of course the incumbent starter gets more chances early but in TC, Practice, and preseason the cream will rise and Heath or anyone else will be demoted if there is truly and clearly a better choice sitting in wait..

The only defense I have supporting Heath in that stat is that Heath plays more man coverage since the Colts defense are in zone coverage 3/4 of the time. I don't know how to play in the NFL but I would think it would be tough for you to lock up on an assignment only for you to shift your eyes and body to tackle someone else. In zone, you see everything and move where the ball goes while occupying a spot.

I'm just reaching right now because Gaethers would be a better safety if the Cowboys get him.

I think Gaethers is an upgrade for Heath. Also Heath would be way better as a Nickel guy who is a core special teamer than he would be in his current role.
