From the first snap, until the last snap. Everything else in between is called football. If Prescott has an opportunity to win the game and we have the ball in our hands last. I totally believe we win. 13 4th quarter comebacks more than any other quarterback the last three seasons.

'Many' may be a relatively correct adjective but I disagree with the use as a noun. People love Romo. People loathe Romo. And people have varying degrees of appreciation and non-appreciation for Romo. If individual attitudes toward Romo were generalized, I would say it is closer to 50% who like him and 50% who dislike him. I doubt there is any significant disparity between either stance. Just my opinion.
Tony Romo was a warrior he gave everything to this franchise. It's a shame some people think he was a choke artist. It's just the way the ball bounces.. the only time I was upset with Tony is when he went to Cabo with Jessica Simpson during the playoffs.

Absolutely. It's why there's even a debate. Through the first three quarters, his numbers are only slightly above average. You could make the case that 20 other QB could perform at that level or better in this offense.

1st-3rd quarter, 2016-18

1 Mahomes 111.4
2 Ryan 106.3
3 Brees 105.6
4 Brady 102.6
5 Rivers 100.5

13 Prescott 94.6

But tied or trailing late in a close game, nobody has been better.

4th quarter or OT, tied or trailing by 8 or less
1 Prescott 110.5
2 Roethlisberger 110.2
3 Luck 109.1
4 Watson 108.2
5 Brees 105.5

1st-3rd quarter, 2018 only
1 Brees 114.7
2 Mahomes 113.7
3 Wilson 110.7
4 Rivers 105.1
5 Ryan 103.9

11 Prescott 97.5

4th quarter or OT, tied or trailing by 8 or less, 2018 only
1 Ryan 128.0
2 Prescott 124.8
3 Goff 113.8
4 Wentz 110.9
5 Mariota 108.9

All lists are from a sample of the 32 QB with the most attempts over that time period, including playoffs

For the purpose of comparison, from 2007-11 Eli Manning had a 103.9 rating (1st) while tied or trailing by 8 points or less in the 4th quarter or OT. His rating for the first three quarters those seasons was 86.0 (17th).
Look at these passer rating numbers.^^^^ Do they speak "average" or even "slightly above average"?

Not to me.

How about just based on the 2018 season. That 97.5 passer rating through the first 3 quarters is very good, much better than "slightly above average". Then throw in the 4th quarter and Overtime rating of 124.8, wow, now that is lights out!

Folks, we've got one of the best QBs in the league, especially for such a young QB (3 years or less of experience). Better than Goff. Better than Wince. Better than Mariota, Carr, Winston, Garoppolo, Mayfield and all of the young QBs. The passer rating numbers don't lie. This is why this forum gets so nauseating and causes arguments because of so many wrongfully attacking Dak and calling him "average", "below average", no good, a waste of time, etc.

LOOK AT HIS PASSER RATING NUMBERS^^^^ They don't lie. Those are way above average numbers. Actually, they are very good with a "clutch in the 4th and overtime" gene added to it. We should all be happy and excited to have such a young QB putting up such numbers and having the mental fortitude to be the best clutch QB in the league the 3 years he has been in the NFL. Add in 13 4th quarter comebacks... more than any other quarterback the last three seasons. We're lucky to have Dak.

Is he perfect? Absolutely not. No QB is. But the Cowboys have a very good QB with a killer clutch gene. Something we have not had in a very long time. Dak deserves some praise and appreciation. He's only going to get better.

Romo was the 4th highest passer rating in NFL history. Does anyone actually rank him that high? Of course not...

Dak finished about 16th ranked passing stats for 2018 which were elevated after Cooper arrived.

And that was with the leagues leading rusher, 4th rushing offense and 28th passing offense which equates an overall 22 Nd ranked offense.

Our passing offense is a weakness not a strength.

