S Morgan Burnett to be released

I wasn't being rude.

I was just giving my opinion. From what I've gathered we are looking for an SS.

Burnett has played a lot of strong safety. He's more tackler than ballhawk. That said, his best days appear to be behind him.

Burnett is 30 years old and has had a history of injuries, which has everything to do with the Steelers agreeing to release him. The team switched him to playing LB which, is a position he dislikes and wants to return to playing safety. The team felt his speed was hampered by his injuries and switched him to LB for that reason. They have others they felt were better suited to play safety. I think I'd look elsewhere to fill that role.

Burnett plays SS and was due to make $2.83 million this season, no guaranteed $ to be paid. I would look at Burnett.

Heath is supposed to make $2.5 million, is 3 years younger and has $450,000 dead cap for the year and $450,000 signing bonus to be paid so no matter what he would cost $900,000 to cut I believe. We would save $2,000,000 base salary though.

I think the team would keep Heath regardless due to his special teams play and he would be solid depth at safety should any starter at SS or FS go down.

I like him at FS, and despite him playing well towards LOS I'm not sure if his body would hold up.

You said we were looking at SS's. I stated he has basically lined up as a SS his whole career. I don't know how that could not have anything to do with what you said.

Not that I am advocating for signing him just pointing out that he has played the position you are saying we are looking for throughout the better part of his career.

The whole "No we are looking for and SS to replace Heath" I took me mean we were looking for a Strong Safety (with and meant to be an). Reading what he said above, and rereading your first post and now I am confused. So my apologies if I too am quoting your incorrectly.

I guess I'd take him. We are so bad at the position, forget about a superstar like Earl...at the very minimum, a decent vet who isn't flashy but understands the game and can be a QB back there for the secondary would make them all better.

Cowboys have had "interest" and paraded Ss thru Frisco just to have Jeff Heath remaion his perch. Burnett is no different. Let's see if even draft a Safety cause FA is over at the position.

I think either Burnett or Iloka would bring an improvement at strong safety.

I watched a lot of Packers games and he always seemed like a good, steady player.

He has had some type of injury issue almost every year but generally played through injuries.

Since his rookie season he has played in 109 of 128 possible regular season games.

He should only be considered for the SS position.

Woods is best at FS, IMO.
