This is exactly why Cowboys fans seem to think every year is "our year" and that every year, a Super Bowl is seemingly imminent.

If people actually think we can get premium draft capital for guys like Crawford and Collins, they've lost their mind. You're overvaluing our players and that's been a problem here for years.

You mean that teams aren't lining up to trade premium draft picks for overpaid players we're looking to move on from?

Absolutely not.

Being a Charlotte Hornets fan, we have to face the same reality with Nick Batum every season. Nobody wants to give a JAG a monster contract.

As expected. Now you backtrack. Everyone does.

It isn't at all. It's calling an overpaid non-starter for exactly who and what he is. An overpaid non-starter. Now you want to change conditions to meet your own lowered expectations.

Sounds like a role player, not a starter. Starters play their roles and play them well. Role players get bounced around or find "somewhere to fit in".

If and when someone gets hurt, it will be your "moot point", until then, and when talking about potential roster cuts, it is very much a valid one.

More 'fun with semantics'. Hiding in the grey areas rather than simply admitting what is true. Overpaid is overpaid.

Overpaying is the definition of a "mismanagement of funds", especially when it's overpaying a guy without a true starting role.
That's some impressive gymnastics to avoid your hangup on the "starter" label that only you seem to care about. But go forth and godspeed.

And you go ahead and run from it now that you've shown that you can't refute what was said. Try to change the conditions.

"Starter" was the entire point. And now that you've clearly failed to refute that, you want to try to minimize it.

Nobody is going through "gymnastics" the way you are now. Be careful not to strip your gears throwing things in reverse.

Yet another attempted defender backtracking or trying to change conditions to fit Crawford in? Not hardly. It's confirming what I already said would happen.

Crawford played the second most snaps last year among the DL, noone has to "fit him in". He's in until something changes.

You may hold the opinion that drafting practice squad guys in the 7th round moves him off the roster, but you are only one I see in this thread with that opinion.

There's more to consider than the oversimplification of Jaylen Jelks you're trying to make it appear to be.

I'll list the names and then let you decide who stays and who goes:

  1. Lawrence
  2. Maliek Collins
  3. Woods
  4. Robert Quinn
  5. Taco
  6. Hill
  7. Covington
  8. Armstrong
  9. Hyder
  10. Joe Jackson
  11. Jelks
  12. Crawford
  13. Gregory (pending suspension)
Find at least three guys on that list you're comfortable cutting to keep Crawford. Or punt the question because it's too tough to actually answer. Who gets forced off the roster so you can "fit him in"?

This is comical. Jackson is a 5th round pick, Jelks is a 7th round pick and Hyder has one season out of four where he did anything - and he had no serious bidders in FA. Dallas signed him for a 300K guarantee.

Its completely comical to list those three on the depth chart ahead of Crawford, who played the second most snaps on the DL last year. The guy who played the most just got a contract for 105 Million dollars.

So no actual answers then? That's what I suspected.

The "starter" point is meaningless. Snap count is way more important.

Now who is ducking the issue?

The "issue" has never changed, despite your best wishes. A non-starter is costing this team $10 million in cap hit this year, unless that is changed. And is also taking up a valuable roster spot in an overstocked group with an abundance of young players.

You don't like that so now you want to change the conditions.

No one wants crawford. I repeat no one. Just wait until he eventually gets cut lol.
Yeah, maybe I'm dreaming, but he is an effective player that produced 5.5 sacks last year and is strong in run support. Are you thinking that if he did get cut, no one would pick him up? I can see maybe not getting a high pick if teams think he might get released, so why pay for him with a pick. But if he was released, are you saying his career is done?

Lol...It's probably the same reason I blow $100 every year on a super bowl win at the sports book. I won in 92, 93 and 95, figure I've lost most of those winnings over the last 20 years. 92 was great though, I got 15-1 odds.

This is what im saying.

If You move L.Collins and can get a 2nd next yr. You can Post June 1st cut Crawford.
Thats 25m off the books next year.
Thats Daks contract wright there.

Think about that. You would have the money to keep Zeke, Cooper, J.Jones , B.Jones and move forward. You also have to remember you will eventually be able to replace Tyron Smith and when would be the best time to do so?

Maybe next year Walker Little or Andrew Thomas are some promising names. You can stash on your roster and not push immidiatly.
Im not saying to do it im saying prepare for it.

SMITH isnt getting any younger but is showing signs of a step back or two.

I think this team especially Will McClay are always looking forward.

They have to be able to save some money some where to stay on top. And it really seems they would rather Draft players rather then Sign Via FA. Js think ahead.

Tristen Hill will make M. COLLINS go bye bye
