DLaw alienating Cowboys fans?

When do you ever recall him coming up with a crucial sack in the 4th quarter of any big game? That's the issue....

Off the top of my head, the sack, strip and recovery against the Lions in the playoffs on their potentially game winning drive.

I don't have a problem with him taking a hard-line stance. These guys destroy their bodies playing this game and have a very limited shelf life. Only a select few veterans reach a level where they can really get paid and set their families up for generations. Lawrence has beaten the odds, and this is his chance to strike it big, and he's trying to do just that.

But if he "tanks" it after signing a massive contract, then it's fair game on him.

Let's recap....

Lawrence was a free agent going into the 2018 season.

Cowboys/Jerry didn't want to give him a long term deal then when it was reasonable...slapped the franchise tag on him in a prove it season.

Lawerence plays....and plays well.

Now it's 2019...Lawrence still wants a long term deal...and Cowboys and Jerry still don't want to pay.

Cowboys and Jerry only have themselves to blame for playing this cat and mouse game. They played...and lost. Pay up.

Lawrence earned his deal...fair and square.
He has NOT earned 22.5m per year. He isn't mack, Miller or jj watt in his prime. He is a top 10 de and should be paid accordingly. Not as an elite all pro player.... Jmo

I have no issue with a player wanting whatever money they want nor do I look down on teams who are unwilling to overpay for a player no matter how good they are.

That said, I would not sign DLaw to a long term contract until he has the surgery. He is more than capable of getting an insurance policy if he's worried the surgery may endanger his career.
To me it's hard to pay a guy 22.5 million for 10.5 sacks and is oft injured and injured now.

Jerry is saving money to extend Garrett.. When it comes to paying guys way worth their value..

Jerry also over-paid for like a 400 million dollar yacht... maybe he needs to sell it if he’s worried about a couple million here and there..
Jerry's personal monetary spending has nothing to do w/ keeping player salaries under the cap.

If DLaw comes up with a crucial sack in the 4th quarter on Tom Brady in next season's Super Bowl to win, all you who are against him now will say it was money well spent. This is management's fault. They should have signed him a year ago. The longer you wait the more the price goes up.

DLaw has been bailing out Dak Pres-scrub all season long.

Demarcus Lawrence has had a TORN LABRUM FOR OVER TWO YEARS and been putting his surgery on hold to carry this bum franchise and consistently bail this team out while Dak flounders for for three and a half quarters to move the ball.

Saying he should have gotten surgery right away after the season and he’s putting the team in jeopardy and he hasn’t sacrificed and Dallas should consider what his state is now and wait to sign him until he gets it or puts in conditional qualifiers of performance to his contract is garbage.

DLaw should get paid whatever he feels like it and it hits the market, he’s getting it,

Over the years I have seen several contentious negotiations and players will say things that will get fans mad. However more times than not once the deal is done most of these guys put it behind them and so does the organization. Emmitt voiced a lot of displeasure during his hold out but once the deal was done all parties put it behind them and got to the business of playing ball. No doubt should Lawrence get a deal worked out for big money the expectation by most fans will be high. If you expect big money then higher expectations come along with it.

We have plenty of money to spend, and yes it does. They are low-balling him, particularly since DLaw proved himself on the tag and has been playing with back issues already.
They are not lowballing him. 20 mill/season.

No, it doesn't. The salary cap has a minimum also. The salary negotiation has nothing to do w/ the org or Jerry trying to save money. It has everything to do w/ not spending all your available cap on a few players.

So in your world deals are purely one sided DLaw can ask for Rodgers money and should get it because well that is what he wants.

No player should get paid whatever he feels like getting paid.

Yep it would make him the highest paid DE in the league. You can't consider making someone the highest paid at his position lowballing a player

Right? Man, are there some strange thoughts on this site.

I agree. Right now DLaw agent going from 20 mill a year to now wanting 23 mill I think is ludicrous. So should Dallas over 23 does he then go to 25? From what I see Dallas has made a fair and legit offer, it makes him the highest paid DE in the NFL. I can see giving some in the details like signing bonus or guaranteed money but would stick to my guns on this current offer by the Cowboys

I guess people just spew their same old little cliches. Doesn't matter if it's true or not.

How about the guy that said the franchise tag was similar to slavery? Lol that one was my favorite

for 20 mill tag I would gladly be your slave. lol Then again I work for a living and put up with bosses and other department heads, have to work Holidays and weekends during times of emergency and do it for a lot less money

I almost think it's a little much.

Why take it personally? I’d be upset if he demanded a trade or something but he’s just negotiating a contract. Is he asking for too much? Yes. Will he end up taking less at some point? Yes.
