It will be interesting to see how Wentz fairs. I think he has more talent than Foles but his team did not seem to respond to him as well as they did with Foles. In starts that Wentz made his team went 5-6 under Foles they went 4-1 in the regular season.
I think he also suffers from a false bravado......all he hears is how great he is even when he can't stay on the field so he really can't prove it....even we he's on the field he does pretty well he is still far from being clutch. The eagles continue to hype him up because with what they had to give up they really can't afford for him to fail......although they may expect it due to them not even talking about extending him so far.

I am fairly confident we would have strongly considered bringing Foles back on the franchise tag or competed with the Jags offer on a shorter deal if we did not have a backup we were supremely confident about given Carson's situation(s).

We gave Malik Jackson 10m$ a year, Desean Jackson 9m$ a year, gave Kelce a raise, brought Peters back at 10m$ a year and currently have 21m$ in cap space

Bringing back Foles for a year would have worked fine. Sudfeld at leats being a strong part of the reason we didn't entertain the concept is not completely out of bounds.

Foles is gone for one reason. Money. Not because Sudfeld made Foles replaceable. Money.

That's it.

Well all the guys who won for you are long gone too. Time for new guys to win

Is that the best you can do?

An hour ago, you were talking about all of the guys you still had from the Super Bowl year (except of course for the quarterback that got you there and won it). And now it's "time for new guys to win"?

Your contradictions are quite entertaining.

Money we could have paid him if we wanted to

Even in creating cap space, there was no way the Eagles were going to take a $23MM cap hit to carry a backup QB. Howie is smarter than that.

I used to think you were a fairly levelheaded Eagles fan but I am not so sure anymore. Especially when one is arguing that Nate Sudfeld made their SB winning QB expendable. LOL.

I think money but also he goes into Jacksonville as the starting QB, frankly a very sweet situation. That team has a lot of talent on it but Bortels was costing them. I think with Foles Jacksonville becomes a legit contender.

We've had a very strong backup quarterback for about 20 years now in Philly. It's Lurie's doctrine and definitely a staple of Andy Reid/Doug Pederson's philosophies. Foles, Vick, Garcia, Sanchez, Blake, Young, Daniel... no way we would have let Foles walk to just settle with Bortles or Tannehill.
I'm only commenting on how they have Jerry Jones listed as the GM since "1994"......wonder who it was from 1989-1994...........those that say Jerry pulled off the Herschel Walker heist and not Jimmy should love this.

Speaking about QBs specifically with your point on the qb. All the other guys are not qbs. You're taking x and y and claiming they're both x.

Speaking "specifically about the quarterbacks" then, we still have our guy, who won 12 games for us in 2016. You let yours leave.

Made him expandable at 22m, yes. Super Bowl winning *backup qb.

And there are ways they could have carried Foles for 22m. Foles and Wentz would still hit our cap less than Cousins does in Minny

I would be concerned. If it was 2016.

Our guy has gotten progressively better every year since then. Dak overwhelming played his best football in 2016. Regression needs to be corrected.

If you thought he was level-headed, you were misinformed. He simply wants to spread Eagles propaganda here.

And that's why he's trying to dance all over the place in this conversation. He can't handle the inconvenient truth of the situation so he tries again and again to change the conversation.

Heck, I can go back to his claims of the "genius" of Roseman and how he and the Eagles were going to get a 1st round draft pick for Foles. It's still hysterical.

The irony here is I've never personally insulted anyone on this site, and I never will. Yet I'm the filthy Eagles fan with the bad reputation

"Progressively better"? By getting hurt? Or by going 5-6 as your starter last year?

Your attempts to spread Eagles propaganda while taking shots at the Cowboys are far more insulting than anything else someone says.

Don't try to play some "victim".

I don't think he called you one of those unruly fans. He said you simply are an Eagles propaganda machine.

Which doesn't appear to be false when you say things like Nate Sudfeld made Foles expendable.

Eagles propaganda? Your posters defame your team better than I ever could. And you know that's the truth. I'm probably one of the lighter spirited posters when it comes to Cowboys football.
