Jerry Brings the AAF Championship Game To Dallas

You sound like an economic idiot. Every person going to this event spends money on transportation getting there, benefitting the economy. Every person going to this event spends money on food getting there, partially benefitting JERRY'S WALLET. Every person going to this event spends money on souvenirs getting there, benefitting JERRY'S WALLET. People go sight seeing and shopping, benefitting the economy. Are you really that ignorant of basic economics? It sounds like nickels and dimes but it's compounded by the numbers going to the event that translates to millions of dollars.

I'm the economic idiot? Think about everything you just wrote - who stands to benefit the most? The Ford center only seats 12,000, not 100,000 like Jerry World. Do you realize that Pennington Field in Bedford, a high school stadium, seats more than Ford?

It seems you're the one who has no idea what influences the economy. Bringing an insignificant sporting event to Frisco isn't going to do it. People like me who live in far south Fort Worth aren't going to make a two hour trek to Frisco for this game. Don't count on a mass of out of town folks making the trip either - its still an unknown league that barely makes enough to cover payroll. Jerry isn't going to make much by hosting this game, but thats all it is about.

You should consider dropping the 'ing' from your user name and swapping two letters..... 'Joke' seems more fitting.

Now you sound like an condescending twit. Never called you stupid, just said you sound like an economic idiot. Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

P.S.: That's bad form on your behalf for changing my quote thus putting words in my mouth. Don't do it again! I will report you for trolling.

Your trolling just tells me you understand you lost the argument and this is all you got left. :muttley:

Nope, no lost argument. I'm not an economic expert, and neither are you. I simply don't care to spend any more time arguing with someone who wants to argue for nothing more than the argument, and appears to have to have the last word in edgewise. The 'thumbs up' was for your genius comment.

Here's another one for you.....

How is this financially beneficial to north Texas? In what way? Will it influence OPEC to stop gouging consumers? Will Walmart lower their prices because Jerry knows how to make a buck? Will Jerry's fat wallet somehow make me wealthier? Oh, its the jobs this game creates. Wait - that will be staffed by employees already on the payroll.

Be sure to let know when some of Jerry's profits start trickling down into the wallets of peons like us. Jerry is worth 7 billion. Imagine if one half of one percent out of his wallet made it to your account. Thats 3.5 million Jerry wouldn't even blink an eye at. Pennies in a piggie bank. Let me know when that cash is headed my way.

Jerry isn't doing a damn thing for North Texas or its economy, he's only increasing his net worth. Defend him all you want, but he isn't doing anything beneficial for me or my family, and certainly isn't doing anything for you.
Interesting.

And you think you are one to sit and judge someone who is not contributing?

You were not here when he rescued the franchise from mediocitty from the previous owner.

And while you watch the games at home for free?

Frankly...your opinion means nada.

You are a free loader.

The argument has switched from economics to freeloading... love it!

And yeah, I was here when he took over. I've lived in the DFW area since 1969....

I'm not interested in getting in the middle of an economic debate, but this is probably a good move for the AAF. It's a new league and still have a bunch of unknowns, how many fans of the teams will travel, interest in the Championship game, etc. Vegas is a desirable destination, original site, but how many will travel there? 12k sounds small, but no one really knows yet how many fans will travel, the original site in Vegas holds 36k which may be ambitious the first year and certainly anything larger would not look very good when televised. At least at 12K they will get a sell out and create a demand for the limited seats.

The AAF gains a World Class facility, even if it is in the smaller venue, but it will get the added benefit of the Jerry and the Cowboys. We know anything Cowboys is good for marketing, even if not quite directly tied to the team. They get the extra attention and marketing through Jerry and even if the Cowboys aren't involved, he does love to show off and loves attention. Jerry gets the benefit showing off the facilities and the added attention. It may have a limited economic impact in year 1, but if it continues to build then, Jerry has the inside track to maybe hosting future games in Jerry World. Being embraced by one of the most high profile NFL owners is a good thing for the AAF and the future viability of the league could also be beneficial to the NFL.

Judging by the size of the crowds of the few games I have caught highlights of, the number of visitors should be very low. No where near enough to cause an economic boom.

On a side note, I wouldn't call the Ford Center a 'world class facility'. Don't get me wrong - Jerry built a state-of-the-art training facility that is probably second to none in the NFL. But the 12,000 seat stadium is mostly used for high school games, and come playoff time the place is over flowing. The kids love playing there too. In my high school days we got to play our playoff games at Texas Stadium. That was an experience to say the least. But the games at ATT are a much bigger deal, and beneficial to the City of Arlington and Jerry, not north Texas as a whole.

I didn't intend to get into this debate over economics, and honestly, I find it quite boring. Moving on......

Well, this is one way to bring the championship back to Dallas. Shrug.

only a 12,000 seat facility? why?...why not host it in a bigger venue? Bizarre.

this is a money play by jerry if the stadium is smaller they can charge much more for the tickets hence jerry makes much more and so does the new league

Unfortunately this is the closest Jerry will ever get to hosting a Championship Game.

And why the hell are they having it at their freaking practice facility? ATT Stadium having another boxing match that day?

The most expensive ticket I see is only $150.00 so I don't think this was a "money play" by Jerry to charge more.

the fewer seat there are means more competition for them and also if they televise this game then its a full house its a money play pure and simple and jerry gets tohave his face all over the tv set in their championship game

If you are paying the frieght..you can have a valid opinion.

If you are just being negative because you pay your cable bill..

that's fine.

But to dislike because somebody is successful..

that is discriminatory.

Get off ones butt and go make some money so we can slam you.

it gets old..

I stopped being like that once I understood how hard it is to make a living.

About at the age of 20.

Hmmm...

Except, the price of the tickets were already set online and they didn't go up when the venue was changed. Good luck with your "money play" theory.
