Here's hoping Dak has his best year yet for the Cowboys. Lots of folks around here will be fuming and fussing if not. Many of those with ties in the NFL are offering opinions that 30 mil will likely be a starting point for Dak. Jerry has a way of rewarding several years of minimal contracts. Personally, I can live with it, especially if his performances take a noticeable upturn. In any event, by the looks of things, he'll be richly rewarded.

Since none of the contracts are negotiated by fans we'll just have to see what the contract looks like. Fans who don't do the negotiating have the Cowboys offering Prescott the type of money other more accomplished QB's have gotten and are certain that it is the type of money that the Cowboys will offer Prescott. They don't think that during the real negotiating that the things that have been accomplished as well as those that HAVEN'T been accomplished will come out. Wilson has gone to TWO Super Bowls winning 1, Prescott none. The Cowboys are not going to pay Prescott the same as more accomplished QB's. He will get a huge raise from his rookie contract but he is not going to be at the same level as the elite QB's in the league.
.

I'm not saying he'll get the same kind of deal as Wilson, only that it establishes a target. Dak's people will argue that he's younger than Wilson and still on the rise and therefore should be paid at least what Wilson got. Dallas will argue that he hasn't accomplished as much as Wilson has and therefore should not be paid as much as Wilson. The Cowboys will start on the low end and Prescott's team on the high end to settle somewhere a little under Wilson's numbers.

The one thing no one should count on is Prescott's contract being way less than Wilson's. That just not going to happen, just like Lawrence's contract ($21 million yearly average_ wasn't way less than Khalil Mack's ($23.5 million yearly average). Mack got more guaranteed and signing bonus, but he also signed for six years instead of five.

Not in the least.

You "dispute" nothing because you "bring" nothing. You wouldn't know a fact or a stat if it fell on you.
More attempts to discredit the messenger. How original.

Your fact is lame and a mere attempt to bring a comparison between Brady and Dak. Lol

Spinning a fact to support a narrative is Fake News.

Yet, Zeke led the NFL in rushing. You can't have it both ways.

Dak won't threaten the deep middle. He hold the ball FOREVER. Incredibly indecisive.

That simply makes it easy for defenses. Just overwhelm the offensive line with numbers because Dak won't make you pay for it.

That same offensive line with Drew Brees would look entirely different.
LOLLLL so Zeke’s statistical accomplishments count, but Dak’s don’t?

83 TD vs 27 INT with a 96 career passer rating... doesn’t count for squat. Got it!

Dak threatens defenses with his legs and is 32-16 as a starter with a middling supporting cast. Tell us more about how wins don’t matter, or something. He’s also one of the most reliably clutch players in all of football, but who cares about that right!?!?

LOL didn’t Drew Brees go 7-9 for 3 straight seasons recently? Dak’s completely unaware of what a losing season feels like.

It's all about market value. I think QBs get paid WAY too much, but it is what it is. Prescott will get what the value is at the time. Being that the staff decided to put Prescott behind center makes it easier to focus on more dire needs. I for one wasn't very fond of the string of garbage after Aikman retired like Wright, Carter, Leaf, Stoerner, Hutchingson, Henson..... You would think fans would appreciate Prescott a little more.

Some of y'all need to make peace with them signing Prescott.

Not a "Dak-Homer" or hater but I mean both father and son has publicly stated they want to keep him.
It's going to happen and it won't be cheap.

In comparing Brady and Prescott’s first 3 years... if you adjust for era, shouldn’t you adjust for coaching?
Certainly. Roster talent, seasonal divisional opponent strength, offensive/defensive/special team productivity, etc., can be introduced into a team related discussion point but that is just an example of radical thinking.

Talking football must focus on one guy. Always. And associated relevant details be damned. So please. Do not spearhead a commonsense thinking revolution here on CowboysZone, sir. Don't do it!!!

Yeah! I won't have as much fun if that happened!

Some people have a number in their minds, a number that is the maximum amount any particular player should get paid.

That makes it an almost certainty some minds will be blown to smithereens when the Jones/Prescott contract negotiating talks conclude.

ha. I got a chance to use smithereens in the literal sense. lol.

Prescott wouldn't be Brady even if he was with Bellichick. Same as none of the QBs with the Browns became that in the 3 years Bill was with them.

Brady has been helped by coaching, but you don't go from middling to GOAT just by coaching alone. Simple fact is, the moment Brady got the start in the NFL, he was getting it done.

An underappreciated word, IMO.