The microphone turns off in the quarterback's helmet 15 seconds after the play clock starts. Jared Goff had a nightmare of a time reading defenses during the playoffs. You know people forget college is the new NFL training camp. Did salary cap dictates this. Players no longer have time to sit on the bench behind a great quarterback for three or four seasons. This young man was thrown into the fire and he has already succeeded where other quarterbacks are out of the league . Maybe with even better initial Talent I can only imagine how good Prescott will be 3 years from now. He has the talent he has the tools he has the mentality. Once he truly learned an NFL defense. I think you'll be scary

You have to throw out the first five or six games of the season last year if you're going to talk statistics. We lost our starting center tight end and wide receiver.

I think the offense had like a hundred and twenty five more yards than rushing last season. That's like 20 yards of game. We need more balance you can't wait until the 4th quarter to turn Prescott loose. I understand why they did that the youngest starting defense in the league they didn't want to expose them

Exactly! I've been saying it the past 2+ years. Surround Dak with better receivers, a healthy and strong Oline, plus a very good playcalling O-Coordinator, along with a good QB's coach, ...... and watch Dak become a beast.

While Dak has some awesome leadership skills and clutch performances he defines average passing ability at best. And why he receives the criticism he does.

The biggest concern with Dak is he appears to need more of an all star cast cast around him to rise above a bottom tier passing performance.

We’ve already seen what he was without a WR1 and the leagues leading rusher. That’s fine. Everyone needs a supporting cast. But some QB are better suited to carry their offense than others.

Thus far Dak has had an excellent winning record when all of the pieces are in place but average to less than average without. As long as we can afford several All Pro OL , RB and WR Dak should be fine.

But those are great examples what we have in Dak without that All Star supporting cast.

Many people underestimate how strong the roster has been since Prescott started playing.

Without even comparing him to #9, I genuinely think we have had a strong roster over the past three seasons.

Anything else - pipe and slippers whilst a fluffer sorts him out before a snap!?

Dear me. Prescott has had a load of talent around him compared with any other QB in the league when you judge the three years in its entirety.

The offensive line in 2016 was stupidly good and in reality was unlikely to be repeated yet it's been top 10-12 the past two seasons with at least two pro bowlers every season. Elliott is a top 3 RB in the NFL, Prescott only had a handful of games without Bryant or Cooper. A lot of players have to do without a quality TE, Prescott had future HOFamer Witten until last season.

In all seriousness I genuinely don't know how much more money can be pumped into the offense now that Prescott, Elliott and Cooper will be paid shortly.

We didn't get blown out. Yes it was a great example but still the offensive line was not in unicent. But I agree 100% that's when you have to come through. If you had more experience I think he would have

I believe as he matures he can carry this team

lol. Cabo (and Simpson) will live with some people until they die. It is funny to me because there were more gaffes committed by his teammates than Romo that contributed to the loss against the Giants. My personal sticking point remains in the defensive unit's failure--in particularly Jacques Reeves--in limiting New York's final drive to either a field goal or zero points before halftime.

In other words, the final margin of victory for New York can be solidly attributed much more to the collective defensive failure at a critical junction of the game than to the quarterback. Even so, the quarterback's real or imagined shortcomings during the game are overly magnified and inappropriately criticized--which is why Cabo, while misplaced, is used a 'justifiable' component of said criticism. The ironic part is that the defensive unit are rarely (literal use of the word rarely) assigned any blame for the loss.

Unfortunately, Prescott has and may continue receiving similar judgments based on tunnelvision instead of logical analysis.

Edit: Forgot about Simpson :muttley:

It's about getting better and that's what he does. A lot of it has to do with confidence. And that's what he's gaining. The future is bright for this youngest starting team in the league. Third youngest overall. Imagine being this good with this little experience

Camaraderie in the locker room leadership. I take that to the extreme. Yes Cabo was very disappointing to me. I'm sure too many it's insignificant but I'm old school football you just don't do things like that. Tom Landry Jimmy Johnson would have had heart attacks

I agree with the defense same with Prescott where was Byron Jones when we needed him in the Green Bay game.
