Now. Screw the future. I haven’t seen us even make a nfc championship
The Cowboys approach the past few years has been methodical with a balance between the current season and future seasons.
The Cowboys approach between Jimmy departing up until some time this decade was the "One Player Away" mentality. That resulted in Joey Galloway, Roy Williams, 50M to Brandon Carr, trading up for Claiborne, etc..
Regardless of the intentions of the Cowboys organization, after two decades of not "winning now", I think it's fair to classify all Cowboys fans who remain loyal to the team as "win later" fans despite claims of the contrary.
But we were good enough in 2007....2014 ..... 2018The Cowboys approach the past few years has been methodical with a balance between the current season and future seasons.

The Campo years were a disaster because Campo was a joke..... a bad jokeNot too mention the three 5-11 seasons under Campo due the abysmal cap management and the idea of "Let's win one more ring for the old guys."
I think Lawrence's deal could be an issue down the road but do you know what's down that road? Me neither.
It seems every year, I would point to the following year as the year because I saw them on this incline chart that basically ignored the real issue, the other teams on the chart. While I might see the Cowboys building toward something, so were other teams and maybe on a steeper incline.
I do not want them to address Prescott, Elliott or any other player under contract until they've exhausted all of the resources to make the run now. I am a win now fan. And it's not just because I am older than most here but that "team of the future" isn't working.
The other part of the win now mentality is to hell with the draft in 2020, do whatever is necessary in this draft, the one deep in DL, to get quality not quantity. The Cowboys need a pick to play like Vander Esch or Lord Byron, not a Charleton. They need immediate help because as this team is now, I don't see it. And the odds of immediate help at 58 are a lot worse than on day 1.
This draft is not just about needs but what is missing. If it is necessary to borrow from 2020 to impact 2019, I am all in on that. There are players in this draft that can step in and start but I do not see that at 58.
So, I know the "correct answer" is both but between the two which are you? Want to sink the 8 ball on the break or wait to set it up and take a chance on your opponent doing that?

This is the only acceptable answer.Now...every single season.
We've been at it for a while. We have a decent core of players - just need a few more key players on D: 1-tech DT, 3-tech DT, safety, and maybe another OG or OT. Time to fish or cut bait. The window is shrinking.I think Lawrence's deal could be an issue down the road but do you know what's down that road? Me neither.

'MERICA'S TEAM
Sacrificing your future for the present is very seldom a good idea and generally leads to years of mediocrity. So, no, that is by far not the only acceptable answer. This is the only acceptable answer.
Clappy has had a freaking decade, its time to get the team over the hump or clean out his office.I think Lawrence's deal could be an issue down the road but do you know what's down that road? Me neither.

That brings up an interesting question. Maybe a better way to ask the question than in the original post.
Here are your options. A) the team goes to the SB once in 5 years but only make the playoffs 1 other time in those 5 and has I bad season after going to the SB or B) the team gets to the playoffs 3 of those 5 seasons but not to the NFCCG but no losing seasons. On one hand they go but have to eject some talent the next season and it's a bad season and on the other the team is not experiencing any bad seasons. In other words would you settle for a trip to the Big Dance and go through 4 so so seasons?
