DLaw alienating Cowboys fans?

Until he gets his first sack, remember Hardy? Many didn't want him either and then he made a play and all is forgiven. He doesn't care whether the fans like him or not, money is more important.

I do not fault the player, they do what they do and could care less about what's around them until after the deal is done. Remember what Flacco said when he was negotiating his deal? He didn't want his deal to make the team get rid of any players, which they promptly had to do.

I made the adjustment a while back about what pro sports is all about and the fans care a hell of a lot more about winning than the players.

The reason The Ticket and Cowboys decided to part ways was because their morning show aired an interview with one of their guys that had been on the team flight back from that Philly beating that ended that season in an embarrassing fashion. They were laughing, talking about investments and vacations, that loss meant nothing to over half the team. All the while the fans are back in Dallas steaming that our most hated rival had blown us out of the game and ended our season. That was the low point of my fanhood of the Cowboys but the awakening to what it really is and I've never really ever felt the same about it. Losses used to hang with me, eat at me and I'd replay the mistakes over in my head and play what should have happened but no more, the money took my passion out of it.

Lawrence is no different than all of them, it's the 2nd contract, the big one and it's a one time shot at the brass ring. This country is all about capitalism and the rich getting richer, the NFL is only a symptom.

Let's recap....

Lawrence was a free agent going into the 2018 season.

Cowboys/Jerry didn't want to give him a long term deal then when it was reasonable...slapped the franchise tag on him in a prove it season.

Lawerence plays....and plays well.

Now it's 2019...Lawrence still wants a long term deal...and Cowboys and Jerry still don't want to pay.

Cowboys and Jerry only have themselves to blame for playing this cat and mouse game. They played...and lost. Pay up.

Lawrence earned his deal...fair and square.

I can't hate a man asking for what he thinks he deserves.
But I don't like using the surgery as leverage. I still hope they work it out.

I really do not care what DLaw makes. If he is a Cowboy and continues producing against the run and pass at a high level.....I'm cheering

I’ve got no issue with DLaw. These high level contract negotiations are a cutthroat business. And it goes both ways. As fans, it’s best to bury your head in sand until it’s resolved.

yup...Knowing Lawrence...He's dug in this time. He played it Jerry's way last year. Proved he was worth it. Now the ball is in Jerry's low balling court.

We've seen this before w/ Emmitt.

Eventually....Jerry is gonna have to realize he lost...and pay him. Or risk having a Le'veon Bell situation.

Emmitt wasn't a cap situation.

Dumb, dumber, and Garrett have been alienating this fanbase for the last decade. All thats left is for these guys to get what they feel they’re owed, no qualms at all from me. If they dont want to pay him then trade him and keep coming up short like they’ve been doing. They know you suckers are going to keep paying and showing up at their circus of a stadium no matter what.

DLaw's hardline stance may result in him losing favor with Cowboys fans even if he signs a contract.
Unless it is revealed that the Cowboys are offering him shotty deal, he will come across as a selfish player not concerned about having a good team around him.
If he signs a deal in the $20 million per year range, fans will accept that and scrutinize him but he will be scrutinized more if he get's a deal above the other top DE's.
It's hard to garner sympathy when you're complaining about being disrespected at only making $20 mill a year.
At $20 mill, the fan expectations will be high but if he were to get paid as the top DE, we will expect all-world domination. $20 mill is the going rate for top 5 DE's but being the Top Dog will require no excuse Freakish performance.
We all know that he is just below that Mack/Von Miller level.
It will be interesting to see if it's the avg per year or the guaranteed $ that is the hold up. He may be willing to accept the $20 mill range but just wants a huge guarantee.

I don't dislike him or fault him for going for the money, but I am starting to think that it is in the cowboys best interests to trade him and move on instead of paying him north of 22m.

I don't worry about players and what they need. I worry about how it impacts the cowboys. More power to you if you get it elsewhere. I just want the moves to help my team now and in the future. No hard feelings.

I don’t think he cares lol he’ll get paid and whatever team he’s with the fan base will be happy when he produces

Fickle fans are only concerned with the salary envy on their minds whenever a player is negotiating a big deal. If owners didn't give a snot about being selfish way back when, why should players be expected to live by a different standard?

Hell yeah you best believe if he signs the contract hes reported to be demanding he will need to take his game to the next level. Dont let him underperform on that price tag, we will absolutely roast him.

Its not about right or wrong for fans. Its about winning games period. If a player helps the team win and isn't grossly over paid for his production then fans will love him. Otherwise lol...

As far as ownership goes its the same standard of winning. Hence the disdain for JJ and co.

It's the guarantee money.

If he goes out and misses games..

or gets suspended again because he uses performance enhancing drugs to aid his recovery as many do and gets caught..

**** will hit the fan.

Everywhere you read these players are using drugs and know when the tests are coming and work around it until..

Pop

Gottcha.

I do not trust this guy at all.

I want him gone and just get rid of the drama.

The FO should be more concerned about their actions alienating fans. Talk about building through the draft and signing your own home grown talent then play tag two years in a row. Chicken ****.
