Fleming was basically average last year, but after the Chaz Green disaster, he looked like a Pro Bowler in comparison. He's a decent fill in, and looking at the list of available tackles, there really isn't anyone better. I mean, LaAdrian Waddle? Cedric Ogbuehi? Jermey Parnell? Ben Ijalana? Ryan Schraeder?

Fleming was almost average, so not a terrible resign, unless the numbers are as ridiculous as the numbers on Olawale were. Makes no sense to pay a FB the kind of money they just guaranteed.

Well, Waddle was the guy the Pats kept last year instead of Fleming, so there is that. Parnell is most likely better, but would be significantly more expensive.

With Frederick back, we will have our starting OL and Looney, Fleming, Ehringer and Redmond back as depth. That ain't too bad.

Waddle is also coached by arguably the best offensive line coach in the league in Dante Scarnecchia. We still don't know whether Marc Colombo can coach guys up or not.

$8.5 on a 2 yr deal for an average at best OT?

And we would not pony up $3 extra million for ET.

We don’t have any holes on the OL IMO. Not a draft need at all.

Smith
Williams
Frederick
Martin
Collins

Were going to be the same 53 as last year ... minus Beasley and Wilson!

I’m sure Lenoir will take Beasley’s spot and Covington will take Wilson’s!

Good signing nonetheless, just irritated

It’s what we get to look forward I guess. Other teams pick up other guys, we just lock up our backups
Its the Jones family way of saying were wanting another 8-8 season but want to talk about "winning"

Well, I feel a little better now. A move I actually like. A 26 year old tackle with starting experience staying on relatively cheap.

The Cowboys had no real swing tackle if Fleming left. Nice. Not superb. Just nice.

Flemming is OK for a game here and there but if Tyron missed a significant number of games the team is likely doomed.

Also they don't have a young developing OT in the wings and La'el is a free agent after the season.

I’m not going to ***** about this signing or anything...at the end of the day it’s really neither a positive or a negative. Fleming is pretty much just a body that happens to be just barely good enough to play an important position in football.

But people saying they are surprised he’s back need to look at the bigger picture. He was an UFA 26 year OT (from the Pats no less) and not a single team wanted him last year on the open market. Think of what that must mean about his play when scouts/evaluators look at him. He’s a career backup, if he needs to play more than 3-4 games we are in trouble

How many rescources would you like to sink in the OL? He was really good in his 3 starts last year and we went 3-0 with him starting. You don’t give a guy 8 million dollars to backup if you think he can’t play.

Don't forget Sua'Filo. He's got another year on this deal. That's five guys competing for backup spots when we are liable to keep no more than four. (And one or two of them might compete for the starting left guard spot.)

My only hope is that this deal is massively backloaded.

But then again, Fleming could do nothing, snap his ankle, and this team would still bring him back for $6.5 million...
