fans react? But how do they react here? They show up more, pay more, buy more, and other than in a few message boards or twitter , you never here a word.

We do know this. Jerry's way of over paying for guys like Williams, or Carr, or Romo, or TO, or any of the others millions he wasted didn't help in bringing a championship to Dallas. We also know that the new way of thinking from guys like Steven or Willy by being bargain basement shoppers in Free Agency, and letting good players go because they didn't want to cough up the money to even pay their own good players hasn't worked either. It's failed in the same exact fashion, ZERO championship game appearances. Not even the kind where you only have to be better than 14 other teams to get there. PATHETIC.

Hey but the good news is this , it's only March. The negative realism only gets to stick around 5-6 more months before we all swag up, get our tailgate grills going, pick up those bottles of JW Blue, and and proclaim to the NFL world that this is our year!!!

lol Dallas still had the top rating when they were 5-11. This team is what makes the NFLs revenue what it is.

No it won’t. The Cowboys have a huge fan base. That fan base is probably made up of 50% fans like you and me. We monitor all things Cowboys 24/7 365 days a year. The other 50% could care less about anything Cowboys related once the season is over, they buy a jersey, go to the game or watch it on TV, and then go on with their lives until the next season.

You and I are going to watch no matter what because we invest so much of our lives to this team. The other half are going to watch because they don’t care about what happened in the off-season, they just want to watch the Cowboys for three hours a week.

The Cowboys won the NFCE while having a better salary cap situation than the other NFCE teams.
The goal isn't winning the East it's winning the super bowl and they haven't made it to the NFCCG.
The last 2 NFC super bowl representatives has both used free agency to get there. You have to used both.

so now they vow to never sign one worth anything
They didn't vow anything. We're being dramatic.

The team tried to blow their wad on Sammy Watkins literally just last offseason.

Jones's have figured that since they don't know how to evaluate players from other teams then they'll just pass on them
Except when they trade a 1st rounder for one and lock themselves into giving them a huge extension.

The ratings will be fine, barring a 2015-like rash of season-killing injuries to key guys that render the team not worth watching. And even then, people will still watch just to soak in their own filth and misery.

I wouldn't usea Watkins as proof that they know how to evaluate players.

Ratings will be the same, too many 'I'll buy whatever Jerry sells' Cowboy fans out there to make any difference
True. There are still people who believe Dak is an "Elite" QB. These fools will buy anything.

The FO is sapping my desire to watch the cowboys. We had yet another team that couldn't make it out of the 2nd round and we had an opportunity to shore up some positions, but we did NOTHING. Stephen Jones is literally convinced that he can build ONLY through the draft. We were headed towards top 10 pick territory until Jerry made the Cooper trade. It's sad to watch Jerry and Stephen throw all of this talent down the drains with complete FA inactivity and continuing to roll with Garrett. Maybe it's best for guys like Lawrence to not have signed a contract if they actually want to be on a WINNING organization.

Agree with all of it, except this way hasn't worked either. Thus far, it hasn't. But we did it the other way for about 17 years. We've done this way for about 6 years. It took 17 years to get 2 playoff wins the old way. We got that in 6 years this way. It's not good enough for me, you or any other fan but it's better than the old way. This is the most young talent we had since the 90s teams.

So by “pulling his head out” you want him to compromise the salary cap for years to come? Ok, got it.

Jerry/Stephen and Garrett are made for each other. Not an aggressive bone in their body. They lucked into Dak. And then wasted the window of his rookie contract. Had a chance to make a move this year. Wasted it. None of them will sniff a Super Bowl in their lifetimes.
I disagree. I say the Cowboys fanbase is spineless to think the Pats are greater than the Cowboys despite the Cowboys having the greater all-time win percentage.
