You realize the NFL had revenue of $13 billion last year.

Why should the owners keep all of that? They make that money of the backs of the players, so why should the players not get a chunk of that money?

And don’t be naive, the players back in the day had no choice but to play for peanuts, there was no free agency. If there was, they would be doing the same dam thing the players today are doing, getting theirs.

You think Roger Staubach would play for peanuts today because he loves the game so much? Or would Roger hit free agency and want $30 million a year?
If anything, the players should have salary caps on each position. They are lucky enough to have the talent to play a few years and be set for life , so they need to quit whining and be thankful. With a cap on each position, the owners should save enough money to lower the ticket prices so that a family could afford to go to a game without taking out a loan.

Im not taking anything personal. Im saying the deal is done so i don't want to hear about this again for another 4 years. If were having this same conversation 2 years from now we have a problem. In other words you signed the contract so play it out. It's time to walk the walk. Your right he doesn't care what i have to say and i don't care what he has to say so don't come back in 2 years *****ing cause i won't be listening.

Everything about this post is personal, they don't bleep out impersonal post. You're in your feelings about things that you can't control.

You just proved my point. They have to maintain their league to keep the billions flowing. To maintain their league they need star players to sell tickets and TV rights. If they don’t have star players, they fold.....see AAF.

Star players know this, so they have a valuable commodity the owners need, mainly their athletic ability. There are no replacements available, see AAF being told they can’t use NFL players so the league folds.

As I am sure you are aware, if there is a valuable commodity that is in short supply with little or no replacements available, the price is incredibly high. That is why DLaw can command a $100 million.......Isn’t Capitalism great!

I'm not so sure about that. Look at college football and the billions they rake in. Most of those players will never see the NFL. There are lots and lots
of football players who can play but, just aren't good enough to make an NFL team. The owner's can still field NFL teams without the stars. Yes,
there would be a transition but, as long as gambling goes on, the game will go on.

I'm confused. Did he have another career option? He played football and flushed away that sweet gig at the super market? :lmao:

I just don't like the guy. Good player, very good player. Not elite Imo.
He didn't bet on himself. He bet on jerry folding like a cheap deck chair.. He won.

He bet on himself in regards to playing on the tag and believing he would prove himself again, vs taking a lower deal last year. It’s got to feel good man. Just looking at the league landscape and the way players are squeezed and used up, how quickly fans turn on them, and how a single play could end your career. I’d imagine the pressure to take a below market desk is enormous, and tank bet on himself, delivered and it paid off. Good stuff.

Yep. I remember the 80's lockout when the owners dressed scrubs and to the surprise of the players union, the season went on and people watched. Fact is that in the NFL, the uniform trumps the individual players. Its not like the NBA.

He took 17 million to play on the tag and followed it up with a mediocre season. He got this contract based solely on his 2017 season and the fact the Cowboys put themselves in a completely desperate spot.

I think I’m not the only one here with a queasy feeling in their stomach. We just committed a large part of the salary cap to this guy.

His graphic implies that the Cowboys paid him for what he did. In reality, he was paid for what they expect him to do. That disconnect is what is making us all uneasy.

I don't hear anyone else on here saying what you say about Apple, Microsoft, Google or Jeff Bezos at Amazon. The game of NFL football belongs only to the owners and the players
are employees. The owners should keep as much of the 13 billion as they want because it was their investment that started and maintains the league.

Those same owners are the ones who agree to sign the contracts........ so again what’s the complaint?

The cowboys easily could have let Lawrence walk and signed a DE off the street for vet minimum to replace him. Yet they didn’t.

The Packers could cut Aaron Rodgers right now and sign a QB off the street to replace him for vet minimum. That will never happen.

Think about why that is.......

DLaw got pretty much what he wanted. I expect nothing less than excellent in his play. You want to be paid as the best then performance must match.

His 2018 was anything but mediocre. You’re bugging.

As far as the tag is concerned, obviously it’s a considerable amount of money, but with a fair amount of risk attached. Dallas wanted to sign him long term, and he opted to play on the tag and he delivered.

Did they state what his recovery time will be?
I’ve heard all kinds of recovery time
The teams seems to think he will be back in camp
The only study I’ve read that was specifically about football players and playing had a much longer recovery time

I don't care a lick about how much players make or what owner's decide to pay those players. My beef is with this player and his me...me
attitude. A little bit more humility would be nice by these primadonna's.

Lawrence’s 3-year cash earnings all rank 3rd behind Mack & Donald. His $65M guaranteed ranks 4th behind Mack, Donald, & Von Miller, but $65M fully guaranteed over a 3 year span is tops...

I'm not sure why some fans think that players should or shouldn't do anything in regard to their demands. Players should try and get all they can.
What matters is the product on the field. Lawrence now needs to step up and be elite.
