Why push the issue and pay 15m when you can pay 9m on an extension this year?

Someone will make an offer for JSmith..... I would if he was on another team

He is better than any rookie LB coming out and he is still 23 years old

Not trying to put words in other members mouth but I think the feeling is the faster we can in and out of Zeke 2nd contract the better for an obvious reason......RB affective cycle. Rather not have Zeke still under contract after 28

After his 5th year deal I may just watch EE walk out the door. To me Dak, Jaylon, BJ and Cooper are more important and maybe LC too. It is just to easy to draft RBs and with the money tied in this O-line I should be able to draft a 1200 yard back in the 3rd round.
I don't expect to see Zeke to take the field in a Cowboys uniform for that 5th year if an extension is not reached. I also think Rod Smith has shown us it takes more than a good OL to have a stout running game.

Zeke will play for the 9m

If he sits out he gets fined on top of losing the salary

He has 0 leverage as he has already made 26m and is getting 9m more

What player of Zeke's caliber has ever been fined for holding out? When I look at the Cowboys depth chart as it pertains to the RB position, I see about the same leverage for Zeke as I saw for a former Cowboys RB back who sat for two games in the 90s.

LC is a big question mark for me cause Fleming is on a 2 year deal as insurance in case a deal can't be made with #71. LC is like BJ to me it's 50/50 what the FO will do.

I don't see us making a deal with LC. Gotta cut back on the oline cap hit. He's an average player. We've got pro bowl players we need to pay.

Like Leary, he's gone.

That's cool... they should probably draft a RT then.

Easily? Lol, that’s good stuff. And please, please use “he won the rushing record 2 out of 3 years” reasoning. Top 5, probably even top 3 but “easily the best” is a joke.
Name a more complete RB.

Saquon Barkley for sure and maybe Bell. Barkley, without a doubt, is the most complete RB in the league. He has slightly better speed, better hands, 0 fumbles compared to Zeke’s six, ran behind a much worse O line, and has better moves. Zeke runs slightly better north and south but thats about it. Not to mention it seems like Barkley has more then air between his ears which is always an added bonus with some of these guys, especially recent Cowboys unfortunately.

idk. Zeke is really good. we cant just replace him with Smith.
i want a shortish contract extension. other than that suspension year, u can see that the team rallys around him.
he aint going anywhere soon imo. lets see

Zeke is responsible for Dak's success, and it's not as easy as you think to just get a 1200yd back. Not to mention that the OL is not what it used to be.
Yet really good backs are found in the 3rd pretty often

That’s cause Smith is a backup at best to let EE walk I know another back would need to be drafted.

McFadden was pretty close to 1100 yards. He specifically said replace him with a 1200 yard back.
McFadden surprise me and he did do a pretty darn good job when they finally used him but he was older and injury prone. I always viewed RB as a young man’s job. My opinion is to draft one every 4 or 5 years keep them basically on a rookie contract.
