Give me the NFL of the 1960's & 1970's when players played to win championships and the love of the game of football. Today is not about team, winning and the love of football.
It is all about me...me, social media and MONEY. Look at player's salaries and pensions back in those days and the punishment they still deal with and then just shake your head
at the self-centered, selfish players of today. That is all players, except those on the NE express. They are about winning SB's period.
You realize the NFL had revenue of $13 billion last year.

Why should the owners keep all of that? They make that money of the backs of the players, so why should the players not get a chunk of that money?

And don’t be naive, the players back in the day had no choice but to play for peanuts, there was no free agency. If there was, they would be doing the same dam thing the players today are doing, getting theirs.

You think Roger Staubach would play for peanuts today because he loves the game so much? Or would Roger hit free agency and want $30 million a year?

Then he should certainly be performing, at the very least, what his contract demands.
That would be a good thing.
Yes it would. I thought we should have traded him. But i hope your right and im wrong. We pushed our chips to the center of the table so i hope we made the right call.

Some do, but it's not all looks.
Charisma also.
Many people can look at a good-looking person and instantly dislike.
And acting is flipping hard. And they have the potential to make billions for individuals.

And Hollywood types include producers, directors, maintenance, secretarial, accounting, writers, catering, transportation... the list goes on.
All of it requires superior talent in some way. And yes, there are a few peeps that get by on looks, but it;s never that simple.
You can see a buff "Tom Cruise" every damn day waiting a Los Angeles table.

Also they supply jobs for many thousands of people- including myself. That means something. I mean, the industry itself makes more than several countries put together. And that's only talking about American.

Edit: Shoot, what I do is flipping hard. There are over 500,000 screenplays floating around in Hollywood alone, right this second, looking for the right pair of eyes and soul enough to write large checks.
Yup. I've worked with a lot of actors, Producers, and stuntmen over the years. Not easy by any stretch.

Everything is stress.
Nothing ever gets done fast enough.
Scheduling is the greatest nemesis: You have an actor for 3 days for the next 2 months. Now you have to schedule around it.
And then there's weather, for outdoor shots.
And then there's availability for all the actors.
And then the lead grip doesn't show.
And then something goes down.
And then this doesn't work, or that doesn't happen...
And then the actor wants to break from the writer's intentions, causing a total rewrite from page 25 on...
And then the producers run out of money, or get bored, or decide to bail for another project.

I can hardly imagine. You've obviously got a lot more experience in that world than I do. Mine is pretty much limited to, "who is this guy trying to tell us what to do, and how did I get roped into this video game crap?" I've directed a few motion capture shoots and on one occasion a big name NFL QB from the late 90's failed to show up. We had to scramble. Luckily, one of our stuntmen was a college QB and did pretty well as a fill in.

Let's not get into a director who's idol is Stanley Kubrick and demands 27 takes of every freaking scene/moment...

I don't hear anyone else on here saying what you say about Apple, Microsoft, Google or Jeff Bezos at Amazon. The game of NFL football belongs only to the owners and the players
are employees. The owners should keep as much of the 13 billion as they want because it was their investment that started and maintains the league.

If the money stream was infinite we wouldn't have the greatest deficit in history. I was graduated from the naval academy. Served in the submarine service in the 60's and 70's. Was an operator for task force 157. Worked for darpa. There are huge wastes of money on military equipment spending by those who control the budget but lack knowledge of weapons systems. We have turned our military into a police force. That is beyond its purview. I'm as jingoistic as anyone. I abhor wasteful spending. If it was up to me, I'd bring our troops home and spend far more money rehabbing our wounded warriors.
Hey,CERN, you was civilian or military while working for/with D.A.R.P.A.? that had to be a pretty cool day gig:thumbup:

I'd pulled some Marine guard at a NWS, and out in the R.A. they had acres of rail cars loaded with ready to roll war munitions sidled off in between huge long earthen berms& only secured with a numbered tin locking tag,(that was about 2 hours of sheer boredom checking all those tags),,,but ,,,about that government waste? You got that right,as over in the R&D section of the base there were acres of what we called the navy junkyard, there were just about anything & everything stacked, parked & palletized just setting out weathering,pre-packed spring assisted parachutes for ordinance/ launch assemblies ( ya,I found out they were spring deployed assist:lmao2:) I recall one stacked pallet had rotted & swarmed half way off the stack & it was of about 1/2 gal milk jug sized round grey painted metal spam canisters, they were experimental gyroscopes for some MK. # torpedo,,,1,000's of em( and they were of intricate/machined construction)

All he has talked about and retweeted is "congrats on getting that bag of $" nothing about working hard, championships, cowboy fans, or even the organization. Lets hope this guy plays at a high level and doesn't quit now that he has made some money.
We will see how hard he works when he gets back
Doubt he’s working hard today since he has surgery this week

You mean those players who were out drinking and partying the night before the game?
The only real change is fans know more about what happens

Paid yes...pampered NO! Personally, I would rather pay our military men and especially special forces much more money than NFL players. They sacrifice everything for our freedom and welfare...not just
playing a game on Sunday.
What a player makes has nothing at all to do with what a soldier makes
Congress decides what the military gets paid and you could always send them a check yourself

You just proved my point. They have to maintain their league to keep the billions flowing. To maintain their league they need star players to sell tickets and TV rights. If they don’t have star players, they fold.....see AAF.

Star players know this, so they have a valuable commodity the owners need, mainly their athletic ability. There are no replacements available, see AAF being told they can’t use NFL players so the league folds.

As I am sure you are aware, if there is a valuable commodity that is in short supply with little or no replacements available, the price is incredibly high. That is why DLaw can command a $100 million.......Isn’t Capitalism great!

Lol. It must be hard for you to be a fan. You shouldn't like any player that ever says anything about money or holds out. Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, etc.. You're a delusional fan. The players absolutely care about money. Why didn't Beasley stay in Dallas? Wasnt he offered a contract where he "won't starve"? You basically admit that all a player needs to do is tweet a bunch of cliches to dupe you into thinking something. It's also pretty stupid of you to think that just because he cares about his money that means he's not a team guy. And yes, I have played the game before. D1. Just because you played intramural sports at your local directional school doesn't mean you know a lick about playing professionally. Or specifically, the NFL.
Sounds like your some kid I hurt or hit some sort of ego , get over yourself and go cry a river. It is easy for me to be fan because I am realistic but hey if it makes you feel better to think otherwise i wouldn't want to make you cry further. No one ever said its not about money, but you have selective reading, guess playing D1 didn't teach you must on the educational side. Look at ET when he got signed, he made it about the team. So now go check your bottles water boy for your "D1" school and make sure they are not tears in them since I hit a nerve.
