S'ok by me, as long as they're sold on building the right team around him to contend and controlling the cap and not have too much to too few. Does anyone really think Prescott can't win a SB with the right team around him?

There's no way this team is going to get a QB that makes everyone happy. If they had Mahomes, some would complain. And they're not going to get within reaching distance for these blue chip QB's coming out next draft or Lawrence in the following one.

The fact is Dak Prescott has made the decision for them because he is the "bird in the hand" QB. He's won 66% of his games, started every one, won the East 2 of 3 seasons and continued to show the leadership skills necessary for a QB at this level.

Doesn't matter whether you are on board, this train is leaving the station with Dak Prescott as the engineer and like his predecessor, his story doesn't sway the doubters. 4th round pick, 3rd choice of his own team, 3rd string QB comes in to lead his team for the third time in his career and take the #1 spot. This one is almost as good as the one about the UDFA QB.
Good post. I worry that the QB market will keep getting higher before Prescott gets extended. Just like Romo's bloated salary (and you can say that about most) it will only restrict the ability to sign talent around him. If, that is what happens. I think Prescott is a great young man who brings more than just an arm.

Middle of the road... sweet.

That's hardly "run first" numbers - that's balance numbers. Let's take a look at people with around similar or less attempts than Dak.

Philip Rivers - 508 attempts, 32 TD passes
Deshaun Watson - 505 attempts, 26 TD passes
Drew Brees - 489 attempts, 32 TD passes
Baker Mayfield - 486 attempts, 27 TD passes
Mitchell Trubisky - 434 attempts, 24 TD passes
Russel Wilson - 421 attempts, 35 TD passes

Despite Dak being within the the top 15 when it comes to pass attempts, he was ranked 16th in TD passes and compares to Stafford, Carr, and Manning - three QBs this board says sucks.

I'm not "adjusting" a damn thing. I'm not the guy that has to. Now go ahead and move those goalposts again!

Great thing to say before he plays his 4th season. Glad to have Jerry and Stephen running this team....

im still not fully sold rather be on the lease to buy option before I drop 30 on a QB worth 25..not sure why they are trying to outbid themselves, it makes zero sense..i let him ride it out if 25 in unacceptable, come back to the table after the season maybe a FT or heck let him shop around deal you can match..why not see what the true market is on Dak before going all in SOLD..lol

I'll bring things to the table other than "ERA!!!!"

I don't need "validation", that's already there in the numbers, and certainly don't need any from you. You go right ahead and continue to destroy whatever credibility you might have had. I'm doing just fine.

I dont believe those 3 guys suck but they arent living up to their contracts and thats the issue, do not over pay or outbid yourself, why? just make him an offer 25 4 yrs 100mil 65 guaranteed the first 3..gives both sides a chance to redo it in 3yrs like RW..its just gambling right now on potential, his numbers say hes top 10-15 pay him like it or let him shop deal and match it..

No one in this thread said any of those QBs sucked.

Peyton Manning was putting up 85 TD's over the three years during the "three yards and a cloud of dust" dark ages of passing that this guy would have you believe have been totally reinvented.

When Peyton Manning entered the league in 1999

1999 - only two QBs had more than 30 TD passes
2000 - 3 QBs
2001 - 3 QBs
2002 - 0
2003 - 1

Only one of those seasons Manning threw for over 30 TD passes

Let's compare this to 2018 - it had 9 QBs that threw over 30 TD passes in a season and one that threw 50 TD

Pretending the league hasn't changed passes wise is absolutely ridiculous.

I wouldnt be surprised to see the Jones's keep the checkbook closed. All the offseason moves (or lack of) along with the coaching moves suggest that we're rolling with what we have right now in a make or break season for Garrett (with the Jones's privately thinking break).

They want to give any incoming coach in 2020 as much flexibility as possible.

I think if Garrett goes, Dak wont be resigned for 2020.

No numbers say he is "top 15" - he's closer to to being outside the top 20 and compares to Mariota and Carr. But we'll overpay because that's the QB market.

I don't believe it's what they pay the QB, it's those other salaries that are a concern. QB money is just stupid but it's stupid for all of the teams.

What team can have their triplets in the top 5 paid as well as their DE? Has any team accomplished their goal in the cap era with that? And they still have, what I believe, are critical players to sign. And one thing we've seen in the NFL, any team starts throwing around big money, they all want to get paid. The Bell problem in PIT was because of the Brown deal.

So throws are ranked about 15 and TD passes are ranked around 15...
Got it.

LOL "MUH RAW DATA"

Again, you look like a fool using this to compare Dak to Brady. You're not stupid, you're playing stupid now because someone challenged you on this. There is a very good reason you're not looking for adjusted stats - this is available, there are sites for this. Why not go to them?

....that's why I said we'll overpay, because the QB market has caused this.

I expect this to change soon - when the highest paid QBs in the league are missing playoffs or not bringing trophies, at some point, owners have to realize these deals hamper the team more than help.

Got it.

There were multiple QBs with far less attempts that had more TD passes than him. As I pointed out. Comparing to Eli Manning and Derek Carr is not exactly great company.

The Dak haters on this board are insufferable.

The guy has done nothing but win games here. He has dominated in virtually every measurable. I just don’t get the hate.

Has he been perfect? No quarterback is. But the kid is entering his fourth year and his upside is through the roof.

One day I’d love to get a few beers with some of you and try to extract some semblance of a coherent argument for why he isn’t the quarterback of the future here.

Seems like a lot of people on this thread are very emotionally invested.
